- We have completed our Preliminary adult ice dance test. Went for all the beginner ice dance test patterns in one go and submitted Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango and Rhythm Blues.
These were fun to learn and we are very excited to move on from the beginner ice dances now. :)

We're professional dancers who decided to try something new. Figure skating is usually perceived as a kid's activity and often adults feel like it's too late for them to start.
We decided to ditch this notion and prove with our example that it's never too late to try something new.
We hope our experience of learning ice skating as beginner adults (which is also a great workout) will inspire you to get active and get in shape and go after those points on your bucket list, too!

The wait is terrible! I have no doubt you both passed your MIF and dances. It is interesting about testing together, I’d be interested to know the answer as well. Up and onwards!

For preliminary dances they were good. Lots to work on but that comes with time. Next test day no bulky sweaters and no extra fabric around your skate boot. Judges want to see those ankles bending. Also beware of toe pushes and lack of extension when the foot comes in front. Back extension is great but front is lacking. For the dances themselves, these should pass. I'm working on the Blues dance and have been waiting to test it since September (Senior Silver Dance, last one before I work on the golds).

I can’t imagine what it must be like to have a virtual test and wait for the results! I’m trying to prepare my next dance tests but we have no idea when we will be able to open the ice rinks here again. I’m working on fiesta tango, swing dance, willow waltz and 14 step. Lots of fun!
