The booklet mirrors the order in which the CDs were released. For some reason, Magical Mystery Tour was issued in September 1987 AFTER The White Album and Yellow Submarine, which were issued in August. I'm sure I recall reading earlier in 1987 that there were no plans to issue MMT on CD so maybe there was a change of heart sometime during the year which would explain why it was released out of sequence.
I've puzzled over this myself for about thirty years...but the above explanation never occured. Obvious, really! It's still daft though...if you're going to have it in, it should go after Sgt. Pepper. Nice one!!! ✌️❤
Yes I do remember back in 1987 that there were no plans to release Magical Mystery Tour on CD as it was an American album but then it was decided late on to release it. Makes sense really, if it hadn't been released then it would have had to be part of Past Masters which would have been a bit odd.
I was thinking the same thing myself. Back in 87 there was a huge debate over MMT being just an "American Album" and this was the FIRST time ever the proper British versions of the Beatles Albums were released in America outside of imports. If I remember right, the talk was to release the EP version on CD so it would have had no place in the actual album order. That was scrapped and eventually everyone agreed to add the MMT album as part of the set. I'm thinking however no one knew where to stick in in the order because it never had a true British release until after the breakup. The Album was released 27 November 1967 just before the White Album Released: 22 November 1968 so if it was respected based on the American release date, it would be between Sgt Pepper and The White Album. But given this was also the first time anyone could buy the Beatles albums on CD, it was probably a huge deal to have them in the order the CDs were released in. Collectors went NUTS over them. It was a major event, so of course you wanted to store them in the order you got them! I remember seeing them for the first time, in those crazy long boxes CDs came in to prevent theft. It broke my heart I couldn't buy them because you couldn't afford a CD player back then unless you had a proper high paying job!
Anthony Craig is correct. MMT was not originally planned for a CD release, but apparently there was enough of a demand for the release that EMI and Capitol had to add the title at the last minute.
I bought the Beatles discs as they were released, and I saved my longboxes (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think those were issued in the UK). From 1994-2001 I managed a used CD store and every single day some sort of treasure would come in the door. The one and only time the box set was traded in I grabbed it for my own collection. The discs themselves were in horrific condition (only one disc was in the 'White Album' case), and there was a disc from a totally different artist in 'Rubber Soul', so I offered the guy $40 for just the box and booklet. He took it, and I dumped his discs in the trash, took it home and filled it with mine.
The perks of running the shop! No we didn't have long boxes here, you could only import them. I have Paul McCartney All The Best US version in a long box.
I finished collecting the the european vinyl albums , with the last one 'Hey Jude' in 1978 (Past Masters Two on CD) and starting with Sgt Pepper as a present from my freak cousin in 1967- wow (Goodmorning Goodmorning my favourite track at the time and of cause the albums ending cresendo and big bam on the pianos). I've been through several generations of CD remasters and the 2009 mixes are the clearest. 'The White Album' being the one I used up in vinyl three times and bought in every CD release, the last with 6 CD's and book the most cherished beside 'Let It Be' which rooftop concert made me who I am after seing it on Danish television 6 years old in 1970 :)
I need a pink Floyd bread bin yessss glad you got your liver pool bread bin my Gran had one and kept the bread and scones in it now I know she was from Scotland
I remember seeing that set when I was a young kid in the late 80's, my dad had it and always admired it, but he sold it off not to long after. I was finally able to acquire my box in 2020 as a congratulatory present for helping a friend win her election here in the states. Same as yours, UK pressings of the disc. There was a version of the box released here in America with the US pressings, but always wanted the UK ones for the longest time. As far as the order that I put the disc in, I have MMT before Yellow Sub, and I have Abbey Road after Let It Be. Such a beautiful set, so happy to have it.
I’ve always wanted the cabinet for my original cds but have never been able to find one that I could purchase without the cds. You’re one lucky guy. My Beatles collection has over 8000 pieces and it’s just gotten too expensive to buy everything anymore. But this cabinet is on my bucket list.
Cool story to share with you there, Andrew. I have to thank you because after watching your video, I went to Ebay trying to see if the 'bread box' was sold on there, and I ended up seeing a new, still sealed Beatles Anthology DVD box set sold for...6 euros !!! With shipping that's going to be only 13 euros for the whole thing, new and all...that's thanks to you, Andrew! :)
Great topic! I ogled that box set for months at my local Strawberries Records & Tapes (Boston, Mass. at the time) until I saved $300 & bought it in the Spring of 1989. The suggested album order was definitely confusing, but is listed correctly on the "Contents" page & again in the song descriptions. Although my roll top never worked properly, always sticking, it still looks pretty good & all the CDs sounds great after 1/3 of a century. To this day, it's my favorite single music acquisition for a variety of reasons. Enjoy yours - you've earned it!
The cabinet!! I regretted not getting it too. Maybe the order is based on when the tracks were recorded or written? I remember getting Rubber Soul on CD for the first time. Of course it was the British release version, not the US version I got as a child. I still can't get used to Drive My Car on Rubber Soul. To this day, I still play Rubber Soul American style. 😄
I still remember walking into my local record/cd store and seeing this. It was the Holy Grail for a few of us as I don’t recall another box set type of thing by theBeatles.
Hello Mr. Dixon Due to the fact that I was only like 2 years old when this box that you are showing came out I honestly was not aware that it existed By the way that you are describing it I can tell that it looks very cool I am so happy that you were able to get it God bless you and I will hear you on the next video
Hey Andrew, because of this video I went on a search for this “Bread Box” , I was able to find a box and booklet only on eBay. I probably payed way too much for it. But now I have it for my original 1987/ 88 first release versions of my Beatles CDs. As someone wrote before, the order they suggest in the booklet was the way the cd’s were originally released back in those days. It appears that your white album is in a double CD box. When I purchased that back when it was first released it came in two single cd cases in the states. Since the rerelease of the CD catalogue in 2007 it really devalued the 87/88 release but I Think you add value to these CDs with the box and booklet added. All the best, I enjoy your videos and I can’t wait for the revolver box set to be released!
Andrew I remember getting this for Christmas in 1988! The year after I really got into the Beatles music and collecting records and CDs. Cheers and congratulations on your addition to the collection!
I got the CD's separately throughout the 1990's and never got the breadbin case until recently. I finally got the set last year, but the specific version from Canada, which has all the original mixes from the 60's. Lucky to find this one, it includes the mis-press of Help and Rubber Soul with the original 1965 mixes, also known as the "Disque Americ" pressings.
I just received this set with all the discs and a pretty immaculate condition book. I have all the discs already but they are in the HMV limited edition boxes. That was the reason I never went for the cabinet before. I paid £120 for the complete set which is £110 less than it originally sold for, because there was £15 postage and insurance on top of the price according to that advert. All the discs in my set are from Holland whereas all the discs in my HMV box sets say Made In The UK.
I knew someone who got one as a gift from his father, apparently for a very good deal. When I lived in Ottawa, Ontario there was a store at one of my local malls, Music World that had one in stock for a long time. I never went in for it but when they were going out of business I bought myself the 2002 reissue of The Rolling Stones Singles London Years 3 CD set as a gift to myself for graduating high school. I have the Beatles mono CD box, the '87 Abbey Road CD and the 1998 collector's edition of The White Album I found at a record show and I'm very happy with all of those.
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a discounted version of this (Bread Box) box set from a closing down of a chain of record stores. At the time I had only vinyl versions of the albums. This box set allowed me to upgrade to CD while stored in an attractive casing in one purchase.
I am Very lucky to say I got one back in 1989 With the original box and the original shipping box All say apple, made in England Booklet never been opened and fondled
You scored very well there. A very nice box indeed. I got mine back almost a decade back, and like yours mine was in very good condition. Many out there are in not so good a shape but still come up on eBay now and again. I never knew it was available via mail order. I only saw the complete set of CDs with box for sale at major record shops and department stores' record section back in the day. ps I am still on the lookout for the now rare booklet.
Nice pick up Andrew. I bought both the cd and vinyl box sets on release in 1988. The vinyl box is still as-new, but sadly the cd cabinet is falling apart due the bands holding together perishing over time. Here in Australia, MMT album was released via World Record Club in 1969, so the order in the booklet makes sense in our context.
Great video Andrew and might I say you are very lucky to get the box. I bought all the CD’s when they were released over here in 1987/88 but as far as I know the connoisseurs box set 📦 was released after the initial CD release and never locally available here as a separate item 😡.
Never had this - but I had the ‘hologram’ box set which was really expensive but looked fantastic. Strangely you never hear about it and I haven’t seen one since.
Hi Andrew. Congrats in obtaining that cool box. I knew of it back then but like many I thought you had to buy the whole set. About the MMT of course it came out in the UK as Ep edition and then in 1976 the UK put out the full album, so that explains the running order.
I got the Beatles CD s in their HMV boxsets - still all fully complete with Badges and other content. Strange that first albums were released in collections of four and three discs but rarities each had separate box. I will look out for this toll top cabinet though - like the booklet.
Hi Andrew just saw your video on the BEATLES Cabinet , I was fortunate in being at London Oxford Street in 1993 I picked up in a Record shop for 10 GBP empty . , keep up the good work great info
When I first started collecting Beatles CD’s in the early 90’s, I seem to remember them coming with an ad to send away for the Beatles merchandise catalog. I did so as there was no internet back then. I remember browsing through the catalog and seeing the box set listed. Along with the Singles and EP box sets. I really wanted all of them, but couldn’t see the sense in getting them as is already had almost the whole albums collection. I don’t seem to remember them listening the box on it’s own here in the U.S. If they did I’m sure I would have tried to figure to save up for it. I still would like to get one, and it’s on my bucket list of Beatles items to obtain.
Great video if your wondering why I've been quiet sometime back in late January I was struck by a car near to where I live and spent 4 months in hospital. I returned home 2 weeks ago and have only just watched your videos
I bought mine without CDs at the time of release as I'd already got all the HMV boxed editions of the albums. Still got it, bugger for collecting dust though. Enjoy.
I was one of those people who discovered this box after reading Beatles Monthly. After a few strong hints in the direction my parents, I proudly opened this up as a birthday present. I always thought that the MMT playing order was weird & put it down to a typo to be honest. Very strange!
Hey Andrew, congratulations on your long sought after find. I hadn't heard it called "The Connoisseur's Cabinet" before today so I've learned something new. 😉. I bought the CD's individually in 1987/88 and became aware of the 'Breadbox' collection later. However a record store here in Sydney was selling the boxes empty for $30 AUD so I grabbed one. However it didn't include the booklet though thankfully a mate of mine was able to find one for me. From memory I didn't quite own all of The Beatles CD's as I think I held out on "Yellow Submarine" for some reason (maybe the price vs value for money on that CD). The gap in the box was enough incentive to buy it. Be aware that the rolltop lid is prone to sticking after a while. The same mate's rolltop lid fell apart unfortunately. Great video. Cheer
@@AndrewDixonMusic I should add that in around early 2012 I found an empty LP rolltop box on EBay for $80 AUD. I decided to fill it with UK pressings of The Beatles core LP catalogue as I wanted 'UK collection'. However I contented myself with 1970's/80's stereo pressings. Of course what should released not a few months later? The 2012 stereo remasters on vinyl box, which I also bought of course . 🙄
I remember seeing it in the Beatles shop in Mathew Street in the mid to late 1990s but just assumed it only came with the CDs in as that’s what the display copy shown plus it was very pricey
Hi Andrew, almost the same story for me. I didn't realise that it could be bought separately and I can recall like it was yesterday when I walked around in that immense record store, where I used to buy my records, and looking at that beautiful box thinking "oh, that box is beautiful". 34 years, how time flies. But at the time I decided not to buy it; it was a quite expensive box... in a way I regret it now but who knows maybe I will buy one...
But I think it for me was more like 31 years, since I commenced buying cd:s in 1991... the first one was "Salt 'n 'Pepa" with hits like Start the party, Let's talk about sex and Doper than dope. The songs on the CD haven't aged well, but the cd has a precious place in my record collection... :)
I bought mine brand new in 1988 with the cds. It sits on the top of my LP shelves. I never play the discs, but I do know the Please Please ME cd has the small round sticker on the rear stating AAD not ADD. I wonder how many of the owners have this.
I've learnt something today, never heard of this box set . Just managed to get the deluxe box set of Plastic Ono Band for £55. Couldn't resist it at that price.
Others have already mentioned that EMI was not originally planning to release Magical Mystery Tour and the suggested CD order is the order in which the CDs were released. I was able to buy the box without the CDs when it was released. I also purchased the LP box empty. It still sits empty today LOL
Late comment 😂 I also bought the CDs separately. But I knew about the boxset alternative but couldn’t afford it at the time. So I bought the albums one at a time. So last week I saw an ad that someone was selling this box with all the CDs. I contacted the seller and asked if he was interested in selling me just the box without the CDs. He was and I got a pretty good deal. It looks really great and the booklet was in near mint condition too! So now I don’t have to hide my old 80’s CDs in a paper box any longer 😀
@@AndrewDixonMusic Yes it is! I was surprised that it was in such good condition since I read that lots of the remaining box sets available had all sorts of damages. Mine had nothing more than expected after 30 years.
It had a little blue booklet as well- I can send it to you and the black booklet-free of charge I don't mind. The Blue booklet advertised all the CD albums
Hi Andrew. Very nice to see you get your hands on something you've wanted for a long time. Isn't it great to finally get something you've coveted for years? I'm surprised you didn't just get the actual discs that came with it too though because that's what I would do. I'd get the complete original package with everything in it and keep my original purchases too. But that's just me, you obviously have a good reason for yourself why you didn't get them too. But what you have surprised me with here Andrew is that this box was a series in which you could have got the LP version too. I knew about the cassette version of the box because Ive seen one although it's more rare then the CD bread bin. But I've NEVER seen, heard of or even knew the LP version existed. Oh, and I've just realised a reason why maybe you didn't get the CDs. Because the bread bin was available to buy separately so the CDs are no different from any other 1987 releases. Is that right? So no point because they are no different to what you have already.
Oh you devil Andrew! I always wanted one of those, but i could barely afford a CD in the late 1980s (I reckon we're of similar age guv). A lovely video.
Yeah I just got mine too but maybe two months ago now I bought mine on eBay best offer so 150+ shipping I was very happy to get it then when I got it the disc inside some from are sealed and the ones that are open are like all new still also and I noticed that they felt heavier so I pulled one of my original ones out and I weighed next to the other one and they are different. The ones that came in the box are just a little bit more heavier but they are heavier anyway my roller is not as smooth as yours might need some love and steel I got to figure out how to make it better oh well but considering what I paid no problem thanks
Well done it's still a desirable object and to be fair some of the later CDs still sound very good. My first CD was Press To Play! I bought it in 1986, right after buying the LP. I didn't even own a CD player back then, but I wanted the extra tracks, Write Away and Tough on a Tightrope that weren't on the LP. So I asked a friend to make a copy on a cassette. The second and third CD I bought i think were Rubber Soul and Help. I had a player then. And I'm pretty sure Cloud Nine came out around then.
Back to your box, I think the White Album is still the best version of the album on CD as it is a flat transfer from the master tapes as opposed to the 2009 CD which is compressed and limited!
My late father-in-law had the CD bread bin, which he bought in Australia when it came out, although I'm sure it must have been an import (there was also a wooden box with all the LPs that came out at the same time containing Australian pressings, now that I wish he'd bought). But he also had the cardboard box that the bread bin came in, with the Beatles logo and a list of the albums contained within printed on it. I picked it up thinking it was a shoe box at first, but no, it was the famed CD bread bin. I wonder how many people kept that cardboard box? I don't see any pics of it on Discogs, so I'm guessing not many. Or the stores didn't include it when they sold them over the counter. Did anyone else get or keep this box as well?
@@matthewshelbourne9560 Next time I'm over at the house, I'll try and take a picture of the cardboard box and post it to the appropriate Discogs entry. I looked online, but all I could find was a picture of the cardboard box that the Japanese edition was shipped in, which is Beatle-branded and so on, but doesn't resemble the shoebox-style packaging that my father-in-law's set came in.
Maybe because the songs on MMT and Yellow Submarine (with one exception: Hey Bulldog) were recorded in 1967? Anyway, that's why I would put BOTH of those albums after Sgt. Pepper's and BEFORE The White Album. But I also always put Let It Be (Naked version for me!) before Abbey Road, so... I'm a bit strange. I like chronological order of creation.
Picked my box up many years ago for £5. A few of the slats on the roll top were loose and i had to fix them. Now we are calling it the connoisseur box that will push its value up. 😏
I had the breadbin collection to Andrew, I acquired mine through Britannia Music starting some time in 1991 I got one album per month until it was complete, wasent the 2 past masters included also ???, Many years later I lent it to a friend and the box was came back broken 😭😭. That done me lending anything again.
Will you be changing your channel name to Andrew Dixon, Connoisseur? Just kidding, so glad you finally found your box. And at least it has two uses if you need that bread box! Take care. Enjoyed this video.
Andrew you've done it again. I've been after that cabinet too. We didn't know at the time that they sold this and the blue boxes separately. I'm still looking for the box for the 3" single CDs. And that picture of the boys that you said you've never seen it before. It picture on the 3"cd & late picture disc release of Please Please Me. Your winding me up now
I got the 3" CD single empty box when it became available as I'd bought most of the CD singles, managed to complete it in the end luckily. It's a nice item although the "booklet" in it is merely a folded piece of card listing all the singles and B sides with release dates.
Hi Andrew, I bought mine in 1988 in the United States for $250 US Dollars. The Compact Discs say 1987 mix on them. I still have it along with the original shipping box it came in. It was a white shipping box that said CD 1 on it. I cherish it to this very day. Thank you. Greetings from Denver, Colorado.
Did not like cds prefer tapes and albums but enough of me this is a interesting peice of footage the Beatles. Music history is fab there’s so much my favourite. Album cover is Peppers lonely hearts club band
The reason why MMT is out of order: that's the order of release of the CDs. For some reason, MMT came out between Yellow Submarine and Abbey Road. The other CDs came out in chronological order. Maybe they weren't sure what to do, since it was an American album. They might have considered to include those songs in Past Masters, and then realize to adopt the American album was much more practical.
Oh yeah and the Sergeant Pepper album fits really tight with the paper sleeve so I don’t put it in there with it I just put the regular one in there that came with it without the sleeve OK thanks again
I'm surprised the shop sold you just the box. I'd think the CDs have more value as part of this set than individually. I originally bought the CDs individually, but bought this box set brand new after a house fire in 2001. I don't think I ever noticed the book in the bottom, or if I did, I'd long since forgotten it was there. I just checked, and sure enough, I have that book in mine.
They seemed perfectly happy either way, surprised me a little also. I'd rather have my CDs in there that I've owned for over 30 years that ones owned by someone else so I was happy to not buy the discs again.
Hi Andrew I know why they suggest the cd order. Incompetence. lol since when has EMI or now universal done anything right. On the 20th anniversary of love me do they issued the Andy white version and again ten years ago before recalling them and issuing the Ringo version. that's probably not the only lapse from the record company (is that a video posting subject on it's own). cheers
Do you think this is an idea to sell album collections nowadays? I know Sting has done it where you could buy the box with a few albums in and there would be place for the others to fill the Collection at your own pace.
Hi Andrew, I wondered if you had the Bread Bin as I'd never seen it on the shelves behind you. Now I know why. I don't know how much you paid for the cabinet so I hope this doesn't cheese you off, but I picked up a copy including the booklet and all the CDs except Abbey Road in pretty much mint condition from Oxfam in Sheffield (the one up from 'Record Collector' ) for £20 about 6 years ago. I already had all the CDs so replacing the missing disc was not a problem. Bargain of the year I thought at the time. I've always filed MMT between Sgt Pepper & the White Album in the cabinet. I've also seen the Rutles! - at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham in 2014. I had a nice chat with Neil Innes afterwards and the band signed my live CD. I was amused that John Halsey signed himself as Barry Wom.
£20!!!!!!!!! Now that is a deal! I also met Neil Innes at a Rutles gig, did a little kind of Q&A session with him afterwards, might have do a video on that some time...
@@AndrewDixonMusic it's not as sturdy as the roll-top, but in the U.S. I wasn't aware it was available empty. Since I was ending up buying the cds again, I figured they might as well be Japanese pressings.
Sounds plausible, thanks! Still feels like it's not enough of a reason to order them that way in the box though!

Obvious, really!
It's still daft though...if you're going to have it in, it should go after Sgt. Pepper.

By the way that you are describing it I can tell that it looks very cool
I am so happy that you were able to get it
God bless you and I will hear you on the next video
Glad to hear you got one, sorry for costing you money! 😄
The cabinet looks cool. I'm glad you finally got yours recently.
Andrew I remember getting this for Christmas in 1988! The year after I really got into the Beatles music and collecting records and CDs. Cheers and congratulations on your addition to the collection!
Congrats with your purchase, Andrew. I was among the fans who bought the CDs one by one when they were released separately back in 1987 and onwards.
I've got the cassette cabinet about 20 years ago, with the booklet and filled it myself, I don't remember ever playing it.
I bought mine separately from that advert
I just received this set with all the discs and a pretty immaculate condition book. I have all the discs already but they are in the HMV limited edition boxes. That was the reason I never went for the cabinet before. I paid £120 for the complete set which is £110 less than it originally sold for, because there was £15 postage and insurance on top of the price according to that advert. All the discs in my set are from Holland whereas all the discs in my HMV box sets say Made In The UK.
I Got the CD's, The Wooden Box, Then the Booklet. A Year Before My Family and I Moved Out in the Boonies.
I have this. I’m glad I kept it.
🤣🤣🤣✅
Love the Warburtons gag
How very cool Andrew. I had no idea that existed. Thanks for another great video. Cheers!
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a discounted version of this (Bread Box) box set from a closing down of a chain of record stores. At the time I had only vinyl versions of the albums. This box set allowed me to upgrade to CD while stored in an attractive casing in one purchase.
Great video. Now you have got me searching for one
I am Very lucky to say
I got one back in 1989
With the original box and the original shipping box
All say apple, made in England
Booklet never been opened and fondled
You scored very well there. A very nice box indeed.
I got mine back almost a decade back, and like yours mine was in very good condition. Many out there are in not so good a shape but still come up on eBay now and again.
I never knew it was available via mail order. I only saw the complete set of CDs with box for sale at major record shops and department stores' record section back in the day.
ps I am still on the lookout for the now rare booklet.
Glad you got one Andrew! I used to call mine, The Beatles Bread Box! Ha ha! Enjoy! Cheers Matt
Never knew that this existed so I'll have to try and track one down, great video as always!
Great you finally got the ‘Bread Box’ Andrew. Interesting to note how expensive CD’s were then😳
Nice pick up Andrew.
Thanks Andrew. Great video, as usual
I don't remember that one!
My Dad received the hologram box set for his 40th birthday. As far as I’m aware, you could only buy it from HMV.
Hi Andrew. Congrats in obtaining that cool box. I knew of it back then but like many I thought you had to buy the whole set. About the MMT of course it came out in the UK as Ep edition and then in 1976 the UK put out the full album, so that explains the running order.
I got the collection in the hmv cardboard box but it needs fixing ! I hope I can get it repaired
Bargain!
You did very well indeed!
All good things come to those who wait,as the saying goes!
It’s. Bread box man I have it. I’ve seen it as a kid at tower records as a kid but was too expensive. But finally got it. 👍🏻
I always wanted one of those. Came out just as I was getting into The Beatles. Could afford it in one go (at 13), so I had to get them one at a time.
My breadbin also has that rolltop door.
Great video if your wondering why I've been quiet sometime back in late January I was struck by a car near to where I live and spent 4 months in hospital. I returned home 2 weeks ago and have only just watched your videos
Hi Ryan, hope you're making a good recovery! 😲
Cheer
Thanks Peter, I'd better stop playing with it sliding it up and down!
My Connoisseur Cabinet has fallen apart a couple of times that has required me to glue it back together.
still have mine with the shipping box......they also did a box like this for vinyl lps
The first four original cds in the box had small stickers on the back correcting the ADD description on the cover to AAD
Hi Andrew, I had this box for over 20 years, didnt like the sound quality of the CDs, but the Booklet is class, happy dusting
I bought mine brand new in 1988 with the cds.
It sits on the top of my LP shelves.
I never play the discs, but I do know the Please Please ME cd has the small round sticker on the rear stating AAD not ADD.
I wonder how many of the owners have this.
Wow the price difference between the CDs and LP's. How times have changed
I've learnt something today, never heard of this box set . Just managed to get the deluxe box set of Plastic Ono Band for £55. Couldn't resist it at that price.
Excellent price!
Others have already mentioned that EMI was not originally planning to release Magical Mystery Tour and the suggested CD order is the order in which the CDs were released. I was able to buy the box without the CDs when it was released. I also purchased the LP box empty. It still sits empty today LOL
Late comment 😂
I also bought the CDs separately.
Excellent! Is the tape holding up well that joins all the slats together?
@@AndrewDixonMusic Yes it is! I was surprised that it was in such good condition since I read that lots of the remaining box sets available had all sorts of damages. Mine had nothing more than expected after 30 years.
@@casperius1 That's good. The tape on mine fell apart soon after I got it and I had to take the slats out and apply new tape to hold them together.
Yes that's right, I already had the exact contents, but my own CDs that I bought in 1990.
@@AndrewDixonMusic But we're you aware of the cassette and LP versions of this box?
I had this box set which had all the CDs in it I sold it to a friend of mine I wish i had kept it
I’ve got two of this set, and an empty wooden box, plus the Japanese release from 1998
Lucky you🎸🥁
I have this but never heard it called the Connoisseur's Cabinet before (I'm in the US).Sounds a lot better than Bread Box.
Good old Revolution Records to the rescue!
Bought mine separately. Sold it off about 15 years ago
I had this cabinet but some of the CD’s were very hard to pull out and got stuck. I still have the albums but not the cabinet
If I remember correctly the SGT Pepper CD that came with the box did not look exactly the same as the one available individually.
Oh you devil Andrew! I always wanted one of those, but i could barely afford a CD in the late 1980s (I reckon we're of similar age guv). A lovely video.
Me too,if you were about 17/18 in the late 1980s.
The first 4 albums in mono are just horrible transfers!
@@edised71 I should go back and give it a go. Not played any of those since the 2009 versions came out.
Cloud Nine came out in 1987.
My version didn't come in a cardboard box, I wish that it did though.
What a bargain!
I had the breadbin collection to Andrew, I acquired mine through Britannia Music starting some time in 1991 I got one album per month until it was complete, wasent the 2 past masters included also ???, Many years later I lent it to a friend and the box was came back broken 😭😭. That done me lending anything again.
Lending often ends in disaster!
Will you be changing your channel name to Andrew Dixon, Connoisseur? Just kidding, so glad you finally found your box. And at least it has two uses if you need that bread box! Take care. Enjoyed this video.
Andrew, does the Rubber Soul CD from that box have the US Capitol cover, with the UK track listing?
On the 20th anniversary of love me do they issued the Andy white version and again ten years ago before recalling them and issuing the Ringo version. that's probably not the only lapse from the record company (is that a video posting subject on it's own). cheers
So now you just need the cassette and album cases to make up the set. Good luck !
The only change I made to mine was putting Abbey Road after Let It Be. Cheers
I would put them in that order too since "Let It Be" was recorded before "Abbey Road".
Should’ve got the mint discs to go with
I have the MC cabinet.
I owned two copies of this from new and neither of them came with the booklet! I don't know whether this was a common problem?
Not that I know of, but there's not much info out there about this box!
Loving the Rutles T Shirt - they’re only the band The Beatles could have been……..or was that Wings?
The Rutles are the legend that lasted a lunchtime!
Do you think this is an idea to sell album collections nowadays? I know Sting has done it where you could buy the box with a few albums in and there would be place for the others to fill the Collection at your own pace.
I know recent David Bowie releases have tried this also. It certainly gets some people desperate to fill them....
At the time, I considered purchasing the bread box. I ended up purchasing the Japanese version instead, which was 2 doors and a clasp in the middle.
Not seen that one, is it a good box?
@@AndrewDixonMusic it's not as sturdy as the roll-top, but in the U.S. I wasn't aware it was available empty. Since I was ending up buying the cds again, I figured they might as well be Japanese pressings.
Ok
Nice bread bin
