Ned is one of the most generous teachers I've ever met. He has consummate skill and he 100% wants us to "get it" too. If you ever get a chance, take a class with him.

Well done Ned. As a watercolor artist, the same principles apply. I tell my students, "Look at the shapes and the values within those shapes. We avoid lines and work with edges instead. Great video and excellent advice.

My buddy has been studying portraiture for a while now and watched this the other day. He made an excellent portrait last night at our figure drawing club as a result. Great video

I was awed to see the portrait emerge from the shapes alone--no lines at all. Thank you, Ned.

What an amazing and yet so humble artist he is! His instruction is so clear and easy to understand. I’ve learned so much from his tutorials. Thank you so much, Mr. Mueller!

My hat is off to you, an old school artist! I notice that there are many videos on TH-cam that show you how to add eye lashes to the eyes at the beginning of a drawing session. Wish more art lovers subscribe to your channel.

Great video Ned! I studied a little with you back in Seattle, maybe sixteen years ago. I learned so much from you. Thank you.

I only used newsprint in college. Never again. Next worse was sketch paper. I now use it for warm up only.
