    Advanced V.G. is such a classic. And recently it was its 30th anniversary!! Hope we can see another entry in the series one day.

      @@hieioni3354 As in another proper fighting game with all these characters returning? Of course, but I don't see that happening after Mr. Kimura passed away this year.

      @@hieioni3354 He was the character designer for V.G. series, yes. Takahiro Kimura is also known for his work on various anime series, including several entries in the Gundam franchise, Betterman, Dirty Pair Flash and most importantly - Code Geass.

      @@PrekiFromPoland Yeah, I read the tweet from someone that Takahiro Kimura was an artist and character designer for various video games/anime. He will be missed :(

    Great video. I wish this series could makeba comeback or got a re-release. I have Advanced Variable Geo 2 on the Playstation 3 and love it. Despite being an old game, it still holds up pretty well. Could you make a video on that one with a character of your choice?

      Call me weird, I'm not a big fan of these ;) And apparently, neither Sony nor Sega were, considering there's no such "detail" on PS1 and Saturn versions of the game.

      @@PrekiFromPoland Neither was Nintendo, as TGL also cut the panty shots from Super V.G. on SNES.

    In 1994, they could have the characters mouths move and have speech and here in 2023, we get a still image with text. Sometimes not even speech...

      Technically, I think the Arcade Card would have improved the mouth movements and cutscene animations and make Advanced Variable Geo as an Arcade CD game.

    I hope this series makes a comeback someday as a lot of other Japan-only series are making massive comebacks and even getting translated and brought outside of Japan for the first time. I really want a collection of the 2 Advanced V.G games from the PS1 on modern platforms, maybe with English subtitles, or maybe even have a collaboration with Fortnite or Super Smash Bros to have the characters appear in these games.

    The PlayStation (and Saturn) version is easily superior to the PC Engine version, not just in graphics or in terms of power, but in overall quality as is the case with TG16/PCE ports to the PS1 and Saturn. It’s just a better experience overall.

    • @rockhyde7775
      @rockhyde7775 ปีที่แล้ว

      A side note: While the PSX version removes the hot stuff from the Saturn version, it’s a B tier experience overall. See, PS censorship isn’t anything new, so don’t complain about it hentai fans.

    Super Famicom port aside, this is perhaps the worst of them all. Playing a fighting game with a standard two-button controller must have been a pain (and let's face it - most people had standard gamepads). And then the spritework isn't as good as in Saturn or PS1 versions, the character sprites don't do justice to Kimura's gorgeous art style and their animation is... well, maybe not as bad as in the PC-98 entries, but still not quite good. Lastly, while the redbook audio is just as good as in the other ports, the voice samples are very rough, to say the least. It's still better than PC-98 games though.
    BTW, where did you find artwork from the video thumbnail?
