- Create a messaging app to allow a user to send messages to other users. Indicate whether a conversation has read or unread messages. Note: Use a popup or creative UI to create a new conversation by having the user specify which other users they want a conversation with and adding both the current user and the specified user emails to the user field on the conversation object.

Hey great video! I am just having trouble actually starting a conversation with another user, as when I preview the page, nothing shows up as obviously all data when it comes to conversations is empty, any ideas how I can do this? Thank you!
Same question! Have you found a solution? Maybe it has something to do with the custom state?
There are multiple ways to resolve this. The easiest of which is to add a condition on the group that shows the actual chat and say that when Do a Search for conversations:first item is empty (when there are no conversations) then hide the group. Have another group that is not visible on page load (you can choose this option in the second tab) and add the same condition but make it visible when its true. You can have this group show a screen that says no conversations and a button to start one. Hope I understood and answered your question properly!
Hi Aanya, this is great tutorial, thank you!! Could you please give me a tip to understand how I can enable sending attachments in a message as well?
In the messages object that you created, you can add a field of type image or video. In the repeating group that shows the message, add an image in and set the conditional for the image to only be visible if the current cells message’s image is not empty. Then where the user has the input, add an icon for them to be able to upload and image and save it to the message object when you run the workflow.

HI, great tutorial and almost everything works perfect... but, hay can I create a new conversation from scratch? I always have to do it direct from de data base? Because I sent a mesage, it was created but in the Data Base Mesage it doesn't show any conversation asociated
I can release a video on this next part soon. Until then, you need to create a new conversation first and then add to message to that. So when the user wants to make a new conversation, they first need to put in the emails or names of the people they want included. Then you can run a workflow to create a new conversation that includes the current user and all the users that were added to the conversation. In that workflow set the custom state conversation to be the new conversation you created and now when users send a message it should automatically be associated with the new conversation.

How do you have Field Type "List of Users" if it does not exist among your Data types?
Users is a default data type for Bubble apps!

This is probably too late but if someone else was also wondering, all you gotta do is when creating a new field just select the field type user then check the box "This Field is a list"

Hello Aanya, really nice tutorials you are having out there!! Very very helpfull.
But i have run into a subject you havent touched yet. (i think)

and at 3.08 he is able to choose specific elements from a reusable element. When im trying to replicate that, only get the reusable element to select and cannot do anything with that. Do you know you can eccese each individual element in the reusable element so that i can hide and show the pop up from the nav bar.

Hi! When you double click on a reusable element, it opens a separate editor for the element (similar to the editor for a page but specifically for that reusable element). There, you can edit the element. If you go to the dropdown where you can change pages and scroll down. There is a category for reusable elements and you can find it there.
