Looks like Kochetkov has played a bit of net in soccer as well lol. Don’t see anything wrong with this. Just a new style of goaltending that players will have to adapt to
That was technically perfectly done by the goalie. His stick goes between Tkachuk's legs and doesn't touch him till after he contacts the puck. Tkachuk has every right to be mad because that kind of play puts him in a lot of danger between crashing into the frame of the goal or badly into the boards. And if the goalie had hit Tkachuk before the puck I could see them awarding another penalty shot or a power play. I would not recommend trying this move cause if you are off half a second you hurt the player and/or take a penalty.
I would highly recommend this play because it, A- STOPPED A PENALTY SHOT! B- WASN’T A PENALTY and C- PISSED OFF A NEANDERTHAL DOUCHEBAG. GREAT SAVE!!!!!

Kochetkov was trying to block the puck with Tkachuk going forehand-backhand around him, and Tkachuk simply lost his focus and skated over the goalie stick. The stick was level on the ice, and it wasn’t swinging around. It was NOT a clear, undeniable hack at Tkachuk’s legs. The fact that Tkachuk skated right into the stick and tripped himself up doesn’t really make it a penalty. The goaltender has the right to try to anticipate the movement of the puck-especially on a breakaway where a forehand-backhand move around the sprawled goalie was the best way to score essentially on an empty net. It was actually a brilliant anticipation and play by Kochetkov. And it doesn’t matter if it was outside the crease. I mean, think about it: if a defenseman coming back on a two-on-one sprawls on the ice, laying his stick flat to try to block a pass to the other forward, and one of the forwards skates over that stick and trips himself up. Is that a penalty?
