- Mo Metcalf-Fisher, Director of External Affairs at the Countryside Alliance, goes head-to-head against political commentor Alex Cairns on GB News about the ongoing family farm tax debate.
Is Labour's inheritance tax now completely untenable?
Labour activist trying to defend the indefensible - Labour absolutely must go!!!
Labour seem to be doing just fine bringing themselves down where they belong ,we just have to vote them out after they've upset everyone but the foreigners.
Agree, totally.
Nothing 'indefensible' about closing a tax loophole. All this 'poor farmers' stuff is BS.
@ enjoy being hungry…
@@paulgreen4161 the lefty's can grow potatoes in their armpits.
We the people also back the farmers. Power to the people
We all support the farmers
Well done supermarkets! Proud of you!!
95% of supermarkets are owned by foreign companies and most of them are Muslim Arabic ones!
It's probably because they are losing money
Imho if supermarkets dont back farmers where else will the goods to fill their shelves come fromm
😂😂😂😂Proud you must be kidding
They are only looking after their own interests. Not really friends of the farmers, but they are better onside.
Train Drivers won’t feed us. Pay the farmers and sack the greedy train drivers
Greedy farmers
What I cannot understand is why we still have train drivers.
All the idiots of the MSM have been talking claptrap about self driving cars, which will not be better than humans for decades to come, yet trains just ne to stop/start and report their position. Everything else requires almost not human input.
The Docklands light railway was designed without drivers 40 years ago, do the same for all trains.

If the whole country needs rebuilding then how about we STOP wasting money on immgrants, foreign aid and net zero until the books are balanced???
Yip stopping those would solve a mountain of problems it's just hard to understand why government don't want to do it too many fingers in the money pie🏴😁👍
How can we rebuild anything if we are all starving to death?
because.. its part of "6uild 6ack 6etter"..
the redistribution of a nations wealth...

@KemPeck1701 it's funny how they are happy to redistribute wealth for global balance, as long as it's not theirs
Thank you to all those Supermarkets for standing up for our farmers, WELL DONE 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍
🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🥶
The only reason they are backing the farmers is because they wouldn't be able to screw down the price for imported food, like they do with our farmers. No farmers no profit
@@bwilliams572Wrong. Most the cheap products in supermarkets are imported. Eastern Europe mostly but others too. Do some research before posting rubbish.
Why would you wantt to import our food? When we have the ability to produce a lot of it here. Doesn't aid the net zero objective either.
Just don't send the £500 million to aid euro farms. I have just balanced the books. Sorted.
Don’t be fooled they are not doing this for the farmers or our benefit.
ITS ALL ABOUT KEEPING THEIR PROFITS UP BY SCREWING OUR FARMERS OVER
Starmer is a fire starter. He will never put out the fires he makes. He has to go.

So glad that the supermarkets have come out in support of the inheritance tax on our farmers, we the public also support the farmers we want fresh British produces so hopefully they will listen to the farmers now
The supermarkets are hypocrits poisoning our dairy with bovaer poison linked to cancer
I wish supermarkets would have come out for pensioners as well as farmers.
@pearlford121 we dont provide products for them to make a profit on do we, they have an ulteria motive
Wow. That's fantastic thanks to all the supermarkets
Don't thank them their actions are solely out of self interest.
ALL the supermarkets should ban ALL labour MPs from shopping in their companies.
And while the Supermarkets are at it, stop selling dairy products that have used Bovaer in their production.
Where do we get people like that. Obviously a Labour activist.

This is about putting farmers out of business .
forcing bugs and franken meat on the populus
And who's waiting in the wings to buy up cheap farmland!
This is so insulting! Why can’t you distinguish between tax avoiders and hard working farmers?? It surely can’t be that difficult! We love our farmers.
Farmers work harder than anyone…no farmers no food!
My neighbour is a farmer, he rents all his land and does work at all.
OMG, there is such a simple solution, a farm should only be subjected to inheritance tax if the farm is actually SOLD, not if it is handed down, or am I missing something ? A hidden agenda perhaps 🤯
Inheritance tax should be scrapped full stop, how many times does the same money get taxed over and over
@ Agreed but that’s another conversation entirely, particularly as the rate of inheritance tax has not increased by the same increase in house prices and let’s be honest this is where the majority of hard working people’s wealth sits. Thieving b*tards the lot of them.
Yes a very serious dangerous hidden agenda.
Irreversable, irreparable.
The point I made was the same. Handing down a farm to the next generation is just a change of management, nothing more ! As you said , if it's sold then inheritance tax should be paid. That should be the only time tax is payable .
The government wants to make farmers have to sell plots of land to build houses.
A disgusting tax
Whichever party promises to abolish IHT in their first budget and makes it a Manifesto commitment gets my vote.
I can't stand these people who have a cavalier approach to other people's suffering. Oh it's just 25% oh it's just a third. Good grief do these people have no feelings? I quite like to see him out of the job and any inheritance he makes is not able to pass on cause he's gonna pay for it all as taxed to the government. What an absolute low life.
Labour can’t see beyond tomorrow. They’re proving to be plain stupid , nothing thought through.
And it's stupidly plain , what this shower of bankers are trying to do ,we the people say no to this so called government.
Has Angela Rayner named one business that supports the Labour jobs changes and budget. Yet ??
Thank you supermarkets backstabbing starmer needs a hard lesson .
Labour have to go
Farmers should only pay inheritance tax if they sell the farm, if the farm is being passed down there should be no tax.
@johnhyde5517 for PM! Why can we see it but not the government 👍🏻
Farmers have more power than they know.
Leave the farmers alone.
ASDA, Morrisons, Boots, Co-op, Lidl and Aldi. Well done!👍
Self interest, nothing more.
It was ridiculous at the on-set No Farmers, no food
It’s about time the supermarkets got involved.
Wish they would also stop feeding Boaver to cattle in the UK. Many supermarkets are selling dairy produce from producers using Bovaer. This also needs to stop!
I totally agree with you we really don’t know what the side effects are! It is hard to know which supermarkets are using it - I am buying my milk from the Co-op!
@ there are channels that tell you the codes to work it out. Coop is in on it. Kerrygold butter, any ornua product, Arla, Muller. So coop cream and butters are by Muller, Aldi and Lidl Butters are, but Wyke farms butter isn’t. Organic produce doesn’t. Graham’s and Dale Farms milk doesn’t use it. You can find an online chart where dairy comes from to work out who’s using it, but most milks will have their dairy name on the container if it’s kept in them. I wouldn’t trust any supermarket without checking first. Most supermarkets have their own milk on trolleys are by Muller.
Well done supermarkets for supporting the farmers👏👏👏👏👏👏👏we must keep fighting this stupid tax🙏🤯😡
Why well done, they are doing solely because it's in their interest to do so.
I support the farmers. Starmer and his wicked Cult must go.
I never saw it before it is a cult. A very dangerous one.👍
That's 2 cults in the UK we don't need
When you get angry you have lost the argumemt
I've noticed all these leftist preaching equality, when asked few questions, get angry when they run out of reasonable arguments 🙄 The leftists hate the rich so much, but with mass exodus of millionaires & billionaires, they are worried about lost taxes from the people they hate so much!
When Supermarket chains ALL agree to deny ARLA products, when ANY manufacturer denies ARLA content, then and only then will I believe they have the interests of the Publuc at hand!!!😤
Oh shut up. Arla products are great. I can't believe people are still believing the misinformation spread around. Especially when I am an arla farmer and we aren't using bovaer.
Doesn't matter who you are or wot you are we all need good fresh food.
That's the way to go!!
The supermarkets & business needs to stand against the government take it into vote of no confidence....
New elections to be called for
What an idiot - politics of envy come into it too. Trying to defend the indefensible.
Justice isn't envy.
Are they now obscuring the outrage of ''bovaer''?
Stop him shopping from in them

Support for the farmers
Ah, at least Alex, the Labour spokesman said it is all about getting deeper in class warfare and getting stuck into the landowners. Private land, farming land that will never be used for farming. "This is an M&A activity.. So, how do they get their return on investment? A farmer trying to pay this tax over 10 years when they are struggling to survive let alone make sufficient profit to generate yet another tax.
Stand with the farmers ...they are thw salt of the earth ......
The supermarkets must be on the far right bandwagon.
Hopefully. Better than being a left facisit.
😂😂😂😂
Self interest, nothing more.
How can you present a valid argument (Alex Cairns...) when you state the majority have had their farms handed down to them by hereditary peers but also says they're only 30%, he's just reeling off random numbers to make it sound like he's an expert.
Instead of a moron.
He's isn't an expert on anything that is relevant
They don’t listen. They don’t want to hear. They won’t take a blind bit of notice 😢
❤ Patrick and Mo, great to hear that people standing with the Farmers
Would be nice to see all supermarkets banning labour MPS, now that would send them a clear message 🤪
We pay taxes on salaries, in fuel, on gas, on food, on medicne, on retail goods, on services, on TV, why the heck should people pay tax on your own home. That one guy called Axel is a clot
Because then people would buy property to use as a tax haven rather than for people to live in.
@Pantifaximile
Nonsense.
I live in a crappy little flat.
It's under 80,000 but it's mine and I would hardly call it a tax haven.
More like a constant running expense, given the repairs and upkeep.😮😂
@robertawallace9817 just because you haven't, doesn't mean other people won't. People have done it with farms and if they could do it with houses they would too.
@@Pantifaximilehow’s your job as a train driver going?
@David-q9g5i it's going great, I'm having to sell the farmland i bought to avoid inheritance tax though.
When we start going hungry they should start going to prison.

Well done the supermarkets.
But this government isn’t responsible to us they dance to the WEF tune.
Is this a backdoor strategy to achieve the eco nutters goal of destroying farming as we know it to ultimately commandeer the land for other purposes like wind and solar farms?
STuck Farmer! 👍🤘
What type of idiot thinks crippleing the most important industry in any country is a good thing? Farming is a strategic fundamental industry in EVERY country. No large counrty imports it's entier food supply and I don't think it would be even be possible!
Inheritance tax is fundamentally immoral. Whether it's a family farm, a house, an estate, a business or bullion, these investments are not money. A kilo of gold today will buy almost exactly the same amount of wheat, oil or property as it did 100 years ago. Any increase in the value of these assets over time is illusory and is in fact a decrease in the value of currency through inflation, which in itself is another form of unjust taxation.
I think you are confusing inheritance tax with capital gains tax. IHT has nothing to do with the increase (or not) in value of assets. It is a tax on estates of the deceased prior to their distribution to beneficiaries, to whom such distributions are unearned income.
@@robertstanley5555 You are quite right, careless of me.
As usual, the new upper class are against the Primary Producers.
They never went to Oxbridge. They never studied PPE.
Great news! Great to hear that the supermarkets are standing with our farmers. As for Starmer and Reeves: they are as hard as ice, and take a lot of heat to melt them!!!
The politics of envy, 'Citizen Smith' on steroids! 🤬
She won't change because that would mean she would have to admit wrong and pride comes higher up the scale.
Get Bill Gates out of farming too... abolish these stupid taxes... and Labour help the aged and the sick... tax the rich.. well done to the Supermarkets for supporting farmers ... Rachel from ac ounts must go
Tone deaf Alex doesn't speak for the public good to see super markets speaking up
We should have a general strike and get this labour government out.
So why have supermarkets been ripping farmers off for decades?
Because they can.
No idea Alex.
If all these supermarkets are siding with the Farmers they can start by stopping the milk and dairy market being poisoned with the Bovaer addative. That way they won't be hit any harder by the boycott of these products.
Great news 👏
TRUST ME : we support farmers. We have 2 brain cells…sadly the government stood in the back of the queue.when brain cells were handed out… Why not have those taxes apply to ‘no farming, farms, ONLY. Tax the tax dodgers, not genuine farmers.
Delighted to hear the names of large organisations supporting the farmers. I support the farmers.
Great news
Well done the coop and all other supermarkets
Politics of envy on full display. There are very old farmers who know if they die after April 2026 the farm they were born on and worked will have to be partly or wholly sold to pay a tax bill. The only solution that they have to save that farm is to die before April 2026! There are many many farms that don’t make enough profit to service the tax debt even over 10 years, some it would take 100% of their profit and some. People simply do not seem to understand that supermarkets refuse to pay a fair price and have squeezed profits to less than 1%. I’m very sure Labour know this but have a zealous desire to take the land.
Who is that top hat with the yellow back ground ??Is he supposed to be an expert ??
Well the meeting the Starmer government had with Blackrock in the beginning says it all this the way blacrock was able to buy so much farmland in America!!!
Wes streeting jist cancelled the building of 18 hospitals or simething so they are not using money for uk
hmmm supermarkets should have spoke up earlier maybe they worry more about rising import costs putting their prices up
Inheritance tax is evil actually this issue highlights that the state is far too greedy - maybe we should ban IHT altogether!
What's evil? It's just a tax on unearned income.
Thats not what it is at all! If you own something, bought and paid for and money and tax already taken, what right do the government have to interfere with those people passing what theyve worked all their lives for to their children. So if you own a phone and you give it to someone, do the government have a right to get money from the person you gave it to? Its just greedy and wrong! @Pantifaximile
@Pantifaximile no, you've paid tax already on your earnings, money saved up to purchase house, when you die, children pay for tax again. So wouldn't call it unearned income.
@CH-xl5nh so who earned the income that your children now recieve?
@@Pantifaximile tax on that earning had already been paid once by you.

Stop giving tax monies to foreign countries abroad bloody joke
They will be no farms left 😊
Yesssss, finally some big companies supporting our farmers…😊
Starmer's response "22 billion pound black hole....14 years of Tory rule" same as his response to absolutely everything.
The guy in the t-shirt is fairly clueless. e.g. he says 30 odd% of land is owned by rich people, Thus 60 odd% isnt, so why persecute the poorer land owners. And wrong- to get the IHT relief you do need to farm it yourself as far as I know. And he says its affordable and wont put farmers out of business. He and the labour government just want to support the public sector through tax.
