precious childhood memories come back to me. 6am from Queen st to Mallaig, then to Stornoway via Kyle of Lochalsh on 'loch seaforth' tea made on my gran's peat fire at the end of the day. 1956 to 1967, my mum took my sister and me to my grandparents in Ranish every summer. thank you Alan.
That certainly doesn't sound like Caledonian MacB or any other large firm. But if it still runs between Mallaig and Kyle of Lochalsh, it will be a very useful service - even if it isn't well publicied. Can anyone enlighten me, please?
Sorry to offend - if the Scotts don't tell us HOW THE HELL are we to know. And I don't have a Scottish accent either - condem me back to South of the Border then - and leave the United Kingdon too!

Program😊😊😊😊
We did that crossing about 25 years ago. The ferry was much smaller, boarding was via the roof of the wheelhouse.

Alan Snowdon couldn’t find it anymore. Was very memorable tour. Train from Fort William to Mallaig, boat to Kyle and train with lunch to Inverness.
That might have been by the “Loch Arkaig”, a converted minesweeper (lol). Mallaig-Kyle-Raasay-Portree.
Would you know of whereabouts of Cine Films made by late Peter Scott? He was such a wonderful man.
Nice to see adults properly dressed . Now all dressed like 6 years olds in T shirts and scruffy jeans
Don’t pay attention to the ignorant pronunciation of the placenames!
