    This is one of the only photography channels I regularly watch. Really inspires me to see my environment in a different light and be excited to shoot photos compared to many other more gear-oriented channels.

      Absolutely. I feel like Steve is one of those photographers I can relate to. Unlike some others, who I enjoy watching too, but can’t really relate or connect with them.

    You're too modest, as always.. I love your "wandering around" photographs (and especially with the prime lenses) You never disappoint. Thank you.

    You’re so right Steve about looking for the details. I find myself always looking at the big picture when there are so many interesting details in nature.

    Love the intimate images you captured. As a zoom shooter, it's difficult for me to want to shoot with primes but when I do, I'm usually happy I did.

    • @SteveONions
      @SteveONions  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Zooms offer so much flexibility it’s hard to argue their case but if I’m able to work with fixed focal lengths they are often a more satisfying experience. If the weather its bad I don’t like swapping lenses so the 28-300 VC stays permanently attached.

    Ditto love that second, larger shells image. Sometimes there's so much information that one can let go of the details! I wonder if a green filter could be useful to bring out mosses and leaves, not a commonly mentioned filter and I don't have one, just a thought. Cheers!

    • @SteveONions
      @SteveONions  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ve dabbled with green in the past but rarely found it to offer anything over the yellow and it also takes a lot more light. I do have a couple of yellow/green filters too and they work well for most landscape scenes.

    Nice wander at New Brighton there Steve. I like the shots of the sedimentary features in the sand like the ripple marks and rivulets. Its always something Ive tried to capture but they really need a low sun to get contrast so have inevitably failed!

    Interesting images. Tell you how literal I can be, when I read the title, I thought the whole thing would be macro shots. My favorite image is the baby shoes. Since they were abandoned and a bit forlorn, it made me think of how when our children are very young they want to hold our hands and skip and when they get older they outgrow it but we as parents lose something from that.

    Lovely photography, Steve. I hope you enjoy making these videos as much as we enjoy watching them. Thank you. PS: I was there three weeks ago at about 9:15 am, but more towards the other end where the boatyard is. The clouds were amazing and managed a couple of half decent photographs with the D810.

      Glad you enjoyed it, I often find myself down on the prom there when I get tired of the forest. I went back recently and took a picture of the boatyard with a new camera, it gave me quite a different view of things.

    Wonderful images with super blue sky and billowing clouds! The mass shell and weathered structure super. I doubt, I'd be able, to do video and photography! I can multi-task, but a step, too far! Great photography! I use zooms but know the rendition, less than what I can!

    Hi Steve, some nice shots there. I always find the shoreline an interesting location and a great time out regardless of anything I shoot, and I couldn't agree more with your zooms versus primes preference, though obviously changing the headgear made a big difference this time ;-) Thanks for posting.
