The name Ladybird originated from Europe. Where it was originally called,' Our Ladybird Beetle'. The story is.... The Aphids were sucking the juice from the farmers grape vines. So the farmers prayed to the virgin Mary for help. Later lots of little red Beetles showed up and ate the Aphids. The farmers thought there prayers had been answered. So they named the helpful Beetles in honour of Mary. Who is also known as, 'Our Lady'. So they called it, Our Ladybird Beetle. Now known as Ladybird or Ladybeetle. When the Ladybirds were introduced in America in the mid 1950's, to control pests in Californias citrus orchids. The Americans changed their name to Ladybug. But they are really called Ladybird Beetles. I hope this helped. The Ladybird symbol represents, Good luck, fortune and prosperity. 🙂🐞🐞🐞 You can buy Ladybirds in Australia, to put on your plants.
