Thanks for this great tip. In the SE TX area and we tried to use our 30 amp RV while power was out hooked up to a 5500 watt / 20 amp generator and came across the same issues you describe here. Was thinking of purchasing a 30 amp larger capacity generator bu this product may be the perfect solution and save us some mula!
Hey Jim im very interested We will look closer as this. We are building the truck right now and i like this option The one question i have is do you have a surge protector hard wired after soft start or do you put a surge protector before the soft start. I will try to find out what if anything needs to be considered But i love this idea....oh does it work with multiple AC units ? Cheers Guys 😊
So your surge protector will go after this in line to your power cord. SoftStartUp says it can run 2 a/c units on 30amp. Will be testing that later in the month on a friend's rig. Will be an updated video.
Valid point. This unit is for people who don't want to install anything. Also you can keep it if you trade in or sell your RV and take it with you to the new RV. Really depends on your needs or wants. It does have a locking ring on it. Thanks for watching.
OK, WTH? I was literally just thinking that I wish there was a soft start for the AC unit, because it often bogs my generator before it can get it rolling. That's pretty creepy.
Well, I don't know what to say. Weird things happen, lol! It worked well with my generator. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching.
I wish you would have started 2 A/C’s on 30 amp. You only referred to starting 1 A/C with the soft start. 30 amp will start an a/c without the soft start, but not two a/c’s. The test should have been to start two a/c’s on 30 amp with the soft start without blowing the circuit breaker. That’s the info I was looking for.
Great feedback! We will be doing a test on 2 ac units on 30A later this month! Our rv only has 1 AC, and that is what this video was for. Keep an eye out for that video when we demo the unit on a 50A RV. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks guys! Hope you both are doing well!

Sounds like SoftStartUp would work well for your 20A outlet. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks for watching!
😮 looks like a great product. Do you know what is the smallest generator you can use it with to run one ac?
According to Soft Start USA, it can run AC off of a 2200 watt generator. Thanks for watching!
@@rjrvadventures Thanks for the info! Enjoy your channel!
Sounds good to me not having to get up on the roof! Thanks for sharing.
Yes! Having the ability to take it with you is great. Thanks for watching!
Why would you have to climb on the roof?
The original SoftStart is wired directly to the Air Conditioner. This unit is plug and play. No wiring is necessary. Thanks for watching.
Been looking at these for a long time now I think they are a great tool if you can keep it from getting stolen.
Yes, I agree it is an amazing tool for the RV. BtW it does have a ring on it so you can lock it with a cable lock. Thanks for watching! Safe travels!

Woah, that's a cool idea.
Yes it is! Thanks for watching!
We could do with these in the UK a great piece of equipment!
It is a great piece of equipment. Not sure about EU capabilities yet. I will ask my contact.
For the cost of one of these devices. You can have a stand smart start installed in dual AC units. Never worry it gets stolen.
