    Dimensions: 20" x 14.5" x 10" (WxHxD)
    Weight: 17.4 lbs
    Specs: 18mm shell, 12mm baffle & back

    I was looking for bee hive box cabinet videos and came across yours. Your cab looks great! Kind of expensive though. For U.S. $210 one can get a Monoprice 1x12 and comes built, with the $170 Celestion Vintage30 (not my favorite but whatever) inside....so it's just a $40 cabinet. Anyways, the idea I have for the $23 bee box is to try to fit the Monoprice 15w 1x12 combo guts, but I think it needs a little widening inside to slide in the chasis. Fun stuff.

    Nice job. I like the look as is. The A type I think is an underrated speaker and it's not too pricey.

    Looks awesome and sounds really good. Out of curiosity is it possible to connect the NUX acoustic amp to it? I’ve never tried this but I’m curious what it would sound like, or if it would sound about the same tone and volume wise.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! that's a good point, it could be done but the acoustic amp has an FRFR speaker (well 2 speakers, woofer and tweeter) whereas the A-Type in the cab is specifically designed for electric guitar as a mid boosted speaker, i'm not sure it'll sound much good (and definitely not better) cheers though

  • @BRLaue

    Nice clean job and it sounds great. I would add on to the previous comment and suggest a 2x12 cabinet covered in surf green tolex, and then purchase a Bugera V22 head which are great sounding and a good value and recover that with the green tolex. You would have a seriously custom great sounding rig. Cheers!

    Well, I had a base speaker built for mean years ago. I discovered that the thing was a huge magnet and probably killed my computer.
    If you don't put the speaking in some kind of magnetic shielding then you'll probably have a similar problem.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’ll only happen if you have the speaker right next to the computer or CRT monitor? Don’t think it’s really to much of an issue today (could be wrong)

      @@DerekPaulGuitar I'm so gonna build a cabinet now😂😂😂😎😎😎 busy looking for the right speaker, I play in my house and kinda play very heavy stuff so I can't make toooo much noise I figure, so what do you think ......a cabinet with only one very high end speaker?

    • @DerekPaulGuitar

    For LESS money, I bought high quality WALNUT wood. A light coat of shellac and it looks 10x better than this. It's a box, easy to put together with some pocket screws and bracing.
    No tolex- but next time, do use a better quality wood from the start. That kit would be ok if it was $50 or less as a back up ext. cab.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be fair, there are many people out there with zero woodworking skills, my self included and a kit like this just makes sense, however if you do have the skills then I’m sure you’ll knock up an amazing ext. cab, thanks for the comment!

      Both in terms of sonic properties as well as weight vs strength, plywood is the perfect material for cabinets: the layers make it stronger than solid wood, and they increase stiffness, which reduces the chance of resonating frequencies.
      But walnut does look much nicer, no question there.
