    I bought 6 for under $3 2 days ago. They're still alive. Woot. Thanks for the vid. Starting with my first planted tank and I'm hoping to fill it with shrimp.

    Ghost shrimp are hardy but they are picky eaters, even when there is food around. They die of starvation in my experience. The easiest and most prolific is the Malawa Shrimp. Although they may need a heater on cooler weather, they are easy to feed and easy to breed. They breed constantly and seems to thrive well with snails, since they eat much of the same things.

      My ghost shrimp readily eat fish flakes and pellets with no problems, strange.

    My husband bought spirulina pellets online for our bottom feeders and our ghost shrimp fight over them. 😂

      Same with my shrimp! It's the cutest thing seeing them fight over pellets with their little legs 😂

    Haha same! I have a ghost shrimp that will swim to the top when I'm feeding my Betta blood worms and snatch lil bits right next to the Betta to the bottom & eat lol

    i'm OK with what you say, but neocaridina are in my opinion as simpel to keep and breed in (harder) tapwater, and can be as fun as well. A neocaridina is a very easy beginners shrimp as well... The only difference is that the ghost is bigger and has more options for tankmates.

    These are great for a newbie like myself. My goal is to have a 200 gallon shrimp/planted tank one day in my livingroom.

      yo you should make it yourself!! you can watch serpadesign’s videos to learn how if you’d like haha, it’s a lot less expensive than buying a 200 gal :)

    Thank you that helps so much because I’m a beginner and I have 5 pregnant shrimps and I have a question “do yo have to separate the pregnant shrimps from other shrimps or is it fine to keep them together while the babies are hatching or about to hatch?” Because yes I know I am a beginner but I have 14 shrimps total and it’s kind of a small tank ( 15 gallon tank )

    • @andrewesquivel
      @andrewesquivel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my own personal experience it's usually fine to keep The Offspring with the parents

    • @amyn314
      @amyn314 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      andrewesquivel I was saying that I have 14 all together her so it is fine o keep them together when the eggs are hatching

    Got some ghost shrimp to see if I could keep them alive, and they stayed alive, so I got some Cherry Shrimp and now am hoping I have at least one male among nine of them. They are mostly chubby so I am thinking those are female since I can't see inside them and none have eggs. I have one that is paler and thinner that I am guessing is a male. But descriptions of the differences between male and female seem vague, and depending on a female having eggs (duh), with descriptions of males being very vague: not as colorful, the body a little straighter, the body a little thinner. They all look like females to me, except a paler, thinner one that could be a male.

    I know this is an old video but I actually bought 2 ghost shrimp a couple days ago from pets at home and they sell them as amano shrimp , i could tell when i bought them they were a little different with not having the spots of an amano shrimp , but do you think this is intentional on their part or are they to blame? or should i inform them of their mistake?

    • @cwong408
      @cwong408 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      blookyBill Cipher from what I have seen amano shrimp are more expensive like around 3-4 dollars while ghost shrimp are only like 39 cents so maybe they're trying to up charge?

      Antony Jefrin ghost shrimp are pretty sassy and rough at times. They've been known to attack betta fish. When it comes to feeding time, they can get rather aggressive. I don't think I would feel comfortable recommending to keep ghost shrimp alongside other shrimp like cherries. They'll do fine with other mild temperament shrimp like Amano shrimp, but the most peaceful shrimp might succumb to injuries due to these guys

      they easily make up for it in sass, intelligence and entertainment value!
      as much as i love my carbon rili colony, dwarf shrimp are kinda boring, compared to watching a ghost shrimp steal food from under a 5" pleco, or debate over territorial rights on a slice of cucumber with a dwarf crayfish.
      plus they're much more fit for community tanks.
