    Without a doubt this is one of the best ride videos I've seen. Perfectly captures the spirit of riding with some buddies and no obnoxious music/editing. Awesome vid!

    This series makes me miss a place I called home for 5 years so much! I loved my KLR so much that I brought it back to the UK. We don't have the epic trails and riding though! Did the park to park on my own, the Midhurst Trail ride and numerous trips with the ODSC including over 870km on dirt roads in one day. Great series of vids Mason!

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For some time now I thought you all were bombing along in blind bliss and I was riding like a grandma in my old age. It's nice to see you DO take technical stuff more at my speeds. My liter V-Strom loaded for a trip is about 270kg. Add 135kg for me, and I'm a great greased hog in the mud, with the 80 street/20 trail tires. I miss the days of a 90kg me and a 130kg enduro. I'll finally get knobbed out with the new tires, if I can wear these out. Melon could do 150km drafting behind me... :-)

    It was interesting to see the Merrickville section. Too bad about the new asphalt. Looks like you might have skipped the Burnt Lands section or just didn't include it. I have to say, I really enjoyed watching you guys at the water crossing with the big rocks. I did a classic 'flying W' (On Any Sunday) when I discovered them. As with everyone else, I'm looking forward to next Sunday and one week closer to riding season. Thanks for your great work.

    • @Melon-gb5vd
      @Melon-gb5vd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ron Timber we did skip it Ron only because we thought we would be strapped for time at the camp and it’s a good thing we did because we got to the camp with still enough light to set up

    Looks like a lot of fun Mason! If one of the bikes goes over in the water I imagine there would be a bit of a process to get it running again? Drain the carb and possibly the spark plugs? What if it was fuel injected what would you have to do?

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well with three guys we would stand it up on its tail and empty the exhaust then remove the air filter and dry it and the housing out, drain the float bowl and pull the plug. Crank it a couple times to remove any water from the cylinder and add a couple drops of oil in the plug hole. Button it back up and hope for the best! A fuelie is the same except the carb part. It's best to not have that happen lol. Cheers BoC!!

    Does melon have a different brand of coms because that maybe why he drops out? Another awesome episode guys!

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the coms were perfect in helmet Shawn, that's why we didn't know until we got home. It was a mic issue on the camera side that let us down :( Believe it or not, some of the gear is getting older and it can be difficult to keep up with the attrition. I think it's sorted but it's always a gamble when we head out. Lots of "moving parts" so to speak. Cheers and thanks for watching!

  • @petergoddard1960
    @petergoddard1960 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some epic saves and 'moments' there, a great episode for sure. A real pleasure to watch. I'm particularly impressed with the little CRF and how it kept up with the more powerful bikes. I have the CRF 250 Rally, and was wondering what tyres (sorry UK spelling!) melon was running as they seemed fine for the asphalt and the dirt. If he would care to chime in that is.
    First comment of the New Year, so here's wishing you all a great 2019! Regards from the UK.

    When you do "air down" your tires what do you air down to? Looks like a great ride!

      Up here I run 18 psi but we don't have the rocks that we were dealing with on the trip so I left them at 22 psi for this run.

      Masons ADV thank you sir, I’ve never aired mine down before, I did have a issue with some mud that I will post soon...I’m sure airing down would of helped.

    How many miles does the crf get before fill up typically?

    • @Melon-gb5vd
      @Melon-gb5vd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jared Klr so I normally get 160km before the fuel gauge starts flashing and about 60kms after that but it varies with throttle and my luggage weight. On the trip I filled whenever I saw a gas station lol
