Dude, Hellbound is my favourite album by them, the melodies and riffing are great in the album and the breakdowns worked. in this song the breakdown just kinda.. happens. not really exciting.
It wasn't meaningless though. It obviously had a place in the composition because the build up to it was really well structured. . Other bands in this genre like to use a ton of chugging throughout their songs, so that when the actual breakdown comes, the impact is diminished. When I heard this for the first time, that breakdown caught me completely off-guard. Like, holy balls. It's one of my favorite breakdowns ever, because of the abruptness of it. I'm not saying I don't understand what you mean, but I think you missed their intentions with that breakdown entirely.
