This is so RELATABLE! I get into arguments with my parents every time they plan to visit Nepal. Unnecessarily pleasing everyone and making their lives miserable, thats what they love to do 😫
Haha totally understand the expectations of family members back home. I think we could buy a house in cash in the UK from the amount we have 'loaned' to family members over the years... But it is tough in Nepal, I was talking to hotel staff and they earn just 18k npr a month whilst working like 10 hours a day 6 days a week in a decent hotel in Durbar Marg KTM. Less than what I earn in a day in the UK. Most jobs are very low paid and there is high unempolyment. Also, Nepal is corrupt af so it is tough to start a successful business without some connections. That's why most people try to leave nepal after finishing their education. My cousin had to do unpaid internship in a cafe to get some experience just to work in subway in Kuwait...
My mum was going back from the UK to Nepal after spending a few months here. Her friend called and asked her to take some stuff back to Nepal. My poor mum said okay expecting them to bring a few kgs. This shameless aunty brought 1 large suitcase worth of clothes and chocolate. Ffs most of them from primark and chocolates that u get in Nepal. I am not joking but it was atleast 20kg. When my mum said she had her own stuff/suitcase and this shameless auntry said, " put your stuff in this suitcase and leave your suitcase here". I was like "what the fuck is going on here". I barged in and shouted at this aunty snd asked her to choose 5 stuff and take away the rest. They dont talk to us/ my mum anymore.
