- We went to Bizerte on a day trip from Tunis and finally managed to try lablabi (chickpea stew) in a bread roll - it was hot, soft and mushy, and filled us up.
We also chanced upon a cute little shop selling Assidat Zgougou (pinenut porride/ cream), a Tunisian sweet, which was available in a number of variations and we chose the one made from hazelnut and pistachio. We also tried another dessert which we couldn't quite work out but was yummy, with a caramel sauce :)
We then stopped for a rest and some mint tea at the harbour before returning to Tunis.
Bizerte is a lovely town and definitely worth visiting!
A couple of the places we visited don't appear to be on GoogleMaps, but the lablabi was from a place called Jebalia Lablabi on the main road into Bizerte from Zarzouna (near a park/ fountain).
The Assidat Zgougou was from 66 Kiffe on Rue Bab El Khoukha in Bizerte.
The cafe we visited was Salon de thé at the Medina, and near overlooking the harbour.
