Another perspective regarding allowing "others" to collect data - its about storage issues. The big 5 which includes SIGINT & GEOINT have the processing power but imagine if they themselves had to store EVERYTHING versus using access to databases. It would require a massive data center beyond the NSA's in Utah. That would cause attention as well as raise that location's security risk to a very high target. Then there is the ability to be able to "hide" and "secure" data at Private Entities & Commercial Enterprises through non disclosure agreements.
Wait until it becomes public WHY they were worried about who may be travelling thru the airport, at that time and what documents they did not want to leave the country! And why the lawyers said "don't leave thru Toronto," while reminding the person to " wear a wide brimmed hat always". There was a problematic Appeal in the courts that is even missing from the Supreme Court record ... the Toronto Fire Fighters say " a lot of people will be really pissed off". SNC Lavalin is nothing compared to what these Old Boys have been up to...
