      @@detectivedaffodil437 Yes, particularly since she DOES (kind of) in the book. I’m paraphrasing here, but Mr. Rochester says something along the lines of “Do you think less of your charge now that you know of her dubious parentage?” And Jane responds with essentially, “Actually, the opposite. Why would I would prefer a spoiled rich kid who hates me and looks down on me to a lonely orphan who sees me as a friend?” I think it’s definitely another scene that sets her apart from Miss. Ingram in Mr. Rochester’s eyes because Blanche makes her distaste for Adele pretty obvious.

    This is such a wonderful film, and Mia and Michael are such fantastic actors. I would welcome an extended cut of the film - I find the whole atmosphere of this Jane Eyre and the chemistry between these actors to be so transporting that I'd love to have more time in that world. Carey Fukunaga is quite a talented director.

    I'm very picky when it comes to Jane Eyre but I found this version quite interesting. It's true, it's not all centered around the romance, it puts more emphasis on Jane's and Rochester's decisions, morality. It works very hard on viewers' impressions (music, photography, costumes) instead of giving all the dialogues (deleted scenes). It's not easy to find a new perspective on the novel with all those great past adaptations, but C. Fukunaga succeeded.

    Every shot is like a painting, perhaps painted by Degas or Manet, a French Impressionist but it could have been done by Jacques Louis David in Neoclassical style, nonetheless it's quite stunning, the colors and the delineation of feelings through two bodies moving in space.

    to whom never read the novel,
    if you know the truth oh Adele's mother you will know how good is Rochester. it is just his defensiveness guarding him from trusting any woman and that was obvious by the way he talks to lady Ingram.
    he was like this until he met Jane then he realized how rare she is and deserve to be treated by his true character and morals

    I agree with most of you, they should have shortened the intro and the school scenes and included some key moments between Rochester and Jane. Having read the book, I knew exactly what was missing, but if one was to watch the movie with no background knowledge, it would be hard to understand some of the reasons that Jane and Rochester act. Besides that, Fassy and Wasikowska have done a terrific job with their portrayals. Fassbender is the best Rochester yet!

  • @POPARAZZIMONSTER90

    It is sad how they took out some of the key moments between Jane and Rochester, such as this one. I really wish they had done the fortune telling scene while the guests stayed at Thornfield- now THAT would have been epic, between her and Rochester. :}

    I love this scene! It brings some lightness and joy to the film. I understand that the story is quite dark in itself and I like it that the film creators stayed true to its darkness, but some rays of sunlight once in a while are essential to the story too. ;-)) (life is not all darkness, IMHO).

    One more thing that I think was VERY well done: the age difference was far more clear in this version' Mia can be such a gentle flower and she;'s the right age to playJane; while I say Rochester was hollywoody, there was still some chord about him that clicked at one point. And i LOVED the contrast with St John, they made it very explicit!
    I did like Dalton and Stephens as Rochesters though. But I think I'll come to like this one more.

    Why would they cut this scene? I find it a little disappointed that they decided to show as least from Adele as they possibly could in this version of the film. • @SOLYAHU
    @SOLYAHU 12 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    It has more action & dialogue, in this respect it's easier. The parts where Jane & Rochester are together are fascinating. On the other hand, it's longer than JA's books, and it's not only about the romance but also about moral issues & social status & the chances of a woman alone in the world. If you found JA a tedious read, start Jane Eyre all the same and if you feel it's difficult, turn the pages till you see Thornfield & Rochester. If it doesn't catch you there, it's not your book.

  • @missrobertpeter

    I can not believe they cut this scene out of the film. If you have read the book you will know there is a lot more interaction between Jane and Rochester and I was quite disappointed when I watched the film by how much of the crucial parts they left out and it was scenes like this that would have made the film! Just the simple parts with Jane and Edward getting to know each other. Should have left it in!

  • @englove369
    @englove369 13 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @hacsince1991 He doesn't "admit that she's his daughter". He just says that that's what the woman told him, and of course she would want him to believe that when he was paying for her to have so much (she wouldn't want to risk it all being taken away). We're left not knowing either way, but it seems that he knows deep down regardless of what his mistress said, that Adele isn't his. This is pretty much how it is in the book as well:)
    Thanks for posting these deleted scenes!

    I honestly do not see why such an important and well acted scène had to be cut. There were a lot of beautiful shots of the scenery, but I would gladly have traded one in for this one. The film needed more scènes with just them in it. I didn't feel their special connection. In this scène I do.

  • @vonBottorff
    @vonBottorff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It was cut because it did not move the story along, rather, it is a stumbling point. R confronts J with a tough-luck story thereby putting her in a can't-win situation. If she psycho-babbles too much she looks pedantic know-it-allish, but as the scene is done, she plays it cool but then seems both confused and annoyed. In short, J is diminished, which is not good.

    Weell, Both are like equal but, there´s a but, jane eyre has a lot of suspense and is like a gothic romance novel the thing that makes you keep reading it and jane austen´s books for example Pride and prejudice are more romantic and sometimes you get bored. in the part of pride and prejudice that i got bored was when they stop talking about MR. Darcy and elizabeth, and just was talking about elizabeth´s sister (Jane)
    (Charlotte Bronte´s books are larger than jane austen´s books)

    @swrandomartist17 Um, actually, Fassbender's looks would have been considered unattractive in that time. If you were a man with very girlish features like a soft face and blond hair, you would have been considered handsome, but if you were tall, broad and had sharp features and dark hair, you were considered ugly.

  • @SOLYAHU

    There's some misunderstanding here, read back lovehim4ever11's message. I replied to whether Jane Eyre is easier to read than Jane Austen's books. When I write JA, I refer to Austen and I abbreviate her name only because of the character limit. I'm probably your age (based on the movies you like) and read Jane Eyre as well as all Austen's books at least 5 times. Don't challenge me. And don't take assumptions.

    I just been to see the movie. It's just that they focused on something else entirely in this version...on showing Jane, n showiung the atmosphere that surrounded her, on bringing out the gothic-romantic atmosphere, which was sorely missing from previous versions. This one was actually scary at times. I do agree, though, thry overemphasized cinematography. I found thius Mr Rochester a tad too hollywoody at first but I got used to him. Mia looked like Ophelia at times. I liked i!

    They really cut alot of key moments from between Jane and Rochester which i wish they would've kept in - i'd have much rathered they shrink the childhood/st john sections and added more between her and Rochester. I've been spoiled by the 2006 mini series (which is brilliant) which contained a lot more between them. I missed the gypsy scene, and the moment he sees she's crying, and just small moments. this was nice. :)
