      Update: I've finished mine a couple of days ago with some adjustments for worsted weight yarn and a 6mm hook because that's what I had, and wore it yesterday. I love it! Thank you for the pattern! 😍😊

      @@lizzuuu3831what did you change in the pattern? I have a worsted weight yarn, I started with 62 foundation chain stitches and worked up 10 rows of mesh. That seems to fit down from my elbow to my armpit. I’m wondering how to approach the front and back panels. Any advice? Should I just chain until it reaches my waist?

      I hope it worked out well for you x I've only crocheted a couple of small toys before but I've started this today and it's such basic stitches it's going well so far. Just in a couple of hours I have done one sleeve and cast on for the front and back and done a couple of rows of that. It grows so quickly. I couldn't afford the expensive cotton yarn as with postage it would have cost me about £70 and I wasn't that confident but I got some cheaper chunky acrylic in a nice denim blue. I don't think it's is only suitable for a beach jacket. It will add warmth to a thin sweater during these cold Winter months here in the UK. I know there's some tricky bits to do but fingers crossed I manage to finish it and both fronts are the same length .. lol. I have a habit of gaining or losing stitches when I try to crochet. xx

    I have about 30 skeins of LB Hometown in sage, maroon, and dark pine green (not exact names.. it’s only 6 am) I bought at Walmart on Clearance for $2 a few years ago. I tried making a sweater, but it would be a workout wearing it. It weighed a ton! I found out I don’t care for it (except the sage, it was a bit thinner, easier to use). Now chunky/ bulky is another story! I adore the thick chunky cozy fabric it creates.

    I’m currently doing this one with some 4 weight yarn and it’s so light and airy and wonderful. I frogged a different project that I wasn’t loving to reclaim the yarn and it’s great! It was already tied into one giant ball so the lack of ends is amazing!

      Did you need to adjust anything with the pattern if you used 4 weight yarn? I

    • @Blue.Berry.Gums.
      @Blue.Berry.Gums. ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jodie7958 I made it to my size, I’m XL/2XL and wanted it long. I adjusted to my size but otherwise used the same size hook, stitch, and format of the pattern. I’m obsessed with this piece!
      As mentioned above, I reused some yarn from a failed project. I had 2 cakes of Yarn Bee sugarwheel in a color way that might be discontinued. I added a skein of yarn bee soft and sleek because it was part of that failed project. I have almost a cakes worth leftover.
      I skipped the collar and did a row of linen stitch in some of the yarn in each color (my yarn is color blocked deep blue, lavender, mustard, sage, light pink, dusty red) around the opening and sleeve cuffs. I get SO many compliments every time I wear it! I’m planning on making another one in size 4 yarn. It’s amazing!

      @@Blue.Berry.Gums. hey!! I'm looking to make this pattern with weight 4 yarn as well. I'm a size S. What crochet hook did you use? If you follow the pattern exactly as is (according to the appropriate size), does it still turn out appropriately sized? I assume it'd be smaller because of the thinner yarn?

    • @Blue.Berry.Gums.
      @Blue.Berry.Gums. ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@wild4wilde_ that will depend on your tension. I felt that it was still a similar gauge because I’m very true to hook size with the way I crochet. The holes are big and the project is light and loose. Try a swatch of 15 stitches or whatever feels right and work up a square. Stretch it out and wash it. See what you like. ☺️ I crochet on feelings and vibes. If I don’t like how something is going, I will just go back and adjust. Patterns are my guide and inspiration, not my rule book.

      Idk the dimensions but I used the bigger sizes as a guide and kept chaining 4 extra ones until it fitted me comfortably. I used 4.5mm hook on sugar and cream yarn and I chained 42 and that fitted me comfortably. Also I found that for the longer measurements for me I had to double them and add 4 so for the front and back panels I chained 62 instead of 29. Hopefully this helps.

You can't tell because my seam is inside of the overshirt. Or you could measure it and do a couple of rows of single crochet to tidy it up. I did 6 rows of single crochet on the bottom and 3 rows around the neck opening and 12 rows for the collar. Hope this helps.

    • @MsRikkiTikki1
      @MsRikkiTikki1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@snakyboi6917 okay I followed your suggestions and then for the front panel, I chained 62 like you suggested. It worked perfectly. I did 12 rows of mesh because that came right up about an inch or 2 away from my neck. I split the middle and i just did a little quick math trial and error to figure it out.
      After I split, then crocheted up to the split, and 2 more DC after that, per the pattern directions, here’s what I did and it worked.
      I counted the remaining DC bars that were unworked in the row, I doubled that number, and added 4 chains at the end. So when I “skipped five stitches” I was starting my first DC bar and it lined right up! I messed it up the first time and added an extra DC by mistake but I frogged and used the technique I just told you and I’m lining everything up now and it seems to be matching up nicely!
      The pattern creator isn’t responding to anyone’s comments with questions so we’ve gotta help each other out here!

    Great pattern and instructions!
    I wouldn't recommend the DMC Nova Vita yarn though, that's what I bought, and it's VERY heavy, and also pretty stiff, so not really a good yarn for clothes in general I think. Unless you like your crochet makes to double as weighted blankets.
    I did the edges and collar in another color and it works really well btw

    Ok, this is super cute, like so cool. I was wondering how you'd make one long sleeve though? I feel like for fall it'd be a neat cardigan.

      I'd think you just do more rows until the sleeve is as long as you want it. Although I wouldn't know if it had a dropped shoulder so would be hard to judge length. How about if you don't start with the sleeve but cast on all the stitches for the front and back and then when you fit it on and can see how long the sleeves need to be you could pick up the stitches on the shoulder and work the sleeves downwards until you have the exact length you want.

    I love this shirt and wish I could figure out how to make it work for me. The size Sm/Med is too big for me. All that fabric is wasted. I am so very disappointed others did not share how they achieved a fit using smaller yarn and hook. No one shared although several were asked.

      I plan to take paper or a bed sheet to make the "T" shape pattern that fits me. Then cover the pattern with crochet stitches as the tutorial shows. Any thread, any hook combo should work.

    Would it be possible to make something similar by knitting vs crocheting? I love everything about this, but my crochet skills are not on this level yet lol. I'm curious if there are any knitting stitches/techniques that would give a similar wide mesh result.
