The 741 has been a goto op amp for many years due to its wide swing voltage and current cability. The fact that it also has a null circuit, makes this ic a great choice for a wide variety of circuts and the price is really good.

    That looks familiar 😁
Large size Op-Amp for older technicians. 😂

I like this , Now we need a 555 like that....

There is one. shop.evilmadscientist.com/tinykitlist/652. It's called The Three Fives!

That voltage standard caught my attention. Did you do a show about that yet?

IF you input negative -5vdc and you get positive +8vdc that is wrong, it should be positive +5vdc. I'm not sure why the input voltage of the Opamp inverter is not following the output voltage.

That's something you should expect from an IC, but this is a board filled with discrete components. There's an awful lot that can happen at every junction, and the biasing resistors weren't the tightest tolerance in the world, either.
There's more than enough reason to expect some slight amplification on this setup instead of a perfect following, and the weirdness you're pointing out lives well within an experienced hobbyist's expectations.
To be honest, there was a time not so long ago when this would have bothered me, too. I totally understand.

This "741" is made up of about 75 discreet components. All bought for the lowest cost. Don't expect too much accuracy. A real 741 will behave better

@@learnelectronics try using a normal stock 741 or 4558 to see the accuracy in the video because its confusing

Some of us thought that discrete components representation of the op amp was supercool, but thanks anyway for clearing it up with the input and output voltages.
