    I have sat in awe this last half hour. The most beautiful notebook I've ever seen! I made a boring one for my granddaughter. I used wet glue and did not like the results. I have learned so much! Thank you!

      Thank you so much for watching. One hint about using glue in altered notebooks is that it does work but less is more and often times you only need to go around the edges and just a small amount in the middle. I like using Aleene's tacky glue if I am going to glue onto covers of notebooks or in my junk journals.

      Thank you so much! Once you have made a couple of altered notebooks like this they do come together faster. Usually the tough part for me is deciding what paper and laces I want to use. I try to pick up a lot of my laces at yard sales and thrift stores or buy them when they are on sale at the craft stores like Hobby Lobby as they can be spendy. I also recently purchased a wedding dress at the thrift store that I will be taking apart to use the laces and appliques on it for projects like this and then will use the material to make flowers out of so nothing will be wasted.

      Too funny! Glad you didn't put the video on notice. It was a tough decision to change my name on You Tube and realize that there will be some confusion for awhile but thought it was better to change it now and not 1000 subscribers later as I really wanted a little more of a crafty name. I hope all is well with you!

    Can you use mod podge to apply the front ,back,and inside covers.?

    • @PaperPlaywithJulieK
      @PaperPlaywithJulieK  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nadia, yes you definitely can use mod podge or another type of artist glue to glue down the pages to the covers. I would recommend gluing small sections at a time and taking out any air bubbles as you go to reduce wrinkles and then once it is dry going over the top of it with another layer of mod podge.

    Why do gesso the edges only if your covering with paper

    • @PaperPlaywithJulieK
      @PaperPlaywithJulieK  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I choose to gesso the edges so that when I use the distress tool to distress the paper edges and they rip a little it shows the white underneath versus the black of the original composition notebook. It is just a personal choice on my part and wouldn't have to be done. I just prefer the white gesso showing versus the black notebook for the shabby chic style. (hopefully this makes sense)

    Wow i love this. I have tried doing shabby chic but it comes out shabby trash lol

    • @PaperPlaywithJulieK
      @PaperPlaywithJulieK  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deb, thank you so much for watching and commenting. Your comment made me smile today and I needed that. I am still in the learning process for the shabby style as mine oftentimes lean towards a more vintage style and I haven't quite mastered the numerous layers of laces on my shabby projects that I see so many wonderful women create here on You Tube. When I try to add more layers of laces to my shabby projects they usually don't look that great and just look like someone added one too many layers so I tend to use a little less and am usually happy with the results.
