I've not broken my thermistor, but I need to clean mine out & I'm anticipating breaking it. So I've made sure to watch your video before my rough impatient hands have a go.

looking this car 2008 only drawback is no hot heat or cold cooling. your video gives me insight into the issue, with a possible $7 part as the solution. makes me feel more confident about the risk of buying a car with issues. nice job on the video. only showed what needed to be straight forward .even showed we all fumble through new tasks , but it doesn't stop use from doing something just because we haven't before. liked and will check back in again thanks😊
Thank you for walking through this process. I have to do this on our 06 V70 as the temperature is all over the place... And re-solder the fan volume resistor connections.
Thank you very much. I fixed Volvo S60 cabin temp sensor with 10k thermistor and now temperature control works just like it should be. Before the fix heater just gave very hot or very gold, nothing between those :D
Oh crap… I did the same thing! It was a little chilly on my tour from Texas to Colorado to KC and back, no wonder my feet were freezing! I just stumbled onto your video. Thank you for the great instructions. My seat belt locked up, so I have to take it apart and send it off, order this part…then put it all back together. I’m having that Love / Hate issue with this vehicle 🙃 p.s. luv steeler lanyard
Thank you for your insight. I will give this a try. Purchased my 06 xc90 v8 used and it came with fluctuating hot/cold air on passenger side only. And it sounds like a puppy grunting. I looked at thermistor and it appears to be missing. Just a wire left. Hopefully this corrects the issue so my passenger doesn't freeze in winter.
Great video. Can you explain the correlation between the service airbag message and the battery? Curious because I just changed my CEM and now have the message. I disconnected the battery prior. Also, my blower suddenly stopped, now it’s working again! Do you think it has to do with needing a computer reset/camba? Thanks!
Thanks!! You will need to reset the computer with Vida. The reason is because of the vehicles CAN network, all the modules are connected to each other and if one is missing the SRS system shows a failure. Also when you changed your CEM did you have it programmed for the car? Sounds like not.
Thanks for the reply. Very interesting! I’m new to these cars. I sent my failure prone CEM out to Xemodex inc. they pulled the info from it and swapped it over to another CEM. They add a couple of heat sinks to help mitigate the overheating issue. They state it’s plug and play, but I suspect not. So I definitely need to get the computer reset then it sounds like. I just thought it was odd I wasn’t having these issues prior to installing the replacement CEM.
@@timbermansam ah okay if you got it from xemodex you are good!! Maybe just missed a plug or something? But if you have Vida you can easilly reset the airbag error assuming nothing is actually wrong.
How much does the vida cost and where to get it? Our heater fan stopped working. I used canned air to clean sensor. It still did not work but the next morning it worked fine all day but has not worked since. Any suggestions appreciated.
Is there a way to test the function of the thermister? I have a new-to-me '06 XC90 that has been meticulously maintained and yet it 'acts' like a restricted heater core, barely warm at max.
You could, you would need a multimeter to measure the resistance at room temperature, then gradually warm the thermistor with a hair dryer or heat gun and see if the resistance (ohms) changes. If you are going all the way in there though, might be best to replace it. Also, it’s possibly your blend door actuator isn’t working properly.
Definitely like the video it helped me out a lot, I need to know where you got those wires from so I can go ahead and put them in mind myself. I got my tore open so I know they had broken half there on a power surge I had with trying to jump a dead battery. Mostly appreciated if you could and let me know thanks
ViDA advised the cabin temp sensor signal too high / signal missing. The blower motor isnt working, is this a symptom on your car?? I've not got any other codes on the ccm
No, my blower motor was working fine but I believe I did have the temp sensor signal missing. Sounds like you may have a blown fuse or bad blower motor resistor.
@@matt-diy in the end, I found it was a dodgy multiplug going into blower motor. I saw there was a black residue around the earth terminal. I'd changed resistor anyway, and changed the plug and all is well. The cabin temp sensor was also broken. Bought a second hand ccm from a S80, and took the sensor from that
My heater on 08 xc90 blows warm then cold for like 2 seconds then warm. It goes back and forth in same intervals or pattern. Wondering if this could fix it
Would this impact the AC not running super cold ? I recently acquired the car and weather getting warmer . The AC is cold but not sure if it needs a charge or if this thermistor fix would impact it ?

That is probably a bad blower motor resistor! Fairly easy replacement.

Honestly I am not sure, I believe they must be the same.
