    We'e taken a couple of ranger walks with you, Shelton and enjoyed them very much. We loved your book. We hoped it would get made into a movie, but that didn't happen. Maybe someday.

    Very well done. May in Yosemite is a family favorite, as are Tuolomne and Hetch Hetchy in the summer.

    Just finished a trip to Yosemite in May, 2019. The visits to these 3 trails prove to be so rewarding. Every one should experience the raging water rivers and roaring water falls at least once in your life time.

    There is a trail that takes you to the very top of Upper Yosemite Falls, however it is a rather rigorous trail that takes virtually all day to hike. I've walked it from a walk in camp site (Camp 4) the trail starts in that area.

    At one time? The shuttle buses at Yosemite took you right to the water's edge of Mirror Lake. And? Before that? The NPS regularly dredged the lake to prevent it from filling in with sand as it was a popular swimming hole. But, that was man acting against nature, so the dredging was discontinued at some point in the late sixties, early seventies. Unfortunately, I also missed firefall by just a few years. Would have liked to seen it at least once...

    I was just there last week and the waterfalls were peaking. Mirror Lake was definitely a lake, but I'm completely confused about what happened at where we were dropped off by the shuttle. The driver specifically announced the trailhead to mirror lake at the stop, but there was no paved trail, only a paved road for cars and a dirt trail that went along the eastern side of Tenaya Creek that led to a swimming hole, but we ended up on the wrong side of the lake, so there was no reflection or view of the granite domes. The trail went on past that but was under water farther up. I was confused the entire time because it wasn't how I had come to understand the trail and not what I had read. I wanted to be on the opposite side of the lake but there didn't appear to be a way to get there without swimming across. I've even looked at the map and Google maps and still can't figure out exactly where (or why) the shuttle dropped us off and told us it was the trail to Mirror Lake. ?????

      the paved road IS the trail... walk on the paved road... there really isn't supposed to be another trail...

    • @dgemini2
      @dgemini2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Taranau Yeah, I realized that after the fact. Long after I was back home in AZ, of course. 🙄 It wasn't just me though. Most of the people on the shuttle went down the dirt path. The driver of the shuttle should've clarified because even the signage was confusing, making it seem like the dirt path was the legit trail, so almost everyone went that way. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to go back and do it again.

    Fell in love with Yosemite this year, how do we get a ranger walk with Ranger Johnson?

    Can anyone tell me if there is a trail leading to the ridge in the foreground at 2:53?
    I'm going to yosemite next month, and would love to film Yosemite Falls from that vantage point.
    Thanks.

      I don't know what you mean by "ridge in the foreground" at 2:53. You can get to the skyline to the left of the top of the Upper Falls via the Yosemite Falls Trail mentioned by the ranger. That is a long up hill hike. It starts well to the left of the falls, climbs up to a bench to the left of the falls and then up into the notch that appears to be the low point on the skyline.
      There is no other ridge between the camera and the skyline.
      There is Sunnyside Bench that comes up to the top of the Lower Falls from the right. For a description, see John Muir's book, The Yosemite.
