      @@akivaweil5066 I'm sorry how am I incentivized? I paid for it with my own money and I've never been in any communication with the company. The link that I posted is just my personal referral link that everyone has when they sign up for the service. @@avooneverything Sure, the problem I had was you potentially giving the food a better review than it actually is. The incentive is there, because if you said, in theory, that the food was disgusting (which it probably wasn't, but definitely could be) nobody would sign up. You saying it is great and people should try it, absolutely helps you.
      A lottt of TH-camrs use the strategy, but the difference is that they don't claim to not be sponsored or affiliated. They always have a note near affiliate links to the tune of “I may receive a small portion of your purchase.”

    I think these are priced out of most people's range of sanity, unless they are rolling in dough. At the discount prices it's doable but not at the higher range, especially with the food portions being so small. I decided to do bulk shopping for marinated meats, seasoned frozen veggies, etc and I did some bulk cooking and divided it all up into portion containers to put in the freezer. They are all low carb and I made 22 meals for $110. That also included money I spent on a few other things for my pantry besides just what I needed for the meals. My portion sizes are more generous as well. People are paying all that extra for the convenience of not having to food shop or prep any ingredients. My budget doesn't offer me that much convenience.

    • @cake5058
      @cake5058 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I would have to agree. I bought on the first timer discount and promptly cancelled. And great idea on the bulk meals.

    • @davidfence6939
      @davidfence6939 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      You made the meals. In meal prep service they are doing the work for you. You're not simply paying for ingredients. You're paying for someone to prepare it for you and ensure it tastes good from frozen. So you're going to pay more. It's a convenience product. You don't have to be rolling in the dough. You have to actually budget, know where your money is going, and be committed. That's something most Americans struggle with and are left in debt because it's easier for them to get a credit card. Also take some time to see how much you spend on food, snacks, and eating out. I'd also most aren't going to buy this as a full meal replacement. I'd buy it for lunch at work. So that's 4-5 meals a week.

    • @fuzzydogpa7348
      @fuzzydogpa7348 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@davidfence6939 You actually pay more per meal if you do less meals a week. And I did say in my comment that people are paying for the convenience, something not everyone can afford to do. Sometimes a budget doesn't have the room for that when there are more important things to budget for, especially if you have kids and other things that are higher priority. I was able to shop and cook up 22 meals with extra bags of veggies to freeze to pair with other foods all for $110 which also included other household items that were not part of the meals. I still have some of the meals left. At this point in my life, I would rather spend the extra time cooking and shopping then to spend the money for a meal half the size as the ones I prepared. Mine are also low carb and tasty. But to each their own. The key to low carb is advance meal prep. It doesn't have to be for every meal but having something easy on hand when one is in a hurry can prevent making bad food choices. It's helpful to have frozen meals ready to go weather we prep them ourselves or not. And most Americans are in debt because the wages are quite low vs. the cost of housing, food, etc. It's really hard for a single person, living alone to survive. When you have jobs wanting a college degree that still only want to pay $15/ and hour and rents that require 3x rental income and many that are almost 2K per month... try budgeting a budget that isn't large enough to cover even basic necessities. Not everyone is in the same financial boat and it's not always because they are not budgeting. I guarantee, if you ever face a debilitating health crisis or injury, and I hope you don't, it can change everything overnight.

      You gotta factor in the labor cost. Everyone knows it’s cheaper to buy groceries and cook yourself but that takes hours of effort that many people would rather just pay for the shortcut option. Factor meals are pretty reasonable prices for people who tend to buy lunch / dinner a lot and don’t cook much

    I really liked how many of the meals looked presentable even though they were microwave meals, except for that last one. I think that one looked better when you added in your own ingredients to spice it up! Also really good to know that you didn’t experience a change when you made it in the oven vs microwave. I had hellofresh for a little over 2 years. I made sure to try lots of different things and I saved every recipe I liked and put it in a folder...then I cancelled it. I now make them by grocery shopping and save a TON of money doing it. Since I live alone, I buy in bulk. cook 2 days in a row, put the leftovers in the fridge and alternate between days. then after a couple days I do another meal. 4 portions each time I cook. I eat for a week and only cook 3 times a week. Sure I have repeats but if you switch it up each time and you end up going out once or twice a week (i tend to do this before i go shopping for instance) it splits it up enough.
    my ex basically said these factor meals tasted similar to reheated hellofresh meals we were making but with smaller portions.

    Nice review! I’m still on the fence about food quality and nutritional value, but I may give them a shot. Also, lol @ the people saying what they can cook for the price. These meals are for convenience, not cost savings. I don’t have time or desire to cook every meal, and I don’t enjoy meal prepping. I’m willing to pay a premium to not have to do either. Sometimes I’ll go entire days without eating a meal, mostly drinks and protein bars. With their protein+ option I am able to ensure I am getting enough protein.
      And if you think about it, it’s about the same price as if you were going to eat out every day.

      I get this. That’s why I tried honestly as I have been under restrictions and it has been hard to eat my usual way. I signed up as that is required in order to see the menu and nutrition. I referenced the cancellation terms prior to signing up, and followed them. Got a shipment in today and I’m pretty mad as I cancelled and now have no room in my fridge and wasn’t even home when it delivered as I had CANCELLED. I realize that this is a convenience service vs frugal, and that being said I was still very disappointed with the deceit. I am a sucker I guess, as I was skeptical before putting in my credit card information yet i still did it.

    I have been enjoying factor a lot. Going into my senior year and currently having summer holidays with an internship and working on campus and making anywhere between 1000- 1100 per week so i would say that 200 something for 14 meals is good for me especially when i am a bit lazy and a bit busy as well sometimes. So i have a lot of support from my parents as well so i am fortunate enough. I would say the portion size is good for me. My goal is 2000 calories a day and using this with my goal it knocks out about half of my diary a day which is great! I fill in my gaps with snacks/protein shakes. I do keto, and the price is much higher than the average carb heavy diet. The frozen already made meals are about twice the price as average frozen meals and contain only about half of the food, so when comparing options with factor, the prices aren't that much higher, and the variety is a game changer.
    I just finished my first week, and all the meals were fantastic, couldn't finish most of them, that much food. The keto desserts were not so hot, I make a bettet cheesecake and chocolate chip cookie. Like the option to add side items (at an extra cost) when you have your own protein item. The add on protein items are definitely over priced, and really the vegetable side items are too. Like the keto picnic pack options, but could do better on the price. If I wasn't keto (these meals are a bit high for strict keto) I wouldn't do factor cause like someone else said, frozen dinners from the local grocery store are much more cost-effective.

      They would cost 30-50% more and no one would buy them. Imagine going to a grocery store to buy one of these for 15$. The whole advantage of something like this over a frozen dinner is that it is preservative free, better tasting, healthier, microwaves quicker, and arrives at your door. The disadvantage is that you have to throw them in the trash after 7 days. Which means the grocery store needs daily deliveries, someone to stock them, someone to rotate them and check for expired dates, etc. On top of their profit cut.

The supermarket sells plenty of fresh food you know, just because you bought something at the supermarket of off a shelf it doesn’t mean it’s not good for you. The only thing that matters is the ingredients that go into it regardless of whether you buy it online or in store. I can’t stop laughing at your weird supermarket logic.

    I actually gained a little weight and am now back where I started. The service is frustrating as the meals will show up days early with no notification. And there is no way to cancel through the app. The meals do taste pretty good and are convenient. If you have time to meal prep though you can save a lot and eat healthier. I would recommend these if you don't have time or are just lazy.

      If by “customize” you mean add restrictions (like with Hello Fresh, you can request no pork and their system automatically leaves off pork meals): you can’t. Even though Factor and HF are the same company, the Factor system doesn’t allow restrictions. You have to go in each week to manually remove any options you don’t want or add the ones you do (like gluten free, pescatarian stuff, etc). Kinda sucks, especially considering Factor is more expensive than Hello Fresh, but whatever

    I tried it. Bought 18 meals. Yes, I did lose weight. Yes, the food is delicious. It seems like every meal comes with broccoli. I don't mind it, but every day got to be too much. I started to miss carbs after the 1st week. I became more obsessed with what I couldn't eat. I love Italian food. I broke down and made spaghetti and meatballs. I put a lot of the remaining meals in the freezer and will eat them from time to time. The food is tasty. It is overpriced and the recipes can be made for a lot less. It does need to expand the meal selections to include pastas and make the options easier to stay on.

And breakfast I skip for meal plans just make eggs bacon sausage and that will be your daily cholesterol intake if you want to go simple just get premade breakfast items like jimmy deans breakfast definitely the easiest to supplement with frozen food

    Many people spend more than $20 per day on lunch, breakfast, coffee, Starbucks, chips etc. so if it tastes good, it’s worth the price. Before I lost 90 pounds, I was spending about $100 per day on bs which included cigars, Lipton iced, tea, chips, take out etc. I’d smoke two cigars daily which would be about 36 bucks. Now after losing 90 pounds, I spend about $30-40 bucks daily.

    You can find plenty of prepared foods in the grocery store including many that aren't frozen.
    You can buy bagged salads, rotisserie chicken, bbq chicken or pork, sushi, cook at home pizzas. They may not be instantaneous meals, but most people can put 20 minutes or so into cooking a vegetable side dish (try sauteing your vegetables with a little olive oil and some seasonings. You'll be surprised at how good they are). Also, when you do prepare a meal make enough for a few days and freeze the leftovers.

However, no way am I re-heating the food in that plastic, and I'm not comfortable with it being transported in plastic. I see it is "BPA free". The problem with plastics is there are dozens of other leach chemicals in them other than BPAs that impact the endocrine system of mammals. There literally is no food-safe plastic.
