I’ve come to realize on my PTX journey (started a little over a year ago) you do not have to “like” the original song……the PTX upgrades ALWAYS blow my mind! No instruments! 🤯
PTX is usually so PG, but this one is all about hot Cuban nights! This song just drips sexy for me. Kevin is awesome throughout, including that jazzy trumpet, but from Kirstie's little Latina dress to Mitch's smirk when he sings, "I loved him when I left him," Scott in his R & B groove and Matt holding down those seductive low tones, I can't stop smiling at my 'family' group getting all hot and suggestive. And I'm with you D, on their ability to take any ho-hum song and make it a favourite. This one puts me "in the mood" after Scott's first phrase! So glad you got to hear this one and share it with us. Another great reaction!
I love the realization that the trumpet is a human voice! They way you turn your head right into the camera with shock, and almost resignation that shock is not necessary. It’s to be expected!
Everything about this video is impressive. The performances of each member are outstanding and even their outfits and surroundings are perfect. Yep this version is once again better than the original!
You do realize that when Kevin took over the "muted horn" playing, Matt took over the percussion?!!!! Those tight harmonies are not easy. I have sung harmonies all my life and have a very good ear love these I could always hear a trio in a duet and a quartet in a trio. But I did not have a solo voice I was tucked away where my voice could fill in the gaps with harmony. These guys are amazing.
In my estimation, there is no collection of musical talent in all the world greater than these 5 unbelievably talented individuals, Their musical creations are untouchable!!
Agree. They made it ALL Their Own. Next level. Of course... if you think about it... with each singer having 10+ years of vocal training & harmonising experience { most far more than that } then the combo is a MINIMUM OF 50 YEARS EXPERTISE! So then... guess we shouldn't be surprised! But still are - every time. 😆👍👋👋👋
Hello D. At last!! Havana!! Isn't this just great. Loved your reaction as always. Your facial expressions are priceless. I was laughing as I knew what was coming at each point. You were spot on noticing that clever arrangement at "bumper to bumper". You were so in the zone, with your eyes closed, shaking your head and chair dancing,, then you just popped when Kevin started palying his flugelhorn. LOLOLOL. They are all on point - Mitch starting with those ethereal ear candy sounds and then singing so sweetly, hitting every note and transition. Scott so raspy and riffing. Kirstie so clear and sharp. Matt on that bass. Kevin with all the percussion and now a fluglehorn. PTX must be the best invention since sliced bread. More PTX please.

The vocal percussion from Kevin is just amazing in this one! If I didn't know better, I's SWEAR that there were bongos and castanets playing in the percussion. And then that ending! I've heard it called a flugelhorn, my first impression was always a muted trumpet - but regardless, is there anything Kevin can't do?

Roflmfao. Um, hello. PTX upgrade. Seriously, any song that PTX does,,if you don't like the original, you will love the PTX version. I highly recommend you go back to the very beginning of the PTX journey on the sing off season 3. Include the judges comments and all of the return visits. I love it when they go back to the finale of season 4 and you can see how the original pentaholic reacts to them being on stage in front of him again. Plus the sing off journey includes the original Mitch slap, which is epic. I go back and watch the entire season, all of the groups, including the opening songs, which pretty much tells you who is in the final. Enjoy

What’s not to like about this song. There’s the atmosphere and the costuming. Kirstin has the Latina thing going on. Matt laying foundation, Mitch’s high notes, The Trio bridge, Scott rifting, and Kevin’s horn. It’s all good.

I loved this reaction. You are just so exasperated with their ridiculousness. As for Mitch, I am personally opposed to face-blocking facial hair on almost everyone. That face, out of which pours that voice, I am particularly saddened to see blocked. I just keep saying to myself, it's his face, you don't get to have an opinion, Gina, and yet it appears I do indeed have one. It does make him look more like his Dad, though, which is sweet.
