Hi Wayne it’s good to see or the electrical work build kitt all of my electrical work to
Loving the build as all ways.
Stay safe all.
Wicked, I can’t wait to get to this stage! It would be great if they bought an app our for the watch as well !!
As addendum to my reaction 3 days ago: I forgot to change the access rights to the file on how to remove the capacitor (C3) on the scanner, I just changed it so now it should be accessible to everyone. My apologies.
Haha, the comlink radio is like your typical 80's radio watch. I had one. Ah, the memories!
That’s amazing! I have stage 11-14 on the way this week!
Very cool! Thank you.
Great video commentary as always Wayne I'll soon be getting my issues, (in the post) hopefully all my electric s will work, fingers crossed, as I've seen other ppl having problems with their electrics, 👍👍
Followed your instructions (although my leads were correctly lettered).. All works... Phew... Onwards and upwards
Good Job Sir
Hi wanye it's simon Walpole I have liked watching the making of the knight rider car what you are making 😀 from simon.
And you were going so well. The watch is a nifty idea the kids (all ages) will enjoy that. especially when aunty come, and you switch it remotely 🤣. I can see some upgrades coming for this car
Great video Wayne, I didn't have a battery for the watch so I may have suggested on my channel to nick the battery from the wife's car key, although it was returned fairly swiftly 🤣
Apart from breaking the watch good work sir, .
Glad you got everything working - apart form one little mishap. My scanner doesn't work when plugged in (although direct test to batteries is fine) - when I unplug it the scanner noise then works. Got a replacement circuit board in the post - hope no one else has a similar problem :(
mine is the same, I'll have to order a new circuit board
@@Duane.McFarlane Their customer service was helpful and quickest via online chat. Hope we both get sorted!
@@robt8593 I normally call them but ill give online a go, thank you.
Hi Rob, I have the exact same problem, scanner not working when connected to the circuit board but does work when connected to the tester board. Did a replacement circuit board fix the issue for you?
Thanks.
@@slomofs only just seen your reply. Amazingly no. However I found scanner worked when other sound and light functions were active. Front button pressed too! This is still not right I’ve requested an issue 5 (scanner issue) and issue 45 (watch issue) as I can’t see what else. It could be. Changed the leads too. Crazy hard to sort
Knight Riduh!
Just finished putting together 35-42 before I thought to look for help videos.
Watched your 39-42 and 43-46 which I'm looking forward to receiving next. Hopefully you're videos have given me early insight before I tackle each build - and hoping the electrics work - at least on this none they can be tested early (both the db5 and ecto 1 I practically had to finish before I tried them out - and both had issues.
Love your videos... So I'll be following as I build...
I'm on stage 70, when I tested the electronics I was surprised to find that that the car speaks Japanese. I mean, I have been importing this from Japan, but I just assumed it would use sound clips from the US show.
It's likely they dubbed the show for the japanese audience
For the not imported model, you can setup the speech through the watch in 5 languages: CH01=French, CH02=English, CH03=Spanish, CH04=Italian and CH05=German. I don't know if it possible in your version to setup a different language, but in the Western version you need to hold the big round right bottom button for 3 seconds (music speaker) and switch with the 2 small buttons on the side.
Thanks Wayne for showing how to change from French to English lol
you forgot to screw the circuit board in the watch down.
Yep I will do that when the replacement comes
OMG...I didn't know about the comlink wristwatch 😳😳😳 TAKE MY MONEY
Like video
Unfortunately the scanner doesn't work over here. If someone has the same issue, you should try my check first. I first thought that there was a problem with the control board, however I just installed the newly send control board and I have still the same problem. When pressing the scanner button on the watch, it just turns everything off. Also when connecting the scanner directly to the battery compartment, it works fine. I thought to have 2 options left: the extension cable or the watch. After forgetting to put the original cable A back in and trying the scanner anyhow, I discovered that in that case you do hear the sound of the scanner. When plugging cable A back in, everything just stops. No sound and no lights from the scanner. To be sure, I repeated it several times and the outcome is every time the same. For now the conclusion is: the scanner does seem to interfere in one way or another. So, back to the helpdesk.
Same problem
I can hear the scanner but no red lights
@@raymondstone9990 I got a replacement of the scanner last week, it lasted for about 10 seconds and it was over again. They send a new replacement again, but this is quite a problem. There quite some people who have this issue.
I guess I have come late to the game on this one. However, when I opened the pack nothing matched up with inventory, that is when I knew I needed you and not an aspirin trying to figure this out. When we put the two P cables together, we have a P-P cable.
Hi Wayne, Just thought I would send you a message about issue 66 of the Knight Rider build. I have been in touch with Mike Lane to see if he can source some extension cables. When the seating area is attached to the base some wires that should then reattach to the motherboard will not reach. I tried taking things apart again to stretch the wires more to no avail. Hopefully Mike will be able to source a work around. Not sure if others have had this issue but thought i would give you a heads up. Kind Regards Paul.
Ancient 80's !!!
I must be prehistoric!!
😂😂😂😂
:D
I have this I am on issue 2 but wating for 4 issues at the moment, you get 4 issues a month so about £33 the second month, in the UK they are £9.99 a issue but 2, 3 and 4 are £4.99 so cheaper if you subscribe for everything so the extra stuff you get with it too.
Wayne, don't know if you already noticed but the metal catch and pin on the wrist of the watch are mounted upside down.
I need to check that when the new one comes. I don’t plan on wearing it though lol
@@WorldofWayneUK Too bad, I would have liked to have seen you use it with a curly wig and a leather jacket on :-)
@@Thalon77 😂😂😂
Still wish it would come to Australia and still having trouble with F40.
Hello frim the U.S. I have done up to stage 8. Need to work on stages 9 and 10.
I ordered the parts upgrade from Mike Lane for the interior for the Knight Rider car. May take a mouth to get them. I order them before I get to those stages.
One little detail wayne the FP screws are for securing the board inside of the watch
Yer I will make sure I put them in when the new watch comes
No! Why did you have to put this video out? I only got Stages 35-38 yesterday and now I know I’m going to have to wait two months to get to all the cool lights and sounds!!
I know it's been a while. I've been saving my issues to build them a bunch at a time. I just got to the watch. Set the time and when I push a button after it resets the watch. Anyone else have that issue?
"Let's bring the cah back ovuh heeyuh...."
"That leads us to stage foety foe."
Don't foeget the bat trees! 🦇🌲
😂
😆😆😆
Im having an issue with my scanner .its marked as a so i plug into a on the board then use the watch it doesnt activate yet i plug it in socket between b and c then it works
Seems a number of people do have the same problem I had, but don't bother to check for the solution I gave in the comments.
I got my electrics to work first time too, I felt so relieved after screwing up the electrics on my Routemaster bus. Any idea on what the empty scoket is left for?
No idea
Blimey there's nearly as much spaghetti in this model as there is in a real car. I hope it all works as advertised.
The audio sounds more 'echoy' on the overhead camera than your normal face-on camera.
Hey wayne its mike again do you know what the empty slot 5VIN is for? or does it have any kind of purpose on the knight rider circuit board from issue#42?
That’s just a constant 5v source
What do you think of the overall sound quality? In the video it sounded... questionable. I've never done a partwork model before and am giving this one some serious thought.
Everything except the engine noise sounds good to me
I think the scanner sound is poor which is annoying as that’s the coolest bit apart from the theme tune
So just curious... at 8:18 you're detailing the location of wires and you note "A" between "M" and "F". However, there is another wire coming from the switch also labeled "A". Since both "A" cables appear to be two wire red/black, I was wondering if that could cause confusion for anyone?
It may do yes
I'm have just completed this stage myself but the front scanner light doesn't work with the watch
Same with mine. Afew people have the same problem.
Yes sadly1or2French builders hav had afew problems with their KITT2000 circuitboard as well. It's the model manufacturers fault when they made the circuitboard for this build
@@bedfordshiremodeller4491 from what I can socket A where the scanner connects on the board is not getting enough power as the scanner works if I plug into another light socket
Here is an update. I have found a very simple solution and the scanner now works. I have found the pcb does not work correctly when the voltage is over 5volts by using rechargeable batteries actually works as they are rated at 1.2volts instead of 1.5volts of a non rechargeable battery.
@@kingchewy7991 But this uses a7volt power output
Do u know maybe why my scanner dosent work ? I Press button on the watch and show only 1 dot light on scanner. I cant continued until not fix. Maybe cable ?
That's sounds like a power issue. If turning it off and on doesn't work.check the voltage coming from battery box
@WorldofWayneUK i change already battery and everything. All.lights working fine. Only scanner dosent work ...
Hello Sir
I just completed the stage 46 wristwatch and made sure everything was connected correctly. Everything works lights and sound except the front scanner
The sounds of the scanner comes on but no red lights scanning
This has been a common problem for some people. Check out the Facebook groups for solutions . I think it can be caused by low power and board problems
Just curious, but can the watch also be used as an actual watch that tells time? Or is it only intended to be used as a remote?
Yep
Hi Wayne...any idea if KITT car come with carpets?
It doesn't but you can get them from www.mikelanemods.com
Has anyone had any trouble in issue #45 when you put the cable marked A into the circuit board while the batteries were installed correctly?
Check the cable is not
Mislabelled my cable A should have said C
Its not mislabled when i put cable A in slot A on the circuit board and the hit the lower right button on the watch to activate the front scanner it wont turn on
Do you know if any other companies are doing the Delorean Time Machine or maybe just the Delorean car 1/8 scale just like that of used to be Eaglemoss
Nope. Although Deagostini were doing it in Japan
Sorry to be a pain Wayne but have you heard anything about eaglemoss and what's happening with them I'm still debating whether to do this build or find out where I can get the starsky and hutch car from and do that instead 👍👍👍👍👍
Nope nothing yet. I would be really surprised if we hear anything before Christmas
Hi wayne is there a power mod for this
I think Chloe at ModelModz is working on one
Had any problems with the scanner, had it replaced and got it working after that? Because after 2 control boards and 3 scanners, it still doesn't work when connected to the control board. It's becoming annoying now.
I haven’t had an issue with mine
How do you hang the license plates
Blu tak
SO I have a Technical question If anyone can help on this issue. So When pressing the Button to activate the Scanner. The scanner does not work I checked the Connectors. I switched the connectors the other way around, and only the Scanner noise works. Any idea what can be the issue?
Go over to the Facebook group. Quite a lot of peeps have had this issue
@@WorldofWayneUK do you have the link?
facebook.com/groups/628879174742153@@fgulla007
@@WorldofWayneUK can you direct me where. I haven’t seen anything on that group.
When are you going to finish the London but
Next video next week
I'm curious about what the small electric motor will be used for.
There are some mods from the Delorean partwork that beefs up the speaker to make the sounds less like a gift card. I'm hoping that can be used here. I find in all the partworks the engine sounds are the most underwhelming sound effects because of the tiny speaker :(
I think it’s for pop up headlights
@@WorldofWayneUK ahhh. Thanks, Wayne!
do you have a contacted number for fanhome
No but they have online chat
Hello guys,
Step 45,the last page in manual, test of front scanner with watch - doesn't work by me. I checked all connections, everything is OK. Have someone the same problem as me? Someone have a solution? Thank you in advance!
P. S. I connect the A cable to the noname input second from top right and now the sound is working with the clock but the front scanner working constantly, as long as power is on. Not how it hat to be.
Check out the Facebook group for this build. Some peeps have had this problem. Some fixed it by changing out batteries or using a power mod. Some swapped out the motherboard
How much in total, for the U.S.?
At the current exchange rates all these models are about 1250-1500
@@WorldofWayneUK thanks, I'll just have to not get one. Truly a pity. Not for the working class.
im really gutted, my initial circuit board the sound sounded like it was under water, and the scanner only blinked one light no scanner noise (works as it should plugged directly in like issue 5) no bigs fanhome sent me another issue 42 with new board/speaker and a cable - just did a test, exactly the same error...gutted it took 3 weeks for the replacement.....luckily i didnt put all the cables back in..
Lol I remember these magazine things growing up in the 80's they were always advertised on tv. I bet it's not worth any where near what you ended paying for it.
Hi all. I’m sure I’ve asked somebody this but I haven’t touched my build since December and I can’t find any responses.
All of my electronics worked perfectly first time but one. My scanner goes on and off if I use the switch on the battery compartment, but the watch controls don’t work with it. Everything else works on the watch including the scanner effect, it just doesn’t switch my scanner on and off. Anybody else had this? Any ideas?
Have you asked in the Facebook group. Someone may have an idea there
@WorldofWayneUK a couple of places, but I'll try them next. Thanks mate.
I can’t get it working, I’ve plugged everything in correctly, nothing is connected the wrong way around, everything looks fine, but, after switching the power switch, scanner blinks once, nothing else happens, it’s dead, I’m totally stumped. HELLLLLLPPPPPPP !!!
Did you use brand new batteries?
@@WorldofWayneUK yes, brand new, I’ll try swapping them for a different set, but, not sure what the problem is.
@@kry102001 it sounds like a faulty board
@@WorldofWayneUK I have got everything working now except the scanner, it blinks but doesn't light up, if I remove the scanner light, cable A, the scanner noise plays, but, as soon as I re attach the scanner light, it blinks when I press the scanner button on the watch, so, something is definitely wrong there.
@@kry102001 some others in the Facebook group have had that issue. Check out the Partwork central group
My watch functions isn’t controlling anything, seems like a dud
How in the heck did you break the watch? Is it that delicate during assembly or when the language was changed? What a bummer! It's like a kid breaking his toy unwrapping it on Christmas morning before he had time to play with it! uhg!
You make mistakes, so we don’t have to!
I tend to make them a lot more lol
French voice is better lol !
i have now with part 39 problems on bookstore where i buyy it i wait 3 weeks allready for this part on fanhome i can not go in abonnement at part where iam they say i must begin abo from beginning ?!?! so i pay 40 parts allready again that i have allready double and spend over 400 euros for nothing ?? what a service from fanhome for people they pay direkt in a shop there modells and have than problems and trouble. shame on you fanhome !
I just got a reply again and instructions. The problem lies within the capacitor (C3) on the scanner. I tried to remove the capacitor (not quite successfully it seems) and now I do have sound, but still no lights. These are the instructions, but only when the replacement scanners don't work either and therefor only as a last resort as you might damage the scanner if not being careful. drive.google.com/file/d/1sL9gf3miwji2y-SaKdVQN6eC2SLF_VdQ/view?usp=drive_link
Addendum: After successfully removing the last remnants of the capacitor, it works. Sound and light. So, here's your solution. That being said, be careful not to damage the scanner when removing the capacitor.
This should be the top comment that help me too thank u so much!!!
