Thank you so much for the trigger warning for DV, I appreciate you clarifying and giving a heads up on that. I watched a reading one time that discussed non-consensual themes and the reader hadn’t clarified that it was 18+ and didn’t give any trigger warnings. They proceeded to talk about an event that I’m not going to go into and recalled the incident in great detail that happened to me. It sent me reeling for a long time and when I talked about how painful that was and asked the reader to be more sensitive (she was giggling through talking about it) and left a trigger warning for others a commenter replied with “then just don’t watch readings” which was so invalidating after everything that put me through. To me that just says because someone harmed you outside of your control, you shouldn’t be able to enjoy readings if you’re going to be sensitive to the content which is so unfair and insensitive, a good or considerate reader (and person for that matter) would let you know beforehand. I never ever watched that channel again
I’m so sorry that that happened to you: both the initial experience and the one you relived via a reading. I try to always be mindful of what may cause any upset and err on the side of caution because being a trauma survivor I would want that same consideration. Regardless of all the fucked up shit I've been put through I've never wanted to victimize myself, this reading resonated sm. I grew up in a narcissistic household and I have always been the blacksheep. My dark feminine is most definitely a rebel and I was raised in a home where I was "too sensitive, too emotional" and "too out of the box, too weird".
