It amazes me, how numerous musicians trash a new Synth! You really cant/shouldn't compare a $4,000 Stage 2 Nord (for example) to a MZ-X500 Casio, in settings/parameters you can tweak and I can download directly any sound From a Nord directly into my MZ-X500 and it sounds awesome!
Is it built like a Nord, or a pro Yamaha Motif Workstation? Not at all, that's how they kept the price way down, But this Synthesizer is becoming a Top performer!
It's Hex Layer capabilities are amazing to say the least, you adapt really quick when you play this Synth!

I'm surprised to see Formidoni at Casio instead of Korg, but I'm happy to see him again. He's a very good demonstrator.

MZ-X300, probably the most affordable pro-arranger keyboard to date. In Indonesia it costs around 6 millions IDR ($439)

Rich is arguably the best keyboard demonstrator on TH-cam. Korg's loss is Casio's gain. He should be able to propel Casio to some sales gains if he stays there a while.

Listening to Casio on cell phone shouldn't justify how Casio sounds. Instead its how the microphone picks the sound, what setting the eq was set to in regards of sound processing, then the frequency your speaker is able to produce the sound.

It's a triumph for the preset generation that Casio is no longer the purveyor of crappy sounds. I can't believe it's not false. At least for basic presets, it now is the onus of keyboard players to sound good, not blame the fact the keyboard is branded Casio.

They're rugged though. Casio isn't the best line, but they can make some tough keyboards. One of mine lasted over 3 years with continuous play. I mean, long hour days almost every day. The buttons wore out before the keys did. Very tough, very resilient.

At 16:27 you say, "...these two full-range speakers are aimed towards the audience, and there are four OTHER speakers aimed towards the player." I don't believe this is true. There are two speakers (high and midrange) on each side aimed towards the player. The underside of those speakers are "ported" and "DIRECT" sound towards the audience; but there are NOT any actual speakers facing the audience. The audience-facing "ported sound," although clever, is not as loud or as dynamic as the sound coming directly from the speakers. Please correct me if I am wrong...

Hmm ... all nice and shiny but it still sounds like a toy! Why casio do not focus on the actual sound engine at the first place? Do not get me wrong, i tried casio, korg, roland, yamaha and couple serious synths and never was against casio. Ages ago i had and used CTK 811ex and never had a glitch, and always was happy with that but to me casio of all pricetags always sounded cheap ...

  • @BlueAngelo
    @BlueAngelo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Casio should update for a new generation of wave ROMS; its sounds are reedited waveforms from 90´s CTK . I had a CTK650 and the cymbal and a lot of sounds are exactly the same-...... I bought a Yamaha MO6 for 400€ and happy now XD

just i note to the people who is watching this review . these pages that you saw him scrolling through . not all of them full of sounds or preset styles. the fact is it's kind of limited sounds and preset styles. the rest is always left to the user to customize it . so for example the page he's viewing on screen. it shows grand Piano .. 7 pages . but the fact they are only 5 pages each has 4 sounds so that is only 20 different sounds of Piano's .. the same goes for the other sounds and preset styles ..
my personal opinion i think Casio either stingy or they just got lazy. to provide the users with more real to hear preset styles .. when i do play the Accom / combined preset style the sounds that already done. sounded more and a lot electronic a lot of listeners complain that the combined sounds had that electronic feels to it like guitar or other instrument sound effects. i have to go to the editing section take a lot of sounds off . before i began to record OR play .
also i like using the reverb effects and echo a lot i noticed with some of the preset styles there is some kind of lagging OR cutoffs to the sound while i'm playing .. anyway is about $1200 or a bit more i would go for $1700 or $1800 keyboard from Yamaha Model PSR 70 i believe the presets Styles and the sound quality are way better. plus Yamaha provide you with more preset styles online that you can download. and Songs as well. i can't believe Casio setting back giving no service what so ever to the users after buying . unless i'm missing out on something here .. but i own the MZ-X500 for almost a year now . so take a personal look at store first see it test it for your self in person before buying .. it looks good in the reviewer show on the screen here. but you may change your mind once you experience what they are offering in person . i owned my first Casio in 1994 i was 13 years old .. the model was Casio HT-700 - check out my channel on sound Cloud soundcloud.com/walidsoltan/sets/walid-soltan-tracks these are what i have done so far using this keyboard no much but just to give you an idea i hope that is more helpful .. ( Note ) ... I'm not as professional as the gentleman reviewing the keyboard

Phew! You sentence construction is what shall I say?.... You don’t start a sentence with “but”, and even if you do, have you ever heard about “capital letters? There is such a thing called, “effective communication”, if you care to know and rambling on and on without fullstops or comas isn’t one of them.

The MZ-X500 is pretty rich feature-wise but the MZ-X300 is a big snooze without having the hex layers and no bass synth, there is really not much else to offer for the serious money you asking. (the accompaniment are not much better than half price PSR or your own Casio)
Some of the PCM sounds are indeed improved in this generation - about time ! (like the piano and strings) but vast of those 1000 sounds are still the old casio squeaky samples and gm quality tones. If the DSP is good it can be somehow masked in hex layers with it but if it is anywhere near the disaster you put in XW, then they will be utterly unusable.
Just watch how the keybed flexes down during playing in the video - low quality wk keyboard ?.
I like what you try to put in, but all casio have common the same thing, there is no bottom to the sound, it is all in mids and highs including bases and drums. The EQ only muddies things. I would rather buy your PX-5S or PX560 or rather anything that comes after that and has PX-5S features and 4 hex layers.

Re the accompaniments, there are many world-class accompaniment patterns on-board (e.g. Dance category). And for much wider genres, Casio recently made available another 60 patterns available as free downloads here:
      support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=1252
These are as good as, if not better, than most patterns available on comparable instruments from ANY brand.
I also disagree with your claim the majority of sounds aren't good. Check it out.

But they still keep making cheese romplers that do not sell.
Any Yamaha PSR kb sounds better than currently available Casio keyboards.

I feel so bad for people that don't know how to use a DAW and a midi controller

Amazingly I do know how to use a DAW and a MIDI controller, and yet I still have five actual keyboards. These never skip or lock up when my computer is having a bit of a hard time, and never stop working because I've had a Windows update. Whilst I agree that this is not the best of keyboards at least keep your comments relevant.

you can literally combine 5 of these synths into different waveform patterns in serum and have full control over how they integrate and stack together, you can add (essentially) unlimited effects and control them all individually or as groups. you can easily record loops and full scale songs in a matter of seconds with a really easy to understand GUI.

"synths that have already been full-scale modelled in free soft synths in computers" and yet still don't sound like they should. As for multi-track recording, yes I can do that (and frequently do) but I can also replicate live what I play in the studio, which is a little more difficult with a DAW and MIDI controller.By the way wasn't this originally about a Casio keyboard?

i do like this MZ-X and if I had the cash would buy a room full of synths. I just kind of think people get lost in the marketing of hardware synths and forget that there are other more affordable and flexible options. i totally get what you're saying. this might be difficult to understand unless you do some additional research.

Not supposed to be played like an 88 key piano, you do not need 88 keys for what a synthetic is used for

Uuuuhhhh... Nope. VZ1 was the most ambitious, if I recall... Even the CZ was ambitious in comparison.

Those were synthesizers, not arrangers. Totally different types of instruments.
