Gangi this one hits me to the core.
So as part of my job (Corrections Officer) and also because I work in the kitchen. I will go through the Daily Count Report, which is the report of who scans for mainline, which unit they reside, and the time that they scanned. I see a lot of incarcerated on this report leaving their unit either before their unit is called or after. Last week I seen on this report two incarcerated scanning mainline prior to their unit being called so I wrote the minor for out of bounds. The infraction was severed SHOULD OF been a solid report as I submitted as much supportive documentation needed to hold the incarcerated accountable, accept for one thing. The pod Officer in the unit vouched for the incarcerated leaving with the unit. The infraction got thrown out. COMPROMISED and COMPLACENCY.....I so much want to give up because I am fighting this with so many and don't know how or who I talk to for effective support. Any suggestions?

I would follow up with the hearing officer and document the results. Maybe it could have been a Due process error. I think we need to see if there are any concerns that caused the charge to not be supported. If not, you still continue to do your job and hold them accountable

I spoke to the unit Sgt who was the hearings officer. He stated that due to the unit officers email to myself and to the hearings Sgt. He had to dismiss the charge...
I will not stop holding incarcerated accountable. I just have to sharpen my strategies. Which might mean I need to have a meeting with the hearings Sgt and the CUS on their focus of accountability.

The "I don't care" attitude is usually perpetuated by the posture of the administration.
If the officers walking the tiers and working the floor have no support, the hearings office won't hold the inmates accountable via sanctions, and the inmates file frivolous grievances that the administration actually believes and takes action on, the staff adopt this "I don't care" position. And honestly, what else are they supposed to do?
In my state, the administration has become so openly hostile to the officers, and have taken a pro inmate stance to the point where they are literally advocates for the incarcerated.
When it gets to the point if you do your job, it is just going through the motions. File your paperwork, log your evidence, document document document, but nothing will come if it. It's a slow burn that turns into the "I don't care".
My facility used to be a very proactive facility. It took just 2 years of a hostile administration to turn it into a "I don't care" facility. It's sad.

Its sad. But i did a video on this in. The past. We must still remain the course. We still must provide the effort. Sadly we can’t control the outcome, but we can control our efforts to ensure we are holding them accountable when the tine comes. We also need to get an understanding of why the charges are being dropped. There’s a lot of concerns related to process, and I think when the charges are dropped, staff should follow up and ask why. And again the follow up is more to help them learn as opposed to them challenging the decision.

Complacency is the mother of all screw ups, by doing nothing and going with the flow, leads to major problems down the road. Anthony Gangi tackles another serious problem head on. Pay Attention and you will be influenced in the right way to handle things.
