- In this video I take a look at a Montblanc Meisterstruck (Classique?) Mechanical Pencil that I purchased at an antique store...it was a really good deal!

Well done! A fantastic bargain. The leather case alone is worth more than $12. It's a beautiful looking pencil. You were lucky the antique store didn't know the true value of the piece. Of course you will need to find the matching fountain pen next.
Thanks, David! You're right, I'm very fortunate that most people around here don't know the value of a Montblanc. The disadvantage of that is most of the people I've told this story, don't understand what a good deal I got. 😄

Thats a bargain of the decade , Cathy Ma'am. The burgundy ones usually go for higher prices.
BTW,my fav eraser is sakura foam. Very effective. 😊

You might try a touch of Elmer's or a similar glue with a toothpick on the cracks to "seal" them in place...I believe there is a "cap" that goes on the eraser as well...Perhaps you might take it to a MB dealer in your area to see if they can give you more info...Good video! That's a good idea. There's a MB retail store near where my daughter lives so I've considered taking it along on my next trip. However, I'm a little worried that the cost of repair would be significantly more than I paid for the pencil. I'm going to try a touch of glue. Thanks for the suggestion! 😀
@@gadgetstop321 you are most welcome! Gorilla glue(clear) might be another alternative as it dries clear & you need to use a very tiny bit...you can ask for an estimate without commitment...
Nice find. I got a $500 Montblanc document marker for $75 because the pen it came with was missing from tne set.

Very nice! Finds like that have to make your day. I believe that prior to 1991 Montblanc would have stamped W Germany on their products. Without the 'W' I would assume that it was made after1991.

I recently found an identical Montblanc Meisterstück mechanical pencil at the flea market in Bucharest, Romania. Also bought it for the equivalent of 12 euros/ dollars. Mine is black and has two initials engraved on the resin near the clipper from the previous owner. It has absolutely the same branding engravings as the ones that you detailed in the video (Montblanc Meisterstück on the center, Germany on top of the clip ring and Max. 5 Minen 0.7 on the lead barrel). What I didn’t know is that it had a secret eraser! Thank you for showing it to me, it was such a pleasant surprise!❤ I believe the previous owner didn’t know about its existence either, my eraser is also intact. I believe that they are genuine, judging that mine and yours have the exact same details and also the weight of the product and the quality of the materials are good indicators that they might be originals from before 1991.

this would be a perfect pencil if it had a cap.
I love you this mechanical pencil in special. Burgundy colour is more pretty that black resin.
I have almost all collection in Legrand size. I only need to collect Rollerball.

That's a wonderful find, Cathy - tho' I've never owned a Montblanc pencil - just fountain pens; greater still, you have it in Burgundy - I have a 146 in this colour, too. $12.00, well, you couldn't ask for a sweeter deal than that, & it is without doubt an authentic MB writing instrument, primarily because, to replicate that shade of burgundy is virtually impossible - that is why the psuedo MB's are usually the most common colour, ergo, black. I noticed that your writing sample was in cursive - I do wish you would stick with that format when using your fountain pens, too - it's a far more attractive look.

Hey, Cathy, not at all. In respect to 'awful' handwriting, remember, you're speaking to a Physician - illegible "scrawl" is a default with doctors ;D
Actually, it's not that bad - or so say my colleagues. Pleased that you're returning to cursive - it's what fountain pens were designed for; glad too, that family are all in good health - I've just finished for the day that's been.
As to the colour of your pencil, I knew a fella in Germany who worked on the production line for MB - that is one of the 'authenticating' trademarks - colouration of the less produced - the burgundy, the orange, & the yellow - the latter two will invariably be vintage models, & if you can obtain one of those, they're well worth holding onto. You too have a fine week !!

She talked about it, newer ones have a serial number, older ones say "Germany"
That's not a find, you stole it! Pathetic. You knew "she" didn't know what she had, but YOU did. Of course you "would take it (steal it) for $12" You need to go back to that store & tell them what you did. Pay them a fair price. Because you knew EXACTLY what you were doing, there was no need for eBay there. Hope you do the right thing instead of gloating about your "find" on TH-cam.
