We found your latest video, lemon cucumbers, who knew, my wife said you and Nancy, are always finding new things to try. We will be watching and praying for the little guys, thank you for sharing. Blessings!!!
+Fred Woods Thank you Fred!! Gardening should be fun. Always try to grow something new each year. We got some new stuff for next Spring we are looking forward to. Have a blessed day 😍
growing lemon cucumbers for the first time and quite fun challenge! They look way different than normal ones and never seen in stores. Mine are flowering so hopefully soon have some to eat and pickle.
We've been growing lemon cucumbers for a few years now. Love them. I peel and slice them up then put them in a quart jar with equal parts water, sugar & white vinegar to cover. Chill overnight and enjoy the next day. We have his and her jars because I like to add some sliced sweet onions and minced garlic to mine for some extra zing. Great with salads or eating straight out of the jar. Can also mix in slices of your other cucumbers. I am going to try your idea of using the bamboo stakes to help start them toward the trellis next year. Thanks!
+DaelithTN Thanks for watching😍😍. Nancy likes to pickle things too. We are going to grow a lot more of these next year. Going to build a new trellis for them. Cucumbers are getting too crowded creating the evil white powdery mildew. Have a blessed day😇
H&N, so informative, especially the leaf formation tips. And the best ending on youtube: "Have a blessed day". I know it's coming at the end of every video, but it still sneaks up on me. Boom! You reap what you sow.
We just recently bought some of these seeds and planted 3 of them, just to see how they would do. A couple of nights ago, they were transplanted into bigger containers and we are going to let them run along our front porch railing. If we like them, then we will add them to the stable of cucumbers that we grow each season.Needless to say, Hollis, I was excited this morning when my TH-cam notification came across and it said you all had a video on Lemon Cucumbers. :) I just finished watching it and I can't wait to share our growths with you and Nancy and vice-versa.
I tried the “Crystal Apple” round cukes last year, they need to be eaten small or they get bitter. I’m excited to try “Lemon” this year, especially since you think they’re so cool!🤣
I really loved your presentation and whole approach. I think this is a very informative video. I did not realize about the two coddling leaves and wondered why mine were changing shapes. Great. Mine are growing well.
My lemon cucmbers are BEAUTIFUL! I planted 3 seeds in a large pot. One did not survive so it got pulled up but the other two are taking off like gangbusters! Will post pics on your facebook page.
+Barbara Rickman Very awesome Barbara!!! Great job!! Looking forward to seeing pix of your Lemon Cukes. It is so exciting to harvest especially when grown from seeds. Two thumbs up👍👍
we love lemon cucumbers. i know you used rotational growing so what would you suggest growing in this bed next season since you already have your metal up for vining plants?
+Jennifer Perry I remove the soil under the trellis 18" deep and put it I'm my reclamation box to be amended for containers. I back fill under the trellis new compost and Black Kow allowing me to plant cucumbers again if I want to. I have multiple trellises so if I don't want to replace the soil I can rotate with something else. I currently have 3 trellises but when we relocate to our rural homestead we are planning for 10👍
+Jennifer Perry We are too!! We start looking at properties next July. We want to be moved in by the end of the year so we can start setting up the gardens, animal pens, etc. planning to do update videos on the set up process😇
Hello. Can you advise how to treat grub worms in raised beds? Also how to fertilize a keiffee pear and early elberta peach tree. My peach tree has yellow leaves now. Thanks.
Hi Hollis - it is not as cool as a cucumber here in the Texas Hill Country ;) I've been meaning to try this variety. It's on my list for next Spring's garden. Have a trellis set aside for them. Are those organic seeds too? Looks like most of our summer garden is spent even with me using shade cloth.
I was starting to think we were going to have to sign them up for daycare. In all seriousness, great video as always. Our plants and pets do become our babies, don't they? We put so much nurturing into our plants, seeds to harvest, they become a part of us. That is why we save the seeds and regrow them next year. God bless You, Ms. Nancy and little Bing Bing. Have a wonderful Independence Day. Why don't we call it that anymore?
Awesome! No problems with birds or rabbits there? I like to know bc I've seen you protect some of them with cages or noisy gadgets while others, like the cucumbers, do not seem to need protection. Thank u guys! 😇
+Alba Zamora Lots of rabbits, squirrels, birds, possums, raccoons and even deer. My deterrents keep them at bay. The things outside of the fence the rabbits don't seem to like. Thanks for watching👍
No it doesn't. I use what ever I can catch rather it be fresh water fish to salt water fish. Hope my answer helps you . Oh you can use canned fish as well as long as it's in water . Happy gardening
I have planted at least "5" Lemon Cucumber Plants, and all five have grown to where they began to start growing their "True Leaves" and then they Wilt and Die. Any suggestions on what to do? I plant from seed, using Peat, Compost and a little Miracle-Gro. Any suggestions? And I LOVE your videos too!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!! Thank you!
I'm having great success with my first try growing cucumbers but I am having a battle with cucumber beetles both striped and spotted. Soapy water scares them a way for an hour. Fertilome Neem Oil keeps them away not much more than 24 hours or so and their back. Any other suggestions besides 7? I have spiders and baby mantises that I was hoping not to kill??
+Debra Cole Thanks for watching and subscribing!! Welcome to the family ❤️❤️🐶. I had two or three seeds per cup just in case something didn't germinate. After I transplant the cluster I wait a couple of days and see how they are doing after the root shock of being transplanted. At that point I cut the weaker ones off at ground level with a pair is scissors leaving the strongest single plant.
As much as I gave my other cucumbers and they did fine. They were planted together in the same bed and the same conditions. We were up in the mountains then with a lot more wind, but a lot more rain, too.
We have grown corn many times just never made a video. We get a lot of requests for a video on corn so we will be doing a series on sweet corn (Silver Queen) as soon as we get the garden up and running at our new homestead. 👍
I can send you some seed for an APPLE cucumber from New Zealand which is even nicer than the lemon Wow you grow 4 together?. They also grow well in a hanging pot, but remember like Zuchinni (summer squash) they are suseptable to mildew.
Wait wait wait, hang on, is that like four plants in each of those pots and the cucumbers will do OK with this? I have the hardest time thinning out plants but I thought that these always need their room for root development?
I live in Alabama and planted July 1st. The heat is killing these poor little plants. I'm not sure how much to water them or how much sun these guys can take. I probably started too late in th e year and should have them in the shade. This is my first attempt to grow them. I had to wait until July 1st as I just moved here in late june.
What you might wanna try is planting them a bit earlier and in partial sun .You really wanna have all your heavy heat & Sun loving fruit's & veggie's in the ground for the hottest time's on season .I do all my watering at the root level with drip line and water in early morning later afternoon . NEVER when the sun is up ..I'm in upper NY state just a few minutes from the south shore of Lake Ontario and we have our corn in by May .. in fact my entire garden is in by May with the exception of my cold weather veggies ...
+blessedisshegroup We are really looking forward to the move. I was born and raised in Jacksonville so the Florida agriculture is no problem for me. Nancy is always cold so she should love living in Florida❤️
I love how he's talking to and petting the fuzzy leaves like their kittens. 😆😸🌱🐱🐈⬛🐈

Me too!!!
the leaves are huge!
I am amazed at how much knowledge you have about plants. I've learned so much from you.

Question - I see you plant 4 in one spot. Do you thin them later or is there enough room for all 4 in the one spot?
The way you get all excited about the plants is adorable.
+Marie Huynh
😀😀😀😀❤️
You are so fun...Love your humor
These cukes are mild and don't make you repeat (meaning burp hours after eating).Just the best, delicious!
I grew these last year and they were delicious!
Hi marvy how are you doing
Lemon cucumbers are really good ! I am harvesting mine now.

Awesome!! Post some pics on our Facebook Page😍
I love these.. My first year trying them.. Just harvested my first one yesterday and it was perfect! TFS..

Use 100% Cold Pressed Neem Oil not the stuff that comes in ready to use spray bottles

you wont have to use anything on them if you just plant a plant that grows well next to it and deters those bugs. Simple

I do not recommend it
once the season is over how do you get your vines off the trellis??
+Linda Inda
I wait for them to die and turn brown them simply pull them off by hand
I've never had any success with the lemon cucumbers. They were always real dried out in the center. Do you know what causes that?
How much water did you give them? Cucumbers are 90% water and therefore need more water than other crops.
As much as I gave my other cucumbers and they did fine. They were planted together in the same bed and the same conditions. We were up in the mountains then with a lot more wind, but a lot more rain, too.

I hand water to moist. However, we have had excessive rain causing mildew problems in the cukes
how many seeds did you plant in each pot ?
+Suria Baz
I usually do two seeds per cup and remove the weak one by clipping it off with scissors.
What do you use to stop capillars from eating your cucumber
