My 20 year old son started collecting vinyl about 4 years ago and has almost 400 now, I am finally back on board after growing up with nothing BUT vinyl. That store you were at had a very good selection actually, I was impressed.

That thick vinyl box you saw was actually beyonce cowboy carter vinyl and its a collectors edition with a booklet, poster, 2 vinyl discs

If you care about sound quality and convenience, avoid vinyl. If you must listen to vinyl and have money to waste then you need to source good pressings, store them properly, clean them properly, maintain your stylus properly, and hopefully you won't end up with a warped and scratched collection, and even then every time you play a record you will be wearing it out and it will eventually sound even crappier than it sounded when new.
Really, vinyl is for mugs and you should stick to CDs and/or lossless digital files.

thats not true! another entusiast of vinyl made an experiment that cost him like month and a half playing three vinyl in diffent turntables like 100 spins each, and final result, the vinyl sound identical comparing with a brand new copy

The plural for vinyl, is vinyl. I love that you’re getting into record collecting, but it’s not your (or my) generations genre…just ask if you’re unsure. Killer collection so far, I love your choices and think it’s awesome you’re interested.
When referring to albums, we say vinyl to denote that it’s not a CD or digital, but thereafter it’s a record or album. Vinyl is plural, no “vinyls”. 🦚 The more you know.
