    Thanks for the game. I prefer the edited style. Also good demonstration of how it is to stop a raid

      Glad you enjoyed! Yes, I always prefer edited versions, although they take longer to produce, I think it is worth it.

    great game, though I must disagree with your idea of battered units dropping their loot. Battered means you have to pull back disorganised. this means they can only fight back for their attack value of D6. I'm not sure if it is in this rule book or one of the supplements but a battered unit should only lose its "loot" if it is wiped out.

      Yes, that is correct, loot is not dropped, and I accept what you say, but it just means a retreating unit gains by falling back which means it is very hard for a chasing force to ever catch up. So it becomes a game of the first side to find the high value loot will always win, which seems too easy, and lucky. I would much rather a unit has to take into account it could drop the loot and so has to fight to get it back, much more fun. But as I say, I accept your view on this. :)

    Hi! I'm just getting into wargaming and am most interested in Lion Rampant. Do you have any suggestions for starting to collect models, for LR and in general? Thank you!

      I decided to put together both sides, it's easier to find opponents if you can supply both sides and terrain if possible. Then I added other forces that can fight the first two. As I recently holidayed in Sicily, I used Sicily as a base around the time Harald Hardrada was there, so have made up, Varangians, Normans, Byzantines, Arabs and local Sicilians. It makes a nice variety. :)

      @@wargameshobby nice! I started making up two armies as well with the same logic. I got some metal minis from footsore’s barrens war line. It’s been hard to find a single consistent source for medieval stuff. Do most people just patch armies together from different companies?

      @@blackknightseven I have used Perry plastics quite a lot, they are good, also they are lighter to carry about. 😁

    Retreating when close to the board edge - should the unit that was at the board edge have retreated off the board?

    • @wargameshobby
      @wargameshobby  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I try to be flexible with that. Generally, units retreat directly away from the threat, or unit it is fighting, but I always give the benefit of doubt to the withdrawing unit. If you mean the knights falling back from the second combat against the elite foot, as the foot came into contact along the table edge, I feel the retreating knights were able to fall back along the table edge. Had they been hit by the first unit again, from the hill area, I think they would have gone off the table. But as I said earlier, I am very flexible with that rule. 😊

      It was attacked by a unit parallel to the table edge so i of its retreat direction away from the attacker changed to parallel to the edge

      @@wargameshobby I am new to the game, played a mere three games (two last night) and have been devouring Lion Rampant content as a means of learning. As with all rule sets, we all often take a more flexible approach, so long as these are known beforehand.

      @wargameshobby  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@steveww5745 I think in a relaxed friendly game that is the best approach. Competition games are different, which is why I avoid them. 😊
