- Showing 5 ways to stop a Fixed Gear Bike.
1. Skid
2. Jump off
3. Back Pedal
4. top tube skid
5. Hop off the side
Riding with no brakes can be tough, but I Hope these helped you learn a few new ways to stop your fixed gear. 🤙🏼 - บันเทิง
My personal favorite is the face plant
I also like the "crash into the thing you wanted to avoid"
I'm still cannot doing skid, but back pedal is great choice 😂.
Super easy, STRAP!!!
Back pedal over skid any day
Try practicing somewhere that has some dirty or even sand on the ground like a park or something like that. It'll make it way easier to actually skid first off, but most importantly it'll help you figure out the foot placement that's most comfortable for you to skid. I been riding fixed 10 years and this has help a few people I've told.
@levic4344 this is how I learned! A little sand on wet road! 🔥
@Fixedgearr exactly 💯. Best way to learn in my eyes.
I wana see that hope off at 45 kph
1- Sacrafice the tires
2- Sacrafice your frame and handle bars
3- Sacrafice your chain
4- Sacrafice tires
5- Sacrafice frame and handlebars 😂
Every time you get on the bike you’re sacrificing the whole thing 😅
sacrifice
@@Fixedgearreven our lives💀
@@aaronlurchano3293I shall sacrifice my life in order to save my beloved bike from getting a scratch
@@Fixedgearrwhat bike?
6. Install a front brake cause you don't want to die. Would be really neat to use the fork from an older aero bike, some hid the rimbrake in between the fork legs. Hiding the lever would be the real challenge. A throttle mechanism as brake could work.
I want a fixie with one
Awesome demonstration! Thanks for these tips.
Thanks for watching!!🤙🏼 glad I could help
Ahahahah
6. Dont be a donut n mount on a pair of brakes.
That’s like saying don’t be a moron you should drive fast in the rain!
@@LittleweenamanYour analogy is garbage
@@rodgercampo5332 fr ion even know what bro said
Man the backpack sure is high
This was perfect! Thank you 🕺🏾
Glad I could help!🤙🏼😁
Bro Im loving your bike rn
top tube skid was the most impressive, haven't seen that one in a long time, but the filming with fisheye made everything really hard to see. cool video mang, keep it up. p.s. i want to see that front rack adjusted to the platform is level with the ground. cheers
Thanks man! That’s my favorite Forsure but I agree 100% my go pro is an older model so that doesn’t help and the rack needs level! 😁🔥
A movie called Premium Rush is an example of having no brakes and fixed gear it pretty good to watch
If you want to kill a kid, give him a fixed gear to go to school 💀
Normal commute bike in my country. Even 9 year olds can ride it.
@@Heizzer999 Forgot to add "without brakes", since you aren't really supposed to have these on your bike.
But If you're telling me that the kid in your country commute with fixed gear without brake, bro, just wtf
@@Wellshem he's probably filipino
This is what i'm looking for.
me who always use back pedal to not terrified the pedestrian 🚶 and sometimes, jump off when in emergency situations
Fixed gear:DAMM U SO HEAVY IM GONNA CRUMBLE LIKE LEGOS
Bro is premium rush
its all fun and games when you jump off until you feel like a lightning struck your foot💀
Me while going 38 and downhill: guess I'll die
skids are fun and showy and all but for actual momentum control I find backpedalling and small hops to be the most effective
Agreed
Brakes: My first fixie build, I removed the rear brake. After my first 30+mph descent, I replaced the rear brake. Brakes will stop you. All other options are broadly bullshit. At 34mph, I am spinning at 170+rpm. Slowing the rear wheel with the pedals is not an option at that speed. 🙂
Bro im lookin at this thinkin dayum is it worth all that to be cool😂 jus get one fucking brake dayum😅
git gud
If you dont feel safe stopping from 34mph down a hill then dont go that fast down the hill. pedal slower. These bikes are not made for breaking down hill speeds. You cycle them around cities and towns. You see an intersection ahead, you slow your cycling as you approach, see its clear, power on. These stops are not for stopping at intersections or stuff its just for like when you reach your destination, or decide to stop in a park. Even on a mountain bike I jump off the bike instead of using the brakes. The only difference is how I jump off, I step over and stand on one pedal coasting, then just start walking
@@geroutathat Well... This is a complex topic and my days of riding are largely behind me now. O am on my 60s and pedalling much over 170rpm is getting tricky.
But...
1. These machines are essentially derived from track bikes. They absolutely were designed to be ridden at high speed and a high cadence. They have been around a lot longer than the courier-inspired brakeless fixie boom of the past two or three decades.
2. For many decades fixed-gear bikes were used by racers as the standard winter training tool. Often they were built up from track bikes with bridges for the brakes welded on and drilled. Sometimes they were stripped road bikes. And they were ridden on fast, swooping highways with changes of gradient. So... They are meant to fast descents. Not FAST descents, because even with tall (69+ gear inches) gearing, it is hard to exceed 35 mph.... but fast enough. And they are build also (and intended also) for the grindingly slow climbs that precede the descents. Current fashion isn't the same as "these bikes are not meant for".
3. As a frequent London cyclist still (although no longer living there), I am quite used to seeing -and riding among - brakeless Fuji track bikes still relying on the pedals and skidding to slow down. It is fine. It works. Most of the time. The city is not my current riding habitat, but I still ride there sometimes. And incidents happen. And... Having both front and rear brakes on a fixie is a clever place to put yourself. Two of my children (now older and doing other things) worked briefly as cycle couriers. Both had front and rear brakes. It doesn't bring coffee-stop kudos, but it does make sense.
I understand your point, but I disagree. I may be wrong.
Going down a hill? Priceless
I just backpedal and never go faster than i can stop. Learned that my first untraversed downgrade with rr tracka at the bottom. Eyes wode open brakeless.
Love basikal
I do the hope off its kinda hard but i keep practising until i could do it
Smooth
#5 was my shit when my bike had no brakes
i wish i knew these before i face planted straight into a metal gate
My personal fav is sticking your foot in front tires
Skid just seems like the safest on good surface with no grit. The others give me fear. Also where is helmet bro, safety first
He ain’t got brakes lol
Stick into the wheels. Fastest way to stop😂
Thank you for this helpful video. 🙏🏻 Do I need to use those pedals which wrapping my foot?
I would recommend some straps!
I do the skid and top tube skid and whip i use whip for turns i use top tube Skid for like Traffic i use skid for emergency stop like vehicle sudden stop infront of you
It’s so weird to me that people use Velo track bikes on the street -- as a cyclist it seems so pretentious - its like using a hammer when you needed a screwdriver
Can’t agree more. There’s something too it, kinda like riding tubular on the street. We know it’s wrong but it feels right haha
@@Fixedgearr literal velo track bike+ rimbrake era aerobike fork with hidden brakes + fattest tyres you can fit(1.4?) = Safer + almost as minimalist in look. Gotta work on making a motorcycle throttle into your brake lever next.
If a velo track bike is a hammer when you need a screwdriver, whats an ebike? An atomic bomb when you need a grenade? They are amazingly cheap, highly customizable, quiet, and you can do all repairs yourself, they also have flipflop wheels that you can switch over to a freespin cog and cycle like a normal bike. I am speaking in general terms as obviously you can spend as much as you like on a bike. But I have two fixie bikes with track wheels and combined they both cost me less than 200. The cheapest road bike near me was 650. If i came across a full velobike race frame, id think about buying it.
I never got the hype around fixies. Like why would anyone want to ride like this? 😂
toe jam next!
I feel someone had this problem two hundred years ago and just invented the brake.
Круто, очень поучительно
Highly illegal here in Germany.
Rightly so.
Yeah but germany thinks escooters are a good idea, so who cares what they think.
Their is a whole group in Berlin that rides fixed gear
Brakeless is, fixed gear isn't.
I'm from the Philippines. Can I ask, where did you buy your backpack?
This one was from chrome! Called the chrome barrage pro. I’ve since then used the trash messenger bag, and the Bagaboo Chef bag!
Feet off petals foot on top of the rear wheel know as the ( ted shred)
What handle bars and stem is that
You can still run breaks on a fixie. I’ve done it on two bikes
Why would you jump? It’s fixed brake, all you to do ease pedal backwards and your stop. Appreciate the engineering on the mechanical brake ..
There are 5 ways here 😅
@@Fixedgearr sure bet you never did once stop such a way like that
I do it most of the time when I arrive at a pickup. It’s an easy way to get off the bike :)
“appreciate”… Jumping off the fixie is actually a great idea. First of all, it wouldn’t wear off your tires that much. Secondly, there are SO much ways to stop a fixie, so why not try different types? It’s up to them what kind of stop they want, not yours.
I install front brake becs I'm concern of other's safety.
Great way to wrecktify your knee's. Lol!
A few ways!
Back pedal does not work on my fixed gear (Hero Jet). So I use the brakes.
How do I stop a fixed gear bicycle with no break and no chain?
Pray to god
I want my knees to still work when im 81.
Can backpedaling be used to slow your descent while going down a big hill or mountain road? Without skidding so you don't destroy your tire.
Definitely! Obviously if the hill is too steep that would be up to skill and strength of the rider 😂
What will happen if Im running very fast and I pedal backwards?
You should be able to skid!
I just slow a bike only hahaha
These guys just put me in a bad mood.
how about breaks?
Skid is probably the only way to stop a fixie right
5-Hop off
Same 😂🤙🏼
how to stop a fixed gear AMERICAN version:
AR15
M4A3E8
Colt 1911
Glock
45mm Auto Cannon
Quad MiniGun
and lastly a Flying Air support from the First Flying tank with a Titanium Bathtub.
Yeah… brakes are great
Всегда либо второй, либо третий.ю использую. Скид слишком покрышки изнашивает
Just add brake lever like normal people.
What if youre going downhill
Tf where are the grips 😂
Or contemplate why you would do any of that
Can u do the fish in chips bro ? 🤨
That will be next to learn😅
Why wouldn't you just put brakes on it ? Just trying to understand the configuration.
Use the brake.
What if youre going 50 km/h 😅
Never seen anyone jump off to stop
Haha not so reliable at 20 mph but works really good at slow speeds!
More like at no speed, even you jumped off at like 2 mph. Haha
Just teach the people how to skid.. that's the whole point of being fixed and breaks less
Just wtf is the point of this bike
1. Hard to pedal
2. You risk your own life
Any upsides?
😂😂😂
2
please, tell me the name of the model of your backpack
Chrome barrage pro!
@@Fixedgearr thank you!)
have you ever tried 39x16? they said the smaller the ratio the easy to skid
I haven’t! But I have heard that’s true!🤙🏼
@@Fixedgearr I bought a 39t online. I'll make a video if it's legit
39x16 is for weaklings
What bike rack is that?
Origin 8 🤙🏼
Or a brake.
What kind of bike is that?
State co black label
Use breaks maybe?
Install breaks
6 breaks
Why don't just use barkes?(I'm noob and I don't know anything that's why I'm asking)
Some people believe that going brakeless is cool and that adding brakes would ruin the purity of your bicycle. Personally, I think brakes add some much needed safety because you are not alone on the road and not in control of all the circumstances.
Just looks and recklessness. You want a front brake. Try front brake only Vs rear brake only on your bike. The rear can't do much. There's not that much grip on the rear. Same as with cars+ motorcycles.
Put a brake on
I want a fixie so bad
Any bikes without brakes shouldn't be on the public street. At least get a front vbrake.
Best way is to get a non fixed bike
Tengo mas de 20 años manejando fix eres un novato
I'll Jump off
Oh just get a bike with brakes
Sounds like fun
No brakes =no brains
State bicycle ?
Yes!
@@Fixedgearr got the same model 😊
Or... Stop being a hipster and put brakes on it.
That sounds super boring
How to stop fixed gear hassle? Get a mountainbike.
I used to shove the tip of my shoe in between the tire and the fork.
Stopie!
Thow away fixed gear, thats the only eay we can stop this trash trend
😂
Skibid?
bro thinks its a brainrot shit
Suicidal.
posers
😂
Why not just buy brakes and u wont need to learn all this
