LOL, I was never trained in the Maxxpro. I got to Iraq and was asked to drive one anyway. I finished my tour and was even awarded for driving the Maxxpro-Plus for over 1000 hours in combat. To be fair, I did have experience driving big trucks before getting into the Maxxpro. Air brakes, push button gear selectors..."So easy a caveman could do it" that is, IF you don't roll the top-heavy POS. I hated the suspension on those things.
Yeah, I think it was tough to balance the disadvantage of top heavy vs the advantage of having the V hull higher off the road surface. A little distance from a buried IED probably makes a big difference.

I'd just like to know what it feels like to be truly safe, even sitting in it for just a minute. It would be a new experience.
I used to build those the whole thing is armor all of it lol when we finished the last one we had a big ass party and they brought one that was getting ready to ship out and we all got to take turn riding it and that was the coolest thing I ever got to do…the scariest part was just opening and closing the door it was so heavy it’s like it didn’t want to open or close….the vhaul in the back is shaped like a v and is 1/2 thick armor with ribs on the inside shaped like a v and about 1foot tall with another layer of 1/2armor and in the front where the engine sitting we named the punisher because we can only build 1 in a 12hr shift lol this vehicle is safer than the presidents limo..it can drive away on 3wheels which is almost impossible to do
it is not so safe ,a MRAP can be penetrated by a EFP (explosive formed penetrator) it has happened before ,look up on youtube "US soldier recovers after losing all four limbs"

The glass can't, pretty sure everything else can stop a 50cal unless it's an armor piercing round then it depends
what MOS or rank do I need to drive it? or do I just get picked randomly?

No, but it might be on a case-by-case basis. I was Air Force and was tasked for a joint expeditionary deployment to support an Army unit in Afghanistan, and this course was part of my pre-deployment training

Jesse Valdez I was a 2T2, Air Transportation specialist. I ended up directly assigned to Army 10th SFG and an SOF task force as their Air Movement liaison.. it was a rare gem of a deployment. Aside from MRAP/M-ATV driving for pre-deployment, I also had to do urban SERE school for a week and a month of Army Combat Skills course

I live in a small town in Texas. Why the hell do the POLICE need this? (Saw one in the police station parking lot) I think it's a waste of taxpayer money if it's not going to the military.
The military has been phasing them out, so they are being offered to military of allies, and to police agencies. For many smaller agencies, a purpose built bullet proof rescue vehicle is out of reach. A rural agency might never need to use it, but get an active school shooter, or someone shot in a parking lot with the shooter somewhere inside- state police’s swat team 2 hours out...

Ugly?? I don’t think the looks is the point of this vehicle. It’s definitely for safety. And it’s so badass. Like, it’s basically as if a humvee and a tank had sex.
Manuel 22 not for safety at all. The doors are al mechanized so getting in a canal or maybe a heavy IED you won’t be able to open it without other people around you intervening. And they serve no purpose since they already have the Cougar MRAP
