    Hey Ryan, coming from a polisher WEAR A FACE MASK OR RESPIRATOR WHEN POLISHING. That’s some of the worst stuff to inhale. Also sanding to 600 grit will make all of the difference along with a orange wheel for your first cut to remove more micro scratches.

  • @thekolbyward
    @thekolbyward 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Start with 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000 and then hit it with a orange cutting wheel with brown Tripoli compound, wipe it down with pro 25, then the green color wheel with green moss compound, wipe it down with pro 25 again, and then finally hit it with the white wheel with the show finish compound and it will look perfect! I’ve never filmed myself doing an exhaust but I do have a video on my channel showing me using the different buffing wheels I cut and colored with brother!

  • @creativepoolinstallations9136

    hey ryan, get a big bench grinder and put your buffing wheels on each end of it. way easier and more control of the job.

    When getting the exhaust polished before you start sanding it down if there is any pits or light scratches in the metal, a dremel works good In seams or tight spots, and then sand it after that’s what I did when I sanded/polished my turbo housing(compressor side) and it worked good, hope this helps! Keep up the good work

    Some of your micro scratches will be from such a heavy first sanding with the 120, skip that 120 and start with a higher count it might take a little longer to get the sanding done but will end up the same time or shorter because your not chasing deep scratches out

    Typically it is best to go to 600 grit to pull more of the micro scratches out and don’t went sand. Wet sanding does a weird thing where I find a lot of times the result doesn’t come out the best.

    Ryan, trucks awesome your awesome but you may be wasting your time on that exhaust, I think it's galvanized steel so I wouldn't be worrying too much about it and if that stack you have is stainless your better send it off to a professional because stainless steel is one of the hardest things to polish, but as a beginner you can get practice on galvanized steel, get a orbital sander and it will go way fast, no reason to wet sand. 220 320 420 and 600 grit should do it, the best polisher I know in Wisconsin so not super far is Evan Steger. He is one of the best polishers I've seen. Got watch all his videos.
