This is awesome drill, these soldiers are not even members of the PLA's Guard of Honor just regular army demonstrating basic drill movements for their comrades. Anyone that knows anything about drill will know that their dressing is always perfect, they observe the standard pause etc...

Evey member of the PLA from the lowest ranking soldier to the highest ranking general will have a perfect naval hand salute that is not evident in any armed forces in any part of the world.
For those that are wondering why soldiers do close order drill like this is: to learn to think as a team, and, this is how groups of soldiers moved around on the battlefield when every army had those older, single shot, muzzle loaders. Both flintlock and percussion cap. To get a massed volley of fire the entire company or regiment had to coordinate everybody to fire at the same time. Plus, close order drill is a very efficient way to get a lot of people to some destination very quick.

If you're here in the US, then the closest thing to this is JROTC(I'm a Marine Corps JROTC cadet and do drill/March and am also on my school's drill team).
What they are trying to achieve was everyone move exactly the same, when they train, they put needles in their clothes, so if their movement is a bit over, the needle will sting them. China doesn't really have rifle drill tradition.. Sure, they do it sometimes, but they don't put a lot time into it...

Even with the additional showy moves and merging of prepatory/execution commands. For pure entertainment, the PLA is one giant demo team. God their about faces make me think they are going to twist their knees, lol. I am curious how it developed that way. Americans and Russians march exactly the same way they did when lines of guns were still a thing.

Just because the Chileans look Prussian doesn’t mean they are, they’re drill just like this one is just based on it with a lot of changes and improvements. But the PLA even does the old German ,,at ease“ with the left foot to the front.

No. The purpose of military drill (in any country) is to instill: Uniformity/Unity Consistency to follow orders Teamwork Reflex sharpness Maintain auditory reaction All traits that are needed when in battle. Drill has existed for hundreds of years.
Also, to add on, drill used to be actual battle movements and a unit leader/commander would give them commands on what to do. Also, in modern times, drilling is a great way to instill discipline and make a group of people become one machine/work together. It's also a more dignified way of moving from one point to another.
Drilling has been around for hundreds of years and has been used by many countries, as Dan Black states. Unless you were a soldier back in the Revolutionary to Civil War, I highly doubt the Chinese would march in a big straight line in the front lines just for a enemy tank to run up on them. Then again, I do not know what they do in the battle field, so this is just basic knowledge of war.

主要是练习服从、细节、标准、集体荣誉感！还有一个重要的，我认为是最重要的，就是队列训练可以锻炼你笔挺的身体，仔细观看你会发现每一个动作结束靠腿的那一刻，战士的身体会有一个往上挺的动作！当兵的人背部都是笔挺的，亲身经历并改变了自己的驼背

I think it is a nature their twitchy style of their DnC. They have no prepatory commands and execution commands that I can tell.

解放军的领带式的军常服穿起来麻烦，又有外套，又有衬衫领带（虽然领带是拉链式的倒也方便），平时执勤办公不够精致（臂章都是挂上去的而不是绣上去的，全球几乎没有别的国家是这么搞的），但是出操阅兵既不够舒适又不够隆重。还不如发展立领的阅兵礼服，外面看起来笔挺，里面穿一个t桖就够了。至于常服，现在的问题是衬衫都不怎么合身，全军都搞定做的固然不现实，但是最起码天安门的国旗班那几十个应该得有定做的吧？其他兵种的可以有拉链式的衬衫，外面是义扣里面是拉链，这样如果只是穿衬衫或者衬衫+领带出勤，永远都显得笔挺合身。
