Yeah, fighters can't land on friendly carriers. Beamdog has been aware of this issue for a long time but no fix has been forthcoming. I am guessing this will never be fixed as this has been an issue since day one.
I think Beamdog isn’t really developing this game anymore. I doubt there is a single person working on this anymore. They aren’t actually making money off it. The truth is, most of their sales happened during early access. It’s really too bad because there is so much they could do to improve the game. Different setups. Different maps. Bug fixes.
@@taylorthrow7850 well not completely idiots. They got the money first before running. The game is pretty bad IMHO, especially if you play against the AI. I have yet to figure out how to select losses when it isn't my turn. Ridiculous that it decides to keep an aircraft carrier and kill the fighter (even though it could land on a controlled land that isn't being attacked). Or keeping the AA gun when plane aren't even attacking. Maybe it plays better when it's all humans, but overall, looks like they got something out, got paid, and then abandoned it.
I saw some of the comments about the sub submerge, but I think it was due to a destroyer in the attacking fleet that prevents any sub special action including submerge
Setting defense profiles set after the next turn of the faction set. If you want to have the sub submerge, it would have to be set pre game. Which is done in settings.
I haven't been able to figure out defense profiles at all. Not very intuitive and either before or after the game, there isn't anything to select on the drop down. Beyond frustrating. Well that and the continual "random" dice that seems to always roll 1 when I do a strat bombing or if I somehow get a strat bomb through, only does 1 damage...
Question: Round 3, why didn't Germany take Moscow ? (with minimal resources, say 2 inf, 2 tanks, 1 fighter). They lose it back, but they get Russia's money for that turn, no? Isn't it an obvious move ?
I was thinking the same thing lol. Apparently it wasn't an obvious enough move that two people missed it. Frankly the Axis player here was quite terrible.
It seems you dont really focus infantry too hard on the soviets, why is that? Wouldnt full (or nostly full) infantey builds force more infantry out of germany and slow down their mech production?
3:44 Something I notice in the wording of defense profiles is very strange to me. It says, "Changes to a power's defense profile will not take affect [effect] until the next time is is your turn as that power. You are looking at the USSR profile and the USSR profile is not used in the SZ7 battle, because it is a UK battle. It will use the UK profile. What troubles me about the wording is it implies that the change does not take effect until your next turn as that power, which will be B1. That wording implies the G1 turn will use the old profile. I do not know why it should be like that. While I understand the necessity of an AI to control your units for your opponent while it is their turn, I think defense profiles are dumb. For example, when might you decide to lose your carrier before your fighter? You might be fighting to win and you want the extra points. You might decide to lose the fighter before the carrier if you are in a hostile zone and there is no safe place for your carrier to land. What if you have carriers in each situation and you want to handle them differently? When do you lose the bomber in a land battle? Again, you might lose it before the infantry if you are fighting to keep that territory and that one point might win the battle. When do you lose your AA gun? The order you lose your units might vary depending on the number of attackers and their chance of taking the territory. So I believe the defense profile should be final orders given to units, after deploying units - and you should have some way to combat test your defense profiles.
I love the format of the video, the commentary - plus you're a very rare one to do a split US strategy which i love to do. While its not a *true* split, you're using the US to do the same thing as the axis is trying to do but instead you're forcing them while using the UK and Russia to compensate this axis player wasnt a top player, the non existant pressure, the way he just allowed afrika to do nothing despite doing his best breakthrough there. He couldhave secured it and put more pressure on India+Russia from the south only criticism is how asutralia sat for too long imo. His japans started to build anything for turns LOL, let alone moving troops.
My advice for Russia turn 1 is to not retreat from Ukraine until the bomber is destroyed. That bomber does serious work, definitely worth risking some tanks.
Idk? Say you have 3 tanks and an artillery left then now you're giving away 22 ipc in order to kill 12 ipcs. Now factor in +2 for the capture and you eliminate 2 German infantry in their counter. That still an even trade which is hard for the Russians to accept.
@@donaldshotts4429 ppl that say that dont really play the game, germany have to send units and planes to retake it, also losing units on that battle so the 22 become less. also removing the bomber is a big hindrance for germany. 12 IPC spend to rebuy it is 2 tanks or 4 infantry less. if udont kill that bomber and fighter, africa is automaticly lost
@@sirundying Well a Platinum player withdrew the other day and killed me later, but he also had 8 infantry standing after West Russia R1. My cutoff is 3 tanks and 1 artillery. I'll retreat and save that for 1 German bomber. The bomber by itself doesn't guarantee anything in Africa R1. It upgrades Germany to a coin flip basically plus you're saving a minimum of 22 Ipc for Russia
Possibly, although I had 2 US subs off Japan's coast on submerge (no other nation there) and Japan sunk them with a Cruiser/plane combo. So maybe submerge is busted?
Re: Russian/Brit submerge: There's some sort of weird implementation where, I forget what it was, the first nation there or the one with the most units applies its defensive profile to all units. So yes, USSR sub would submerge depending on UK's defensive profile in that situation. Re: 2 US subs: I'll have to take your word on it. But attacking air can't hit subs if attacker doesn't have a destroyer along. Possibly the attacker had a destroyer that was sunk, and only the attacker's fighter and cruiser survived? Or, again, a bug.
Same game, but alot of glitches. I just started playing and losing on Steam)) Can't put a plane on a allies carrier for one. You can't bridge your transport or go 1 space pick up a unit then go to a different zone and attack. The angles of movement can be weird too? Had a Brit transport to the Netherlands and wanted to park it with my other warships but it kept directing me around England instead of underneath it? Strange? I might get a bigger monitor? Still fun though
@@sirundying thanks. I've figured out a lot since then. I don't know if there are other solutions but I just move the transports 1 space at a time then unload. The only thing that irritates me at this point is I'll get in a big climatic battle and my AA and bomber will be sitting on the Battle board at the end and I'll lose by 1-2 units. It feels like I've already changed my defense profile, but I guess it always resets?
