TONIGHT I DECIDED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO TO MY DUBLINER WIFE, GERARDINE SPITERI BYRNE (76), SUFFERING FROM PARKENSONS. IT IS VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND HER SPEACH AND SHE FEELS DOWN. I FELT SO GOOD AND GREATFUL WHEN I SAW HER SMILING AND SINGING CLEARLY MOLLY MALONE.
I am a transplanted American married to a lovely Irish woman, and I love to listen to all these songs. The stories of joy, hardship, unfairness, life and death, all are the "peoples" stories. They bear repeating and are always worthy of remembrance. Just like the older country music and bluegrass tunes in America, the stories told are real and heartfelt. As long as we remember those that toiled, suffered, and even died in the struggle for a better life for their posterity, then their suffering was not in vain.
Great music lovely songs. The members of the Dubliners band were all very talented people. It was a well arranged programme. Lovely to see and listen to all the different songs from the different talented performers of the Dubliners Band John Sheahon on Violin and Tinwhistle Barney McKenna on Banjo, Ronnie Drew singing The town I loved so well. Jim Mc Cann singing Four green fields, Paddy Reilly singing, Come back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff and The fields of Athens. Mr. Campbell was great on the guitar and the man who sang Sweet rose of Avondale. I cannot recall his name. All told it was a great show. I was delighted to have seen it on TH-cam. Thankyou very, very much ❤
I was raised on this stuff (in Columbus, OH)...you never saw a more Irish woman than my 4'10 Italian mother. After she passed, my dad would tell everyone and anyone that she enjoyed being Irish more than anyone he knew.
Eamonn Campbell was the real forgotten hero of the band. Almost an original, a real professional musician, mainstay of the band for near 30 years! Legend.
the age of folk is over and that is a sad thing.. it was so great to sit and listen and REALLY enjoy the music.. today the artists? can't hold a candle to the like of these performers....God how I miss performers like these..

The Dubliner's are my favourite Irish Singers. I have been enjoying there Beautiful Irish Music since I was a very young lad. You don't have to see with your eyes what they show you in their beautiful singing and songs. God gave them the gift of blessing us with such beautiful songs, what a wonderful group of voices & talent. My family came from Northern Ireland,The Town of Ballymena. Irish flows through my vains and always will. Thanks Dubliners for touching my life forever. "IRISH" ! I Love You! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
I'm Sottish and I lived in their house in Dublin for a week.. They are scruffy, but have true love towards people and convey this in their love of music. They are the types that we need.
@@Deejaay83urj38 Your assessment is 100% accurate! You must have heard all 3 versions, irish scot, country/bluegrass, rock n roll? I myself love all 3.

Ronnie looks like he's choking back tears when singing the town I loved so well. Made all the nicer as far as I'm concerned. RIP Barney, Ronnie, Ciaran and Luke.

All incredible human beings, all so full of soulful talent, sorely missed,,, those who's voices have fallen silent.....in my humble opinion, John was the steadfast glue that kept this group alive through the many changes....I get tears in my eyes just looking at John sometimes because he carries so much and has endured so much through many years of all the changes.
