Great video thanks .You have let the cat out of the bag ! Not only is it very sensitive it can get into small spaces that "Mr or Mrs " big coil people can't ! And I was going to keep that secret to myself . Darn it !
Bill, your videos are the ones I recommend to anybody that asks if the Eqx will find gold! So many people dream of hitting the goldfields but can only afford one general purpose machine. I can tell them it works-but you prove it! Thanks and keep the videos coming!
I've had amazing success at finding tiny pieces of gold like that here in Idaho with the 800 as well. It's got some serious ability for tiny targets. Thanks Bill.
Great video! I have the nox and this machine is all purpose in a manner that didn t cease to amaze me! Land, beach, sea, gold...tiny little nuggets unbelievable to be detected...great detector. Thanks for your video!

1 is better than none! I may have to rethink my Gold Monster 1000 wish and move to the EQ 800. A little more money, but it seems to do the job well and it has some additional features. A little more involved to set up, but not really a problem. Nice job on the video.
I know the purist will say a all-around machine is not as good as a specialized gold machine on gold but if it will find gold that small in tough soil I'll take it and they can razz me all they like, good demonstration .........
Oh yeah I forgot to mention on Sunday I was out hunting with my nox and I found a 1910 half dollar 1942 silver quarter and a 1940 something can't read it dime and two wheat pennies 1955 and a 1940s love my nox's
Got to hunt for a few hours south of the 10 this week and this was the first time I used the Nox for nugget hunting and let me say the hot rocks were killing me! Each swing is hit 15 different signals all around 10-14 and those were the hot rocks. I eventually notched out from 10-15 just so I could consentrate. I know that’s not the right way but at least I stated pulling small little pieces of lead. No gold though... do you have a tip on not being overwhelmed by all those hot rocks without notching them out?
I see you are using the 6" coil have you used the 15" coil and how do you compare the extra coverage the 15" would give compared to the extra sensitivity of the 6" or is it just a case of 'horses for courses'. In the ideal world I would like both but having a budget is forcing me to go for one or the other atm. Thanks for your videos it's great to see some one who really knows their stuff, I've been swinging a detector since The Garret Groundhog A2B was state of the art, that's a long time and when I'm not learning from you I'm agreeing with you. Thanks again.
Page 26 of the manual for the Equinox 800 states that gold 1 is for mild ground, gold 2 is for more difficult heavily mineralised ground. Am I missing something, it seems to me to be the other way round, what's the thoughts of people that have used gold 2 more then me. every time I switch to gold 2, I just switch it straight back to gold 1, comments please.
It works OK for prospecting, but struggles some with the hot ground at least where I have tried it here. I was able to find a couple small nuggets though.
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS love your videos! Super informative. Been watching ever one you have posted since I’ve found your channel. Awesome to see how you and your wife go together :) do you think the 800 matches up with the Gold monster when it comes to small flakes or larger pickers/nuggets. Thank you so much if you get the time to reply and look forward to seeing more and learning from you!
Wow, that is one sensitive machine. Looks like I want a 6" but I haven't ever used a metal detector before so, I admittedly need some experience before I go making any decisions like that. I am in the Mojave, north east Mojave to be more exact, so my terrain isn't to much different than yours, I don't believe. Mine is the 11" and getting into tighter spots in a wash or something does look like having that option would be more beneficial.
Wow, it’s an impressive detector, I order mine last month, but now we have 3 feet of snow ☹️ and snow will be here for another 3 months. Maybe I should move to AZ, lol.
Some yes some no, because the 11 inch coils "sees" more area it can be less stable and miss some of the tiny targets the 6 inch can focus easily on. Just the nature of the beast and the same with most all detectors.
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS thank you I was just going to ask you that question. I just bought the GM 1000 and am working on learning it found my first nugget last week with it. .628 gram. Thank you for all of your videos. They are helping me learn the machine. I think my next machine will be the 800 but it will be a while after becoming confident with my current one. Thanks again Robert W.
Another great video! Do you recommend the 6in or 11in for gold detecting? We went out for a short hunt to a gold field no luck unfortunately. Had a few what seemed like good targets with a VDI of 2-4 but then when we dug a little they changed to 12-13 or would be in the minus? If they go into the minus is that just a hot rock/iron?
6 inch has been the best so far, but also found gold with the 11 though it was noisier due to larger size. I turned down the sensitivity and all was well. I use a PI for deep gold so the 6 inch coil fits great in shallow stuff
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS thanks for your reply. How do you go with the target ID? Do you find if you open up into all metal and it goes into the minus it is just a hot rock or iron?
Illusive. I have found with my equinox one is usually a small gold piece and two seems to be Bird shot or a small piece of lead a lot of the times that said I wouldn't pass up a two
Hay bill loved the video hope you do more on the equinox looking for gold. No David it does not compare you are correct and the 800 was not meant to compete with the CTX as it was meant to fill a nique. I thought I saw a piece of bird shot in the scoop? Do you think you hit on that initially and the gold was with it? Had that happen more than once
We checked the hole several times and no birdshot Tom, the GPZ has this issue with very small targets once removed from their resting place.
Maybe it hit stronger while in the ground because of the slight halo effect?
did you ever find tiny gold with the ctx 30 30? maybe sometime you could do a gold comparison hunt with the nox 800 and ctx??
