I am still slightly on the edge with backing this game, but it does look fun and anything in the Cyberpunk world is always a good thing (especially the Edgerunners expansion!). One thing that makes me hesitate is the compulsory timer, I’d probably end up using a set number of turns per fight, especially if I’m playing with my wife as I’m sure she’d hate the timer! 😂
This is how ill be playing for the first time just so ill be able to wrap my head around everything so ill be able learn it all first and then teach and explain my wife how to play 😂
I’m already all in pledged and will probably play solo a lot. This way I kinda miss the two character dynamic. Can’t the app be made like in a chess game? You have x amount of time. And the moment u finish your turn. U tap the timer and your timer stops and the other character’s timer starts running. And back and forth until one is finished. The complete game stays the same just the timer is an adjustment. And gives little more thinking time. Overall can’t wait to see more.
Finally a solo play-through. I think the token mechanism should be shown to see how it works. Also what happens when you have an ability that targets another player? Do you target yourself instead?
It would be better if the Minotaur board was dual layered. Too many slots it would too easy to knock the cubes. Dual layer means the cubes slot in nicely. Any board like this should be dual layered.
Yesterday I was SO close to cancel my 300 € pledge because I was confused by some comments online that the game doesn't have any content behind the timer mechanic. Now I've seen the new gameplay videos and the solo mode... I'm in!
Can't say this was helpful for addressing my main concerns with solo. I understand you want to pause to explain but you keep acting when paused. This also didn't address the main issue I see of having to be two places at once. Yes, you can place a token but it still doesn't explain how cover twice as much ground. I see this must be a real issue for your group to solve since you chose to play a scenario that didn't involve this mechanic. All that said, I am sure it was mentally taxing to play a timed solo game, while explaining in a secondary language, and trying to make it exciting enough to get people like me off your back. You did this portion very well. I am impressed and I do not feel I could do it as well as you did. My issue with the video has mostly to do with the scenario you chose.
From what I understand, since you get all the loot, you end up being a bit stronger than in multiplayer mode so it kinds of balance itself with the fact that sometimes, you may have to do more work to succeed in a mission.
@lonelydicegames It is not like it is a little more work to be in two places at once. You might have to be on opposite sides of the map to achieve one objective. I feel this could lead to a lot of backtracking on missions causing a solo player to actually have to move more than double the amount of two players. It sounds like it could be more grindy than fun. Also you then have to keep pulling movement cards while constantly reshuffling. These are my fears
@@MacScelaro I get your point, hoping they will find a way around this. I'm satisfied with this video though, as long as there are not a huge amount of mission where you need to go to two place at the same time it's probably not too hard to find a rule/workaround.
But I don't see the issue of playing with 2 players by yourself solo. Or am I missing something. But I completely get your point. Some other games do have special rules for these missions ffor solo players
Not only you. My hope is we sooner or later get home brew rules for no-timer, standard turn play, on sites like BGG. Because Go On Board is highly allergic to the idea for some reason.
Honestly i'm really in two minds about getting this game. But the timed aspect of it REALLY puts me off. If you guys can think of an alternative ruleset to do away with that feature then it would be an immediate pledge for me.
Thx for the video ! 2 questions. a) Can one player board be modified for solo so that the 3th and 4th level has 2 and 3 holes to put the chards in ? So this will not increase the production price but will help to keep track for solo . b) will solo gameplay have more time then multiplayer ? Because you have to move double than the normal multiplayer edgerunner ? Or will the solo player have an extra move card or something ? Thx
At 30:12, why is just the one guard shooting and not the other guard and/or the Minotaur? And if only one enemy is shooting, why is it that guard, because the Minotaur is just as close.
@@kervala The problem is with the timer there needs to be some adjustments. Dual handing requires putting one deck down, picking up another, then we have to plan the move since we can’t necessarily do that while playing the other character
Honestly it might be quicker to play two hand than with a second person. The issue is, after a mission or two, your brain is going to start feeling fried. I don't view the timer as the issue with two hand. It is just the level of brain burning
I have a question, could someone play 4 characters by themselves? Should they use the timer or play without? Just asking because sometimes people just want to play games like these without having to create a game night with friends, but with a full squad of characters.
I think its possible (they said they playtested a mission with two hands of cards), but four hands and all the options in the table could be so much to manage under the time preassure.
what is the point of wound cards in a solo game? with multiple players the hand is clogged and we lose some time because you have less options on your turn, but in a solo game? even if we draw a wound card, nothing happens because it's our turn again and nothing changes because we'll draw the rest of the cards soon
Enemies in this game are literally braindead and apparently the only difference between different types of enemies is the different dice rolled 😅 Even the Minotaurs in this video seem to have the same stupid AI
Thanks! But what happens when you have abilities or something that targets another player? Usually the cheaper option of hacks. Like move another player.
These quickhacks have usually two effects, one for another player, and one for yourself. While playing solo you simply use the latter. And when an objective asks "another Player" to do something, you must do it yourself.
idk i dont dig this game sorry guys, board games sometimes can reflect the real meaning if lets say your health is max, instead calling it a booster, in the game you can have an inhaler which heals up to max if down for eg.
Imho RT timer is just the wrong mechanic for this kind of game. Just extimate how many turns people take in a given time and make so the game gives players X turns before each cooldown
32:09 - it's cheating?! When you in line with enemy then you're with fight with them. You roll dice for fight with guard, but not for minotaur? Which feels like something is broken and when you attack room full of guard then fight is 1vs1 not 1vs4 Or not rolling dice for minotaur in this case was some special rule which I don't understand correctly OR is omitted [After few seconds of thinking ;) ] I watch it again - you're in fight only with enemy which you attack, but if you end your turn in room with two guards then you're in fight with two enemies? In general that feels odd HA! 29:12 you moved minotaur to your room and you don't start fight with 3 enemies but in 46:07 you move minotaur and he is with line with you and round is starting with fight. Again example of something begin weird with this combat mechanics.
Thank you for this! Now I know how it will play as solo and I am On Board! 😊

Too bad there's a new all in now
That was awesome. The timer really makes the game feel alive and adds some fun pressure. Good job, Judy xD
Finally a solo play-through.
I think the token mechanism should be shown to see how it works.

It's explained on gamefound website. You need to firstly do a 'second player' action - like go to point B and then do objective for first player
It would be better if the Minotaur board was dual layered. Too many slots it would too easy to knock the cubes. Dual layer means the cubes slot in nicely. Any board like this should be dual layered.

I would love to see some actual high def close ups of the minis
It looks good, my big concern is I usually prefer to be able to dual hand solo games. I really wish there was a way to play a second character
You can control from 1 to 4 characters yourself :) This video is demonstrating the true solo mode where you only play 1 character :)

You could do that but just do “tactical pauses”

Is it possible to modify rules to add a 5th player?
Hijack the alarm signal? Shouldn't that be 'disable the alarm signal'?
Isn't it weird that the enemies don't move once you have engaged them? Like they don't chase you if you shoot them and then turn a corner :S

Do you not have to pay RAM to unlock new quickhacks when playing solo or did you just forget during this gameplay?
Can The Minotaur damage itself when you hack him?
