You will see that the point where two circles intersect each other is point p. 7. Draw a line perpendicular to point o' again(call it o'p') of 3 cm at bottom side. 8. Now draw line op' of 5cm 9. The line oo' is 4 cm and is the common side of both the triangles. 10. Now as we can see that it is just 2 triangles which are congruent by sss criteria. 11. Now the common chord will be line pp' 12. We know the oength of line po' = o'p'=3 13. So, length of pp'= po'+o'p'= 3+3=6 14. You got the common chord as 6 :)
