I remember reading an article about them years ago. It was mentioned that because they all had given up their musical instruments for jobs and careers that it was unlikely that they'd ever play again. Look at God workin. 🙏🏿
Was just listening to Robert Elms on BBC London Radio interviewing Patrick Patterson. WoW what a find, it's the sound of past , present and future. Timeless. Amazing to hear Patrick talking about his other career as a Barrister in the British courts ! Imagine that, telling your friends your dad is a top Lawyer and... oh in his spare time he also founded one of the most influential funk band in history and inspired countless HipHop DJs and producers and film directors... Mad !
Yesterday I had the absolute privilege of seeing these guys live at Womadelaide 2024 on a very hot summer Australian evening in the Botanic gardens and wow wow wow smashed it live 💥 so much respect... So cool 😎
The voice is sweet
One of the best bands ever!
So pleased they are having a second act in their musical career. Still absolutely blazing
The Message at the end was perfect! Another group that kept me going in the turbulent 70’s.
Are you kidding me, I am like seven years late on the party, could never imagine I'd see them on video (I am a huge fan of the self titled LP). This is great.
I still have the album from 1972 Great and timeless songs
who i am named after respect
Respect!
Glad to know that they are still around
How has this only had 35 thousand views in a world of 8 billion people?😂
Kris Clarke, cause they don't appreciate great bands from the 1970s. I sure remember them raised in South Central LA. Glad we were introduced to all types of music. ❤
@foxysil52 hey man.....yes I totally agree.....this band make me proud to be British....(that feeling doesn't happen very often)
The perfect chill out music
Still going strong: the message... omg
I discovered this group last year searching for old skool funk jazz .... and i was hooked
I first heard this group when I was in high school and playing with a group called the 16th Generation, we played some of their music and kept the dance floor full, great group.
great band, really nice vibes
I love this sound
Bought the album at 14 yrs of age. At 67 still lovin the good groove. Keep diggin everbody
These guys are still great!
As a lover of Funk music, I have never heard of this group until recently. This is my kind of music! Love it!
I just found these guys loving their style/vibes and this isn't my go to type of music

Wow, this was GREAT !!! I never had an idea I would get to see and enjoy this legendary group of artists!! This is how it's done !! Live !!
Seriously is there someone just going around giving thumbs down to great music like this..
That's someone who don't know music when they hear it.
No, not me thumbs up. Cymande songs are soothing.
Yes, angry retarded people that can’t stand seeing people being happy!❤
The Grandpa's Band...
Sounds good 👌🏻 by the way!
I remember buying cymanda albums in the 70s Powerful music..
This is grrrrrreat! :)
So Amazing.
Back in the day of the dinosaurs going to a record store was a required ritual where the staff could usually direct you to the hippest music that was flying under the radar. That's how I found this group who joined War, Mandrill and Funkedelic on my turntable among the many other funk bands of that era.Good to see they still got it after all these years
been here.
Fantastic!
Chad Newhouse re-released several of their albums in the late ‘00s. RIP Chad.
Great band!!! never heard of them till tonight in passing. Just so soulful.
Great performance 🌆
Love these guys!
Guys, we're looking forward for your live concert here on São Paulo, Brazil in april. It's gonna be epic. 🔥❤
How was it?!
Awesome!
amazing, thanks for uploading
Incroyable ❤

Hey !!!! Those days, a party without Cymande was dead. Oh these guys really made the world fun more than half a century ago. Kudos to them.
"Bra" was the the song for me in high school..Partied hard on that song.!.. " But it's alright"..Yeah!
June 20th 2023. I Remember Them. Being A Musician Is A Hard, Wonderful Life. Wish They Could've Kept It Movin In The Spare Time, Because They Were Ahead Of Their Time.
My absolutely favorite band!
If Putin would have listened to them....
We need a good vinyl of this recording
nice
......Awesome....Give the drummer some.....
Awesome! This is a real gem.
Just amazing!
Amazing !!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 😎
Cymande! What a band? Rap music sampled Bra and the brilliant Message.
Yep..Spike Lee used "Bra" on the soundtrack of the movie"25th hour" starring. Ed Norton and Phillp Seymour Hoffman.
One of the very best 💣💥🔥
A gem session
The best!
Close your eyes and you could be listening to Boz Scaggs …… very smooth 👍😎🇳🇿🎸
I just saw them on NZ TV News interviewed about their return to recording. Apparently they are doing 6 shows in Australia shortly.
went to see the documentary and spoke to them. They are playing Australia soon. Unfortunately, a few have passed and not all will be doing the tour but their tunes are wicked!!🙃
I like this group I remember BRA it was a big hit for them never heard this other material fine music all around ❤
Super
DEMAIS! carinho do brasil
Wow
legendaire!
Premium quality 🙂
Crawshay ❤
The interesting thing about this tune outside of the Bassline phrases is the lyric and how many different words are said depending on the version or the singer to tell this important story and Google never gets it right..
🤟😁💚
💚😎🤙💨
Who are the original members here and their instruments please.
Scipio 4 life.
Sam Kelly did a lot to hold this together over the years, they got more than they bargained for when he joined the band.
Which one is Sam Kelly? Was he one of the original members?
(So happy this band gets the recognition they deserve, better late than never).
@@thomasbrown7328 Sam is the drummer. Very early on the original drummer bailed out for some reason and Sam was brought in, he was just 18 I think. He played the drums on all Cymande albums.
They were quite successful around 1972-73, the only British soul band to tour the United States.
@@monsieurhercule Thanks! Apparently they played on Soul Train but I can’t find the footage.
I love spreading their word… a reggae singer recently started working with me in the hospital and had never heard of them- they arent true reggae of course but they are universal- I just bought another copy of their main album - it should come in the next few days and I’m giving it to him :)
@@thomasbrown7328 They have been recognized. Been listening to them my whole life and they are, and have always been, well regarded in funk/soul circles.
14:11 bra breakdown
You let the bass man sweat out all those bars and never put the camera on him once ?? Why ??!!
is that jazz?
