    I just got the gen1 version of this machine. It works well. I think that one is a couple hundred watts more so should be quicker. R2D2? That's fabulous. :)

    I’ve got the same unit and I just got my 2nd one in after having the first ones screen melt during the first melt. I’ll be sticking to silver and trying it out over the weekend.

    I have the same SY furnace, had it since late 2019 and has always worked quite well! I have been able to melt some copper in it. Just takes a real long time for it to heat up. Works great when melting scrap, or doing my silver/gold pours

    • @SilverDragons47
      @SilverDragons47  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      very cool! yeah the hardin gets a lot hotter so copper is a easy with that one 🔥🐉

    You should make a correction to the video, it has a Max temp of 1150 and melts copper without any problems, I literally ordered the same model and received it this weekend, poured copper all weekend and this morning as well and was surprised to see your video on it!

    • @SilverDragons47
      @SilverDragons47  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hear is the issue I have with copper... if you run this at the max temp it WILL burn out the heating coil way faster than if you run it at 1100. I have seen it many times. 🤷‍♂️🔥🐉

      @olds 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SilverDragons47 makes sense. I was running at 1140 for copper but I've heard of others using 1100 for copper without problems. I am using copper shot or fine chop so I'm sure that helps. I'll try 1100 in the next day or two and let you know.

      I bought the same one from Amazon and had to return it after the first use because my PID screen melted once I reached 1100. I was freaking out and my crucible started disintegrating when I tried to pour out the copper. Made my copper bar have black stuff all in it

    Question ? I watched a video the other day, so if your doing .999 silver no borax ? If your doing 40% or 90% scrap coins you use borax ? Asking cause I'm new to silver melting and want to do it correctly. Thanks in advance for any info.!!!

    Frag: have you ever assayed your stuff. I was in the local coin shop-he had a 100 oz bar that assayed at 93%. had to buy it back. Won't say the maker, but he called them and they requested it back for replacement. Maker seemed as concerned as was the dealer???

    If you put sterling in the furnace, or even 90% coin, would the silver liquify and leave the copper as a solid, which you could extract (perhaps it floats to the molten surface with its lower density), leaving 99% pure behind for your pouring jobs ? It could be a good way to get to 99% pure silver, assuming you find just right temperature to leave the copper solid. Also, how long did it take to reach the desired temperature to melt the silver ?

    • @LedToe
      @LedToe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. Takes way more effort to make it pure again
