So excited that they are working on new material! Tempering my expectations since they have said that it will be similar to Grin which is their weakest album.
I discovered Coroner thanks to this channel and the Top 10 Thrash Metal albums. I'm happy they finally have their own Rank' em All video. I would be interestes in a instrumental Thrash Metal video. Thank you.
Yesss! Coroner! A really underrated band. So any attention, like yours, is welcome. Grin is indeed their least album, the rest is equally awesome! I don't know if they will record a new album, but they still do gigs once in a while. Saw them some years ago, still sounding great!
Love Coroner!! Great Video thank you! Debut Album is one of the best Albums of all time for me. But all of them are great. Saw em live here in Switzerland some time ago. The new album is progressing and coming hopefully next year
Coroner rules!! I discovered them in the late 80's and I still tell people to check them out. Very unique... Nobody sounds like Coroner to this day!!!! Great video

Awesome band from Switzerland who started as roadies for Celtic Frost. My favorite albums are R.I.P., Punishment for Decadence and No More Color. Mental Vortex is not bad either. Coroner Rules! 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭

That's my only critic about it but Coroner is still an outstanding band among the Thrash scene and saw them live already and met personal.
Excellent and overlooked band. My entry was Grin which I bought in ‘93. I was late to the party and still love that album. Can’t go wrong with anything in their catalog. Hope they release new material or at least tour.
Grand and incredible band. Top of the tops of all metal. R.I.P. - 10/12 Punishment for Decadence - 11/12 No More Color - 12/12 Mental Vortex - 12/12 Grin - 11/12

A very underrated progressive thrash metal band. Honestly with hearing all their albums. I can pick a favorite as I like all of them. I actually want to go back and listen to some Coroner since watching this ranking video. For great instrumentals I have quite a few favorites: Musical Death: A Dirge from Testament's The New Order is a killer way to close an album! Of course I love The Call Of Ktulu from Metallica's Ride The Lightning, as well as Orion from Master of Puppets and To live is to Die on ...And Justice For All. There are many more instrumentals i love, but I would have to think about it more. lol Great ranking video man and it would be cool if you did a best Metal instrumental ranking video!
No mention of how they were Celtic Frost's road crew and techs, for a time? I don't know for how long. Maybe a week, maybe til Celtic Frost split. But road crew, they were, and that's how 'relations' began. It's not a bad thing. I think it is as cool as fuck. They get major cred points from me for being that. It's just that's, pretty much, how the relationship between the two bands began; to the best of my knowledge. I read it in a reputable music rag somewhere ('Sounds' probably). Now, I must track down all of the Coroner albums, like I have been recently delving in to Sodom... Thanks!
They were good friends long before roadying. Tom's work on the Death Cult demo and Marky and Tommy teching for CF were favors, in a way, between friends. One or both "roadied" on a couple Euro gigs before the '86 CF/Voivod/Running Wild US tour, where Marky was there for the whole thing and Tommy joined late in Seattle. That Coroner "started as roadies" for CF is a myth, or just not an accurate representation. They were well entrenched in the writing of what would be material for RIP before they left for the States and had *at least* three songs that were included on a second demo with Ron singing, which was what really secured the deal with Noise, not Death Cult. While that '86 tour was helpful in getting the word out to magazines & zines by handing out the Death Cult demo -- and obviously giving them the experience of being on the road -- the roadying thing is kind of a blip on the Coroner story radar. 🙂
Yes, do a top 25 METAL instrumentals, not just Thrash. When you're talking about instrumentals you can't deny the influence of Iron Maidens' Transylvania.
So glad you covered Coroner! I got into metal through late-night late-80s TV and radio shows in the UK and, looking back, it's wild to think how you could hear stuff like 'Masked Jackal' alongside the likes of Dogs D'Amour and Napalm Death.
If you held a gun to my head and got me to name my favourite thrash band, I'd say Coroner. Absolutely incredible band and I agree, even their "weaker" albums are pretty much flawless. My ranking would be 1. Punishment for Decadence, 2. RIP, 3. No More Color, 4. Mental Vortex, 5. Grin. I've never seen them live but I will be FINALLY seeing them in December.
