I came into this series expecting to see a timeline of all the famous artists throughout history and what I got was far more engaging and interesting. Thank you so much for this course
I loved this series. It is exactly what I was hoping when I began championing/begging for a CC: Art History years ago and I hate to see it end. I hope you will consider the idea I put on the last video of a more "Timeline/Major Movements" approach with Sarah again as host. Not only will it be invaluable to art educators everywhere, but it will allow you to shine a light on the deserving but overshadowed artists of each period. It also will allow Sarah to talk about the tools and toys that go into creating artwork. Just something to consider.
This series took me back to your Art Assignment days. I really loved all the information and insight you've provided. CC really is such a wonderful tool, and we're lucky to get this expertise and education for free.
This has been my absolute favorite crash course so far I'm sad its over, I hope you do another art course of some sort down the road your knowledge and passion bleeds through the screen.
This really changed my perspective! I have always had a negative view of how modern technology affects art, but alas, there are amazing projects/events that I had NEVER heard of that use modern technology in a great way. Now my perspective is varied. Thank you for this great series!
Thanks Sarah and CC. As a Professor of History who knows his weakness (one of, I’m sure) is in art history, this series has been a joy to watch. Well done!
Google arts & culture is one of my favorite apps. I really like the interactive games and activities. My favorite is finding myself & my friends in famous paintings of the past.
Loved this series! As an adult who loves art, I appreciate this course and education on a much deeper level than i did in high school. Thank you for what you do in providing these incredible free resources for all!
This is the first crash course ive watched for fun. I would definitely support a series 2! I’ve been putting off working through art assignment until i have time for to follow the homework. So i appreciate this show a lot!
Thanks for this series! I took at lot of Art History classes in college in the 80s and this series brought back to me the joy and interest I got from those classes.
My social media usage is very much surrounded in art. I’m in a lot of fandoms, primarily FFVII and FFXIV, and fanart (among other fanwork) is everywhere for it for me and has been since I discovered DeviantArt back in the 00s. Many people make art as hobby and also to make money with their love both original and fanart. It’s a great place and I only wish I had more money to support more artists. 😩 Still kinda disappointed that more accessible forms of commissions were never mentioned in the series tbh. You can still support real artists over AI slop! The ways do exist!
I've loved this series so, so much. Sarah is, as always, a wonderful explainer and deftly brings so much nuance into the discussion. Sad to see the end, but I do hope we see more about art and maybe music from y'all soon!
The virtual Karnak reminds me of my architecture thesis project from years ago where I made a 3D recreation of Altun Ha to study it through its evolution of construction and reconstruction, the spatial relationships, the stellar orientations, and more. It's amazing what that kind of time machine can make available. But perhaps not as amazing as this series was! Thank you so much for the work and all the thoughtful quotes and invites to explore and inquire. Sad to see this end, yet delighted that it exists for everyone to watch forever in the future -- just like a great piece of art. :) Now to go load up my cannon canon!
Really surprised that the controversy over Vanta Black wasn't mentioned here. Where the law/technology was used to restrict what artists had access to.
It was cool to hear how they modeled the statue again. I do wish NFTs would break away from art already. It's only holding it back. NFTs shine when used as documents of record that can't change like a stamp, receipt, or certification. Non Fungible means one-off unique item not technically unique because it contains an image with character wearing a different hat then another.😂
The selfies remind me of classical Chinese paintings. There would have stamped seals of names on them, not from the artist, but from those who bought them over the years.
I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think that should affect YOUR decision to go and enjoy the art. Why does it matter what others are doing, when you’ve got the chance to admire it yourself? 😊
First post!!! The world is far more social and more connected than it has been in history, so it’s no surprise that people want to share their experiences with friends and family. Also sharing these more human experiences helps build connections with others who may be longing for a community outside of their normal life. Especially if people live in more remote places with less like-minded people.
I would like to see CC version of the Art of Architecture and Religion. I took a course in college called something like that and would like to see any other updated thoughts. Not at all religious but like to see how other cultures think.
i was at the British museum last week and saw the Assyrian statues, it is amazing but i absolutely hate how everyone was too busy taking selfies an talking too loudly 🤦
Who am I to say how someone should/shouldn't appreciate art but I find it kinda sad seeing people in a gallery or museum walk up to a piece, photograph it, and walk away as quickly as they got there. Why go to the effort of going to a place, to barely look at something, and walk on? And also, photographing "the classics", what's the point? You can Google that stuff any time!
Next time you hear someone complain that the British Museum is wrongly holding treasures from the world, remind them what happened to Iraq's Mosul Lion.
I don't really see it having a present, let alone a future. When everything is art, nothing is, and some pretentious, talentless "artist" placing a banana on a pedestal or making two strokes on a canvas DEFINITELY isn't art.
You realize a 3D copied lion is in no way a recreation for what was lost, right? It's a nice gesture, but nothing more. The actual lion was lost - completely... And, you would do better to hire one skilled artisan with the dimensions and photos of the original to make another lion than you would relying on 3D printing.
@@3countylaugh I dont think the better here is an objective measure. It's subjective. But what is objective is that the consequences of preserving and sharing a digital recreation will be different than the sharing or preserving of the actual statue.
As a huge fan of The Art Assignment, this series has been a delight! Thanks y'all!
I came into this series expecting to see a timeline of all the famous artists throughout history and what I got was far more engaging and interesting. Thank you so much for this course
Loved it and farewell. Thanks for your work. Looking forward to new projects.

What an incredible series - I'm so sad to watch it go! (I'm biased. I'm an artist.)
This has been my absolute favorite crash course so far I'm sad its over, I hope you do another art course of some sort down the road your knowledge and passion bleeds through the screen.
This is the kind of content I joined YT ages ago to find. Thanks, Dr. Sarah, this has been a lot of fun and very mind expanding.
This really changed my perspective! I have always had a negative view of how modern technology affects art, but alas, there are amazing projects/events that I had NEVER heard of that use modern technology in a great way. Now my perspective is varied. Thank you for this great series!
We NEED MORE YETI in our lives!
Please do another series Sarah?
You're a WONDERFUL HOST, EDUCATOR & CONNNON💣💥 ❤
Thanks for another great video; I'm also enjoying John's new series on religion!
Thank you so much Sarah and the whole team of Crash Course! your series are always wonderful.
Till next time!
Thanks Sarah and CC. As a Professor of History who knows his weakness (one of, I’m sure) is in art history, this series has been a joy to watch. Well done!

this series has helped me remember what art means to me, and develop my own art style. thanks a bunch sarah! it was an absolute delight to follow!
The bar was already high with the Art Assignment and the other Crash Course series, but you really hit it out of the park with this one! Thank you 🙏
Loved this series! As an adult who loves art, I appreciate this course and education on a much deeper level than i did in high school. Thank you for what you do in providing these incredible free resources for all!
Thank you so much for this fascinating and informative series. I will be watching for info about your future projects.
This is the first crash course ive watched for fun. I would definitely support a series 2!
I’ve been putting off working through art assignment until i have time for to follow the homework. So i appreciate this show a lot!
This was a fantastic course! It made not see art history as a boring formuleic subject, but more as a living and dynamic aspect of humanity.
I really like this series, please do more cultural topics, maybe music?
Performance of all kinds please! Yes
As a great enthusiast of art and history, this series was a blessing for my soul! Thanks a lot sara and crash course ❤
Thank you Sarah and the team at Crash Course. I’ll try to take these questions with me and hold them when I encounter art from here on out. ❤
This has been such a good series, thank you so much!
Thanks for this series! I took at lot of Art History classes in college in the 80s and this series brought back to me the joy and interest I got from those classes.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the series, and art isn't even my job or my hobby, well until now. Thank you so much for a well-delivered story.
Thank you so much for this series, it's been one of my favorite seasons!!
Thank you so much for this fantastic series, it's been enlightening!
A great crash course series and presented brilliantly. Thank you Dr. Urist Green!!

Great series, really enjoyed it. Never thought I’d watch a series of lectures about art, glad I did.

I am so happy you're back on TH-cam. ❤🎨🖌️
Excellent episode, conclusion, and series! It's very intriguing, interdisciplinary, and inclusive -- like Art History/Herstory itself.
This series was wonderful, I wish it was longer. Thank you so much for making it!

Copyright and legal issues in art would have been a great addition!
This was a really great series! Sarah was a great host!
This was a fun series. Thanks for putting it together.
Thanks for a great class!
Thank you so much for this amazing series! ❤
Your outfits give off strong Doctor Who vibes. I love it
This series should have been longer. There is so much art can tell us.
i've enjoyed this series so much!! made me want to go back to the art assignment too.
Thank you for this series! I loved every second. :)
thank you, Sarah and team. i feel like i learnt a lot
Can we fire Sarah out of the Canon Cannon, as one of the greatest art educators and advocates in art history?
Thanks, Sarah.
Excellent and accessible series!
Amazing series, thank you!

Thank you for another lovely series 💖 Fire the canon cannons!!!
😂
Thanks for this journey
Funny, I don't go to museums I do wanna go to bc there's too many people taking selfies instead of appreciating the art.
I mean, selfies with art is also a form of appreciating the art.
I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think that should affect YOUR decision to go and enjoy the art. Why does it matter what others are doing, when you’ve got the chance to admire it yourself? 😊
@@ndemers No, it's not. They appreciate the likes. 😒

beautiful series
Incredibly sad this series is ending. Thank you SO MUCH. ❤
Great series! I'm a Little sad as it ends. But still. Great work!
Thank you.

Looking at art on line is not the same as in person.
Sure. Where I think people get it wrong is assuming 'not the same' is the same as worse.
