- We continue coverage of the multi-storey building collapse in George.
It's been 9 days since the structure caved in.
19 workers remain unaccounted for - with the death toll standing at 33.
81 people were on-site at the time of the incident last Monday.
For more on this, we cross-live to SABC News Reporter Lerato Fekisi, who is speaking to some of the affected families.

I did say they won’t have money to be taken home because they don’t earn enough to cover cost like this . When we complain about slavery salary everyone think we are crazy or hate our black brothers , don’t who bash us must help now. Those who benefit from exploitation must help
I heard someone saying that as the building collapsed, some workers ran away. Maybe if it is true, they can come forward so their names could be ticked off the list of unaccounted for.
I feel for the families. However, I blame the CORRUPT ANC GOVERNMENT for this disaster. WHERE is border control without bribery to enter SA??? SA sits with the entire Africa to provide jobs. WHO will feed all illegal immigrants if there is already food short in SA to feed our own people?????
This is not time for blame game...
@@TamiaSmith-iz3fe that's your opinion.
@@liespypolygraph hence l respond to your statement because of your political motive. Some people have lost their loved ones and you're busy talking about corrupt ANC government...illegal immigrants.
Every country accommodates illegal or legal immigrants, we are all human at the end of the day . Hence this is a disaster and people have lost their loved and you are concentrating on politics.
How sad for the families as they don't have money to send the bodies home.
where is this criminal contractor, where is he hiding
It is sad . Very unfortunate situation. The truth of the matter is, we need to be realistic with this situation. They were not Employed by the ANC. It is unfair to blame the ANC for this Situation. The truth is the Employer failed to follow the Basic Conditions of Employment not the ANC. My their soul rest in peace.
Shame this is so sad brings tears to my eyes condolences to all who have lost a family member and loved ones may all there soles reast in peace
Those who are saying South Africans blacks are lazy must come and help. This is what we are fighting when we refuse slavery salary
Terribly sad and those responsible are hiding. They don't even have the decency to meet the families. Sies! They are in a heap of k@k.
people who are accountable have disappeared, how sad.
I really feel sorry for these foreigners but again all fingers point to our porous borders

All cheap cheap labour from malawi, zimbabwe and mozambique.. no benefits, not tax registered, no workmen's compensation.
Taking shortcuts to exploit illegal migrants for maximum profit. That time we havent even heard from the company. Its appalling.
Thats true...they only human not die in that way..blame our goverment all thats happening..
@@debbiepillay7677blame the company who hired them they don't respect the laws of the country....these migrants come in with tourist visa and stay forever if employer loved and are patriotic citizens none of this will be happening . imagine 😭 if each employer put their own people first south Africans 🤷🤷🤷 the employer and ANC are together both do care about the masses 😭🙏🤣
.
If there were no problems at theirs countries, they would be alive😢😢
The problem is not because they are in South Africa. The problem is they are here without papers and accepting slavery salary when black South African refuse.

Those who are exploiting them must help. When we refuse that salary they think we are crazy.
