To be honest, although i appreciate the shout out, Doors songs should never be covered in the public arena
I'm an SG man, so was Robbie, but damn that Les Paul is perfect for this track. Crushing tone, Even got what I used to call the Billy Gibbons squeaky thumb technique. But he didn't normally let it ring like that, it was usually part of a staccato grind and bend.

The SG is the Gibson Telecaster. You can do anything with it.
@MichaelJohnson-fr5su and if I ever bought a Fender, it would prolly be a Tele. Stats just don't feel right to me. It looks like it should be, but it's as cumbersome as a V to me.

I am pretty sure that it makes no difference at all using an SG or LP for this kind of song. He is not playing a gibson either....( and i will bet my Strat that without seeing his guitar, nobody would guess it anyways...)🎸🤘🏼🎸

ok i have to admit i was skeptical before hearing thinking this is more AI Sh!t.. BUT>.. loving both the Doors and ZZ Top.. GREAT JOB!
Never really liked the original. Let's just say I didn't identify with Jim's relationship with his demons and the arrangements the Doors preferred were just too keyboard heavy for my taste. For some reason I think a Flying V would underscore a heightened sense of the surreal. Another good version is Bob Rivers' parody version called Weiners On The Foil.
It just dawned on me which song this cover is now similar to: Steve Miller's Mercury Blues.

You should see the clip of ZZTop playing Smoke On The Water. It is a really really super chill version, but it sounds really cool.

I'm old so take that into account. This is ment as constructive. As a basic premise this is ok, but I got tired of the repetition and couldn't make it to the end of the song. Something that doesn't happen when I listen to either ZZTop or The Doors because of the unique elements and change ups both bands do in their music. Just my opinion and as such, doesn't mean anything.
