After a Hollywood beginning, Abu Dhabi Airport’s Terminal A has opened to the flying masses. Improbably, it has already featured in a film - Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - and for months, Terminal A’s undulating roof has had a starring role on the emirate's horizon, visible from its highways, up to 1,500 metres away. Then, last month, airport operator Abu Dhabi Airports announced all would be ready for its world premiere on November 1. After a certain Thomas Cruise Mapother IV took off earlier in June, and a select group of travellers boarded Etihad Airways’ inaugural commercial flight to New Delhi on October 31, the $3-billion terminal’s major services and facilities are now ready to receive its first passengers. As the first paying passengers transit through Terminal A, we took a look at how it aims to raise the Gulf’s flying game. Here’s what you need to know.
